123 🔐 Brinks combination lock decoded and disassembled

The key to decoding this Brinks lock is simply to rotate each wheel to find the real open positions. Each wheel also has fake open positions. The difference between fake and real open positions is that there is more play in the real open positions, less in the fake. For each wheel, apply slight tension and rotate the wheel. When it clicks into position, check the amount of play. Find the position with a large amount of play. That will be the open position for that wheel. Then do the same with the next wheel. Using this simple method, I was able to open my Brinks 4 wheel lock in under 2 minutes.

I love these little locks. I use them for a bunch of low security applications. I personally can’t decode them. But I’m glad to finally see the guts inside. Seems pretty tough. All the other small luggage locks are so poorly made.
