My new favorite camera pack for airline carry-on and travel is the WANDRD PRVKE Lite 17 liter pack. It carries my Fuji X-T5, three lenses, speedlight, batteries, filters, etc. The pack expands on the top to carry a sweater, windbreaker, etc., and it can store a laptop.

I've never heard of that pack. I just looked it up. What a cool looking travel bag. It reminds me of a more functional version of the McKinnon Cube pack. I was looking to get the Cube Pack for my GFX system but there wasn't enough "camera space" in it. I almost never travel with my GFX so a day pack would be more appropriate. The WANDRD may very well fit that bill. Thanks for bringing my attention to it.

Last trip I took a medium size rolling bag not designed for cameras specifically. I used inserts and clothing and lens bags to make sure everything was padded. Much easier and much less conspicuous. Like you I use a non descriptor bag for walking around.

I see that these tips are for digital photography. I shoot exclusively with film, so my #1 tip applies to film.. when flying, do everything you can to get hand checks for your gear, or at the very least your containers of film. Newer airport scanners are more powerful than older ones and will fog your film. This is very important in European countries (I’m talking to you France.. 🤨).

Great tip. And I probably should make a video geared toward film. I personally don't care about the ISO 800 rule. They are handchecking my Ektar, Portra 400, Delta 100 etc. I don't leave anything to chance. I request it every time.

In places like the Philippines for example. They love the razor blades there. If it is on your back you have less control. They will slash it and be gone before you can turn around. Keep stuff in front of you if possible.

Crazy. I've never been to there. You think those blades would easily slice up a heavy duty bag like a Nomatic?
And to your point, when I feel less safe, i tend to put my wallet in my front pocket. Gotta steer clear of those pick pockets.

I hate canon lens caps, it has happened to me, the lens cap fell off inside my bag luckily it didn’t damage my glass. I hate it so much I decided to get a magnetic filter with a magnetic cap and it sticks so well, it’s easy to take off and stays on inside my bag. I got the Marumi magnetic filter, lens adapter and lens cap. It doesn’t fail me and so easy to use.
