- Want to try a unique art tool? Fluid writers (also called fine line painting pens) are metal painting pens that can be filled with paint or ink and are really fun to use for artwork. You've probably seen these pens used in videos on social media. Now you can try one for yourself! 😉 In this video I share all my tips for how to use a fluid writer, including how to fill them two ways and how to clean them.
There are a few different sizes of these pens available, including some with much larger wells. The one I have is linked down below.
I wrote a full blog post about this that goes into more detail. You can read it here: byheidigrace.c...

Thanks for sharing! Cool seeing how it works. Your handwriting and drawings are pretty lovely 🥰
Thank you!
Fascinating!
I’m surprised there’s no way to control the flow, like a little hole or slide mechanism to let air in and out.
do they ever have a reservoir bigger than the little pot? Like an add-on so you are not constantly adding new paint? This was a very helpful video.
Yes, I've seen some where the reservoir is way bigger so you don't have to refill nearly as often. Those would also be easier to fill and clean in general! I haven't tried one but you can look around on Amazon for the bigger sizes.
@@byheidigracethanks so much I will look
Does your fluid writer have a BRASS TIP? Do you think its important to have a brass tip, I would be using acrylic inks and very thinned acrylic paints.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much for this video I learned a lot!
I'm not sure about the brass tip, the product info didn't specify. I don't think it is though. I wouldn't think it would matter but I'm not an expert on acrylics. You can also get these pens in larger sizes which may be a little easier to use. So glad the video was helpful and thank you for watching!
