- In this video I'll talk about a pretty recent controversy that happened in the community involving secret ways in classic levels getting fixed after years. Also there are some cool levels and memes! I hope you'll like it!

Before uploading a level, in the Share Level tab it says "By sharing a level, you give the rights to use the level (in any way) to the creators of Geometry Dash." So something like this is possible and should be expected. But not announcing it is kinda nasty tho.
Fun fact: most of the levels with secret ways (aka before 1.9) were made before that existed, especially Ruined Planet which was made in 1.5

I genuinely find it stupid in a way, how rob is letting mods update whole levels, but despite that, still makes himself the only one being able to rate levels

long story short, certain things break when the game has to deal with huge numbers. things like this, where the player no longer moves
This is also what caused the Minecraft Java farlands and Bedrock stripelands
This is also how levels like nessus or PPLLIFE are made
I saw it and I INSTANTLY looked for the x pos. Aicnent trick that just breaks everybody mind. Still find it funny that they used that to bead sakupen wall a while back xd

i was initially like "so the creator patched a secret way why is this controversial" cuz i didn't realize the mod team was making changes without the creator's permission but like damn that sucks
i've also noticed the mod team changing levels with nongs that got into the music library to actually use them, i'm not entirely sure how i feel about that but def less negative than editing the level itself
The creators signed a contract by uploading the level that Robtop is allowed to change the levels in any way. The only thing wrong with it is that the mods are doing it as well, which they have no right to do, that or Robtop is formally declaring that mods are developers of GD

Although somewhat hard to compare, another way of thinking of fixing old levels’ secret ways is, like a modern artist fixing imperfections on art that was made in like 1650, it takes away the historical aspect of it and completely makes in unpopular. This is dumb, especially for those levels that were made before that Terms of Service thing (sharing a level gives Rob the right to do whatever he wants with it) existed, such as Ruined Planet
As a game which allows any user to submit anything they want onto its servers, the notice had to have been there since the beginning of the game due to required quality control. Without it, a user could upload inappropriate content and Robtop would not be able to do anything about it. Your argument is not comparable in this way.

Secret ways should be fixed, but only if the fix makes use of objects and mechanics from the version the level was last updated in
I remember back in the day feeling so cool after beating an 8 star with a secret way lol. Shame that the mod team randomly decides to patch them instead of actually patching bugged levels from the physics change.
Tho there are way more levels that were affected by 2.2 physics change than rated levels with know secret ways.
I'm not saying that you're wrong, just trying to explain how insane it would be to begin to start changing those levels.
@@agentemiojo4796 While I understand that fixing every bugged level due to the 2.2 physics change is definitely a headache, the fact that the mod team woke up one day thinking "hmmm what if we patch every secret way level in existence for the sake of it?" before fixing levels that have become literally impossible is honestly laughable. Yes, the more popular bugged levels like Windy Landscape have already been fixed, but finding other old broken levels shouldn't be too hard. The mod team clearly had a motivation of patching literally every secret way level, so using that motivation for something useful (aka fixing the broken levels) would be much better tbh.
correct me if im wrong but dont the mods literally have a server where you can submit bugged levels so they can be fixed by the mods
They are fixing bugged levels tho.... They are trying to fix everything and that includes secret ways for some reason. For example a slope in Trollmachine recently got fixed and that allowed me to beat the level.
GD twitter being twitter...I honestly think its fine for the most part but they should use visible saw blades instead of invisible ones, especially in the older levels
Except this time it was so bad it triggered the youtube, reddit and exclusive-gd communities as well, so much so that Rob reverted some of the major changes
More than anything, the issue lies on making these decisions without at least notifying those involved, and as a consequence, it could compromise the community's trust if this behavior appears unpredictable.
Modifying levels to get rid of secret ways is an alright approach, though as shown in the video, doing so indiscriminately can harm the charm of some levels, and at worst make them impossible to beat.
Initially I was all for fixing secret ways, but after thinking about it some more, I think the best solution for some of these levels right now is to unrate them. Ruined Planet is a free easy demon with the secret way, but if you patch it, anyone who used it gets a free hard demon. Unless Rob adds a proper system for revoking secret way completions, levels like these shouldn’t award anything

When you upload a level, it states that “By sharing a level you give the rights to use the level (in any way) to the creators of Geometry Dash.” So basically there’s no problem with this.
For the wave
1 go into editor
2 make a wave portal
3 go into platformer and playtest(in editor)
4 pause and set to normal
5 pause and set to plat
6 resume
No one asked but ok

The wave in platformer mode is actually possible
First create a new level and set it to wave and playtest it. When the wave starts makesure to pause the playtest so your icon gets stuck now go to the settings and change the level from normal to platformer
Although the wave will stay in one spot it can still go up and down
That slaughterhouse edit was crazy

The level was rated 4 months ago. I think he/she might have updated the level to include a coin which needed 100m jumps. I think that's why it gives you inf jumps. If this wasn't the case then I don't know why nobody is talking about it
I think Rob and the mod team should've asked or at least told the people that their levels are going to get updated

I feel like they should stay just because of how many ways I can see the community becoming extremely toxic over changing them and pressuring Robtop to revert the change (similarly to the tidal wave drama)

If rob is deleting secret ways in levels, he should update impossible levels for now like shadow temple
tbh I dont think its that big a deal, but to know now that they for sure can do this sort of thing and yet have not fixed the levels 2.2 broke yet is a little bit annoying

They should keep the secret ways. It’s just odd and also it’s partly their fault for not figuring out the secret ways, especially if they can go in someone’s level.

I dont think it needed to patch these secret ways because most of them is in the middle of the level , so your not gonna miss that much of the level (unlike those secret way levels from the recent tab)
