That seems to be something that wasn’t actually written and Pedro Pascal just came up with according to Craig Mazin in the official The Last Of Us podcast
The way Pedro delivered the line "I'm failing in my sleep" broke me. Living in a world of pain misery and feeling like your own body and mind are working against you. Damn it this show just goes from strength to strength.
Rare to see a show nail that feeling of 'falling backwards in a nightmare' of a panic attack. That feeling of two conflicting realities in your mind causing your whole body to lock up in terror and confusion 😨
They need to have a spin-off with Graham and Elaine. "Grumpy Cabin". I would have liked to see them a little longer. They probably have more experience, nominations, and awards than a lot of the performers in this show.
Loving the great addition in having the old native & secluded couple be living still in all this terror world, now the show brought actual levity and not leave us in sorrow right after. I would watch a show about them 2 in the cabin any day. Also love how they foreshadowed more aspects to the 2nd game and the chills are there for the 2nd season😅little Psycho😂
They're watching THE GOODBYE GIRL. Single mom meets this dude and the daughter and him become close much like Ellie and Joel. I like how it's incorporated into the episode.
This was a great episode, but it's overshadowed by how excited I am for next week's episode. I really loved the DLC, and I can't wait to see it come to life with these actors.
This is the most vulnerable we’ve seen from both Joel and Ellie yet. We know watching from Joel the desperation to close himself off to preserve whatever humanity he doesn’t want to lose yet and him breaking down in front of Tommy is indicative of how much he’s barely keeping it together. Ellie, on the other hand, is a whole different kettle of fish. This is where her abandonment issues begin to boil over the more she loses her innocence; between being orphaned by her parents, being pawned off by Marlene, losing Tess, Henry and Sam, now she has to watch her father figure pawn her off and abandon her too? This girl can’t catch a damn break; it breaks my heart when she repeatedly tells him “Don’t leave me alone”.
Great reaction. Pedro and Bella's performance in this episode was simply amazing. Also, I couldn't help but notice that your shirt is from one of my favorite movies, One Crazy Summer.
This isn't really a spoiler for people who are watching the first time through but it is in hindsight if you've played Part 2 so I am going to put it down under the "read more" just incase. (great ep thanks for the reaction) *** *** *** *** SPOILER, KIND OF *** *** *** *** The absolute gall of the showrunners to add a "joel you gotta get up" to the end of this episode. The madmen! My favourite episode so far i love how they are slowly building part 2 I’m huge fan of that game , this episode was on the slower side but i liked that alot it gave ellie and joel relationship room to grow
I am dreading the inevitable Part 2 season of the show, if they can somehow make something great out of that trainwreck of a story from Part 2 then the show writers deserve every award under the sun.
@@khalidjamal2160 …game 2 definitely wasn’t perfect….you can consider the 1st game perfect as everyone that played it had no complaints, if there were people that has something negative to say, it was a minuscule amount of people like 10 out of 100…but game 2 had many people upset and unhappy, not just talking about Joel’s death, but there are many things that happened in part 2 that just wasn’t right that left people unsatisfied with the finished product and are hoping for a game 3 or the HBO show version to change a couple things
This was yet another great episode when I was watching it I was trying to remember what happened in the game during this part since I've only seen someone play it once btw I loved it when you guys immediately recognized the actress who played Terra from True Blood
This episode was like a rollercoaster ride emotionally. When you started talking about the monkeys it reminded me of a reaction I watched were they commented the monkeys jumped out the windows to snitch on Joel and Elle to the raiders below.🤣 Enjoyed the reaction and until next time 👍👍✌ out.
Me when they reached Jackson: :') Me when they enter the hall: ;_; Me when they show REDACTED: T_T Me when they show Shimmer: OH MY FUCKING GOD STOP! Damn TLoU 2 PTSD.
Thanks, Robert! Thanks, Vanessa! 🪶 Another solid episode with an effective cliffhanger. I especially enjoyed seeing *Elaine* *Miles* playing a small role; I enjoyed her in over 100 episodes of NORTHERN EXPOSURE (1990). It was just as delightful to see *Rutina* *Wesley* again after enjoying her work in most of TRUE BLOOD (2008), several episodes of HANNIBAL (2015) and a single episode of THE WALKING DEAD (2019). I'm eager to see how they handle upcoming events. ❧ Since you wondered about that movie with Richard Dreyfuss, it was THE GOODBYE GIRL (1977) and I highly recommend it! #LateToTheParty #TheLastOfUs #TLOU #TheLastOfUsHBO
having not played the game iam loving the series and i agree with Robert you don't all these side missions and interactions that probably work for a game in the show, its a show it has to keep moving and so on!
While they've announced that Pedro Pascal will be reprising his role as Joel I knew he was the perfect choice. But now watching him actually playing it, God he's on a whole another level of perfection. He is amazing. This show is for sure the best instruction for how to make a successful adaptation. I love it. ❤
I think Joel's health episodes are blood pressure/heart related. He looks like he's experiencing that sensation when everything starts slowing down and your vision starts to grey out and you get dizzy from a blood pressure drop. He reached for his chest at the log cabin the first time. It's cardiac related.
@@LatetotheParty Cool what state. I was active for 4 yrs. My AFSC was 2A3x3B also known as Tactical Fighter Maintenance F-16 Crew Chief. I got sentenced to Hill AFB, UT 388th FW 4th FS.
Very strong episode. Awesome seeing Tommy and Maria in live-action. If idiots have a problem with Maria being race-swapped, screw off. Also, I believe I saw Dina from Last of Us 2 in the dining hall. If you don't know who Dina is, look her up, since she's an important character. I also loved seeing the live-action version of the famous argument scene between Joel and Ellie ("You have no idea what loss is"). It was just as beautiful and sad as it is from the game. Also, Joel's breakdown over failing to save Sarah was heartbreaking. I know hardcore fans will cry foul at that, because "that's not Joel is about". If you truly understood Joel, you would love that aspect of the character even more. I bet you Pedro Pascal wins an Emmy for his acting here. Also also, if you truly know Last of Us, Joel ain't dead. I promise you. I'm excited for the live-action Left Behind DLC next week, especially finally seeing Riley. I also hope to see Ashley Johnson, aka the original Ellie, appear in the episode. Again, I love this damn show!
If you missed it guys, when ellie and joel are eating at the restaurant, youll notice that a girl is watching ellie and joel. That ladies and gentlemen, is Dina the girl that appeares on the second game, so is confirm that we will have a season 2, i hope.
As much as I knew the gnarly pipe impalement would be done differently, part of me does think the broken bat was a bit weak, plus we lose a lot of emotional weight with Ellie carrying Joel out of the University, but it's still a great episode
It's interesting that for the 2nd time, the show uses Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again", a song about heroin addiction. I haven't played the games. Is there a connection between the song and the game?

Still brilliant....where is the next episode button...no, thankfully we get to go over this episode a few more times before we get to go again.....it's getting colder.
The change made at the end of the episode is my favorite change so far. The way it went down in the game was a really big stretch (I'm talking more about the aftermath than the actual injury).
You interested in selling that Ashy Slashy puppet prop? I'll give you $230 for it. Maybe get yourselves a 1/6 scale Mandalorian figure, prep the background for upcoming season 3.
Appreciate it. We've seen this Ashy Slashy puppet go for $450.00 currently. He's only gone up in value since we got him. We'll hang on to him for a while longer.

Pedro brought his absolute A game acting Wise. Blew me away how vulnerable he was, cannot wait for the conclusion of the show.
Very good actor.
I saw a clip of him in buffy from when he was in his early 20's. It is amazing how much he has honed his craft since then!

The movie they're watching is The Goodbye Girl... It was Richard Dreyfuss' breakout role: He won an Oscar for it.
Once I saw the movie that was playing I realized for sure that Ellie would be leaving Jackson with Joel. I loooove The Goodbye Girl.
They were watching The Goodbye Girl with Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason.

Seeing the actress from Northern Exposure and the Bill Nye episode that taught me about static cling really brought back the nostalgia.

i loved some much the references to the second game (Dina, Shimmer and the farm with the sheeps)
LOVE seeing Rutina Wesley playing Maria! 😁😁
Next week is what I've been looking forward too all along 🤞
This episode was so overwhelming, because of all the emotions and because of all the Easter eggs to the second game as well.
Had to look it up, the movie Ellie is watching is a 1977 film called "The Goodbye Girl"
