That is not fully true. Because here it is not the unison device that takes control of Hayate but the Magical defense programm Nachtwal. A unison device is there th support the mage not to control the mage.

I doubt the defence program could take over Hayate by itself. It's just that Reinforce was under Nachtwal's influence.
