xxJohnxx Well I’m sure Newy might! I just can’t wait for this beautiful bird, I have 2,500+ hours with the MI-8 (the only aircraft I fly) and I am so excited for the MI-24P because I’m sure it’ll bring a whole new dimension to helicopter combat! I’ve already done hours of research and everything, I’m just ready to hand over my money and time already :)
Yeah, the Mi-24 is going to be great until a future module screws something up and then it's going to take years to fix it. Case in point: Ka-50

Yeah, missed out on my contract by 4-5 days. If I hadn‘t I would be on paid leave until at least March 2021, possibly even longer. But oh well, why worry about something I can‘t change?

Always a joy reading from you! Even though I didn't do a lot of DCS flying myself the last couple of years, I always made sure to catch up on what's new, by watching your videos. :)
The flying has been going great until March this year. Licences and most of my training done. Was supposed to start haulin' em passengers around in May, but yeah, that didn't happen for obvious reasons. With 0 hours on jet aircraft, my licence is about as worthless as the paper it is printed on. Hopefully that will change in the next couple of years again, but we will see...
Anyway, on the bright side, I can focus on DCS again. So that is at least something.

Well, neither great nor terrible. I was supposed to start my A320 typerating in May this year, but unfortunately the ongoing virus-situation has put an abrupt stop to that.
Currently I am expecting my typerating in 2022 or 2023, if the aviation industry can recover until then.
Hind gang. Only one more helicopter I'd be this excited for, a Cobra. I think, I hope, that much like the Huey and the Hip are foils to one another in the dcs environment that the Hind is a prelude to the Cobra. Preferably something like an AH-1G, to match our nam' era Huey.

Hi John, been a while!
Why did DCS decided to go with the fixed gun variant?
So that the helo was easier to use without a human gunner. The pilot can line it up and fire much more easily without needing to program AI for the turret.
Also, wider variety of targets (Bradleys etc) and longer range.
The turret in the Mi-24 is usually armed with 12.7mm gun, it's pretty neat for the copilot to play around with but is nowhere near as powerfull as a fixed 30mm cannon.
I was disappointed too ... but when I read that the fixed one is a 30mm ... changed my mind. but yeah a turnable gun would be fun too

1. Not sure about the RWR in DCS.
2. It won't have FLIR. The sighting-system is pretty much daytime only.
@@xxJohnxx77 oh well, another useless module by DCS. We have a useless chopper already "Ka-50", so why develop another useless chopper? It's a myth!!

@@xxJohnxx77 absolutely, people would buy no matter what. My time is not worth spending on something that does not do anything better than the Ka-50. As I said above, RWR and FLIR.

Matthias Scheffknecht glaub da ist ein kleines Missverständnis.
War ja nie beim Militär sondern in der zivilen Luftfahrt. Die Ausbildung hab ich fertig gemacht und im Mai wärs eigentlich losgegangen. Aber die zivlie Luftfahrt hat sich dieses Jahr etwas geändert.

Die sollen lieber mit dem Release warten und das Ding auf den Stand des 21 Jahrhundert bringen....und wieso die P Variante? Warum nicht die Mi-35M oder zumindest die D Variante?
Die Entscheidung P/D haben sie wohl wegen der nützlichkeit der 30mm Kanone getroffen, die in der DCS Umgebung wohl sinnvoller ist als die 12.7mm. Klaar, schade für den Coop Gunner, der dann nur noch die ATGM ins Ziel lenkt, aber wieviel er mit der 12.7mm wirklich machen hät können ist fraglich.
Neuere Modelle sind vermutlich nicht drinnen. Die Russen sind ja anscheinend recht kritisch bezüglich Geheimhaltung.
Ja stimmt die Russen haben sich ja immer quer gestellt...was die neueren Sachen angehen....naja ist nachvollziehbar
