Some great sounds. These mighty machines "talk" to you as they come up those steep inclines. The double headers coming up the Hawkmount and Fassifern inclines sound amazing. The steam era was absolutely amazing and thou we mourn it's loss with some sadness we can celebrate it because of these tapes.
A big thanks to everyone involved to morph it together.
I really enjoyed the commentary, the music and the sounds of all that steam going hard.🔥😊👍
So sad, even tragic that that whole way of life and the steamers are gone. Yet through film, the memories live on as so numerous steam locomotives do still. They even race each other!
May they run forevermore. And may there always be dedicated, devoted fans who maintain them, run them, and ride behind them in the thousands. And that includes that child and his/her pals.
We live ! We do-We shall remain lifelong fans..in my case I'm not sure how long my life will be...but it's a great way to see it out ! 🤫...👌
Beautiful footage. One can only imagine the power of the garnetts
Thanks so much for this.
I've Might Go To Australia Next Year In July 2022. Wish Me Luck. Thanks Mate. X
Nice little video we had a number of 60class at Enfield I remember working on the glenlee coal
I remember as a kid watching the steam trains passing my little town of bundook NSW back in the 60s
Great stuff, the 59 class were all built in the 1950s by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Many would think they were built by Beyer Peacock & Company, however, this is a distinctly American design. especially by the position of the headlight on the smokebox and domes on top of the boiler, also some were converted during their careers to burn a mixture of coal and oil, this I believe was due in part to the cost of oil, so it seemed more economical, if that is the right word to burn a mixture of oil and coal.
In my younger days I was amazed by the 38 class how fast they went
A great little video thanks for the memories we used to leave Enfield or the harbour on a 46 then at Gosford change to usually steam a lottery could be 60 59 54 36 35 38 32 then thru to broadmeadow or port warath.and return ex broadmeadow to Gosford with steam sometimes diesel straight thru.
love the vid mate
In those times sign on at Enfield 46 class to Gosford then steam to broadmeadow I remember working the flyer at speeds of well over 70mph with a 38 class and always on time the inspector was waiting on arrival at Sydney to check the time
What a awesome memory. I lived not far from Enfield and remembered hearing Stream Trains, when I was little. The sound, is edged in my mind.
Great music in the video.
Beethoven Symphony from the early 19th century. Yet his music sounds like a steam train. Beethoven never saw or heard a steam train.
Great films. I wish they would have lightened them up for better viewing though.
Beethoven's Symphony #3 'Eroics': good choice, mate.
At this stage, we will have to wait and find out what happens with 3813, I believe it is stored at Dorrigo. I don’t understand why it wasn’t rebuilt after the overhaul in 1973.
Unfortunately with its few remaining parts, bringing 3813 back to steam will forever remain nothing more than a dream. Especially as long as Dorrigo is involved. As far as I can ascertain, many parts were scrapped when the decision was made not to complete the overhaul in 1973 and the few remaining parts are stored out in the weather at Dorrigo. Further complicating matters is a hole has been cut into its boiler. Very sad indeed as it's the only remaining Cardiff built 38.
@@graemeforssberg3986 What a shame. Very sad.
isnt it the only (semi remaining) Cardiff built loco full stop? @@graemeforssberg3986
The film is very dark in parts but great content 👍
Great stuff, could you please upload “Days of Steam” by Belbin Video please?
3813 has been rebuilt and now stands static at the powerhouse museum
3813 lies in bits (many lost) at various locations around NSW. There is little, to no chance that it will ever be rebuilt.
@@graemeforssberg3986 It's 3830 at the MAAS, most of the parts, if not all are now at Dorrigo. Rust in peace.
Most of the parts of 3813.............
At Dorrigo means doomed at least until Keith Jones carks it (honourable role in steam preservation in the 70s long long gone) @@steaminpete
Anyone have any idea what number is the 60 class Garratt working between Dubbo and Orange with 3823? I couldn’t tell what number was on the Garratt.
so sad
Awfully dark film.
yeah lets criticise people who used seriously limited tech to give us anything at all. Be a thanker not a w........
