I don't know why so many people struggle to understand level crossings in the UK, I mean, there's a solid amber light, two flashing red lights on each side of the road and a siren well before the barriers start to lower. It's just insane how anyone would play around with the life like that, what's so important that they can't wait a couple of minutes?? 🤣🤣 Great video 👍
it appears that in the UK if red lights flash and barriers are coming down you need to run or drive across at that point, This is natures way of ridding the world of idiots
Oh this is not only the UK. Road rules, especially at rail road crossings, are ignored in many countries in particular Germany. People even honk when you stop before the crossing in a traffic jam. We should revoke many driver's licenses.
@@reinerjung1613 As I understand the rules, you must stop when the lights start to flash and remain stopped until the lights are off. If you do cars behind you will get mad, honk, give you the finger or any other nasty thing! I always stop! Besides I like the trains!
@@railroad9000 Same rules here. You are not allowed to drive in a junction or railroad crossing when you cannot leave it at the other side. Of course stop at the light. Unfortunately, people often do not follow these rules. As for me, they can honk as much as they like, I will not cross until its save.
I don’t know why some people want to walk on while the red lights are showing and the barriers not yet lowered. Also, some people are not following rules for level crossings and just want to risk themselves. What they should do is stop exactly when the yellow light shows and when they hear the alarm but other than that, great Video!!!👍🏻😁
I don't know how some people ignore the level crossings, like the alarms are very loud, so loud you could easily hear them from your vehicle, and bright flashing lights.
People that don't live near level crossings and foreign visitors have no clue what a level crossing is or how it works, Network rail should be educating people better or redesign the crossings
Honestly, do people not understand what level crossings are there for? They're to try and protect people against being struck by a train at a level crossing - which means when the orange/red lights are on/flashing, stay well back and make sure you are clear of the crossing!
Level crossing lights act the same way as traffic lights. No lights means a green traffic light. A solid yellow light means a yellow traffic light, and two flashing red lights is like a red traffic light.
@@JPLCUK So, what? He's one of my favourite characters from a show I grew up watching. Why are you getting so defensive over a comment that was not meant to be in any way offensive? You clearly are a kid, if you're getting upset over something as trivial as that.

@@TheosTrainsWalesOfficial: To be fair, I've seen a few crossings where it's virtually impossible to box junction - in fact, there's one where the crossing is instantly followed by a junction with a STOP sign, I don't think anything but (motor)bikes, if even them, can fit between that junction's stop line and the end of the crossing. That said, I would think that [public] level crossings being box junctioned should be the norm, unless a situation like the previous makes it impractical - the "keep crossing clear" signs seem more of a suggestion than a requirement, and it's not really taught that you shouldn't stop on level crossings, at least in my experience. Wouldn't be surprised if many people would think "the lights aren't on, so I can cross the [level crossing] stop line" in absence of a box junction (and often even in the presence of them!)
Unfortunately that would cause the driver a great amount of stress, could even end up with them having to give up their jobs from the trauma of it. What’s really needed is people to understand that flashing red lights along a road are an absolute STOP, not even the Police are allowed to pass, in the instance of level crossings, the flashing reds indicated that the road is now an active rail line which they are trespassing on if they ignore the crossing lights, if the Transport Police were around and caught them they would be in for a £1K fine minimum.
@@Warbler-Productions: + in this specific case, not only can the drivers see them before they move, they're the ones operating the crossing I think. Don't know of many people who would deliberately allow a situation to occur that could kill someone, even if there weren't laws against that...
