Completely honest except for the fact that the model from Texas he talks about, Kim Rowe, gave birth to his daughter, who he never even acknowledged. Rowe later ended up shooting and killing herself over the telephone while talking to one of Ace’s friends because Ace had promised her everything and then ignored her. If I remember correctly, she had to take him to court for child support.

I always wondered how they were able to get so many groupies to sleep with them or convince them they were the real members of Kiss when nobody knew who they were or what they looked like without their makeup back then. I'm sure Gene could prove who he was to groupies just by sticking out his tongue, lol. It must have been awesome to be a part of a huge touring successful band back in the mid to late 70s. I think the 70s in general was the golden era of being a rockstar and touring all around the world. To even be apart of the road crew must've been an awesome experience.

Ace was the guy who had a little army of invisible soldiers. At the hotels he would be in the hallway hunched down giving orders for his tiny combatants in a huddle. Seemingly talking to individuals with names and prior feats of glory.
Ace is half Cherokee so it is well within their lore about the "Little People" called Skill’li (which means ghost witches).
The Skill’li may have been the ones who gave Gene an inkling to up and go check on Ace in the hotel who was induced and passed out in the bathtub with running water. Ace would have drown in a couple minutes if Gene had suddenly got a notion to go check on his guitarist.

At, 3:05, Ace, mentions, Bob Seeger and his Silver Bullet Band. Opening up for KISS. Yeah I remember that concert. It was in Baltimore at the then called Civic Center (now Mariner Arena).
And I was the, Overnight, Midnight till 6 AM, FM DJ. At the #1 Album Rock Station for Baltimore. WKTK-FM 105.7. The Rock of Baltimore.
And while Bob Seeger opening for KISS was great. As he's from my hometown of Detroit.
When KISS got up on stage. It was so ungodly loud. So hurtful loud. That even sticking cotton balls in my ears. Didn't help. I was mostly deaf. For over a week and 1/2. Before I can start understanding what people were saying to me. And I was sitting right behind the PA Mixers as one of the, esteemed guests of the show. Representing the station.
And I vowed after that. Never will I put myself through that kind of Sound Pressure Level Hearing Destruction! Ever again! It will ruin my career before it got started! There is no reason.. To have anything that stupidly loud! Everybody must've walked away purely deaf from that concert! Some were right in front of the speaker stacks. I was midway back in the middle of the place. It was beyond abusive and destructive..
It was from that point on. I could not listen to KISS anymore either. It was teenybopper shit. And boys with stupid makeup on. What the FUCK is that all about? And what's with the clothing and the high platform shoes? It likely means. They have no talent. And they need a distraction. To try and make them look talented.
I mean I guess they were a lot of fun for a lot of kids. I got a lot of calls for requests.. And I would play them. It was always a good time for me to go to the bathroom. So I didn't have to actually listen to. They had nothing to say. It was not exactly music. It was a commercial venture amongst a number of lawyer friends. To see how much money they could generate.. With something this outrageously stupid. Because the kids will just eat it up. And they did.
So even as a kid who enjoyed rock 'n' roll. I actually enjoyed. Actual musicians and singers. Because both of my parents were world-class. And semifamous in their own right. As a leading coloratura opera singer and leading concert concertmaster violinist. For some of the best opera companies and Symphony Orchestra's in the USA. And I know what music is supposed to be That is not what KISS, demonstrates. They don't demonstrate any actual music. It's high-energy, charge meant way! It's not exactly music. Music would have a melody if it was music. Most music today has no melody. It just has a beat. From a computer rhythm box. Because drummers would have to practice to be able to play like that. And that's just plain ridiculous.
We are going right down the tubes. But young people will enjoy doing that. It's the way they do things nowadays. And we will just have to get over it. Because soon you will be taken care of in a nursing home. By a whole lot of people that don't speak any English. And you think they are frustrating now? You haven't seen, NUTHIN', yet, kids.
Yes it's going to get much funnier before November. And until January, again.

i love it when i hear Rush drug stories. i'm not exactly pro-drugs (i do drink a bit, smoke the occasional joint, and have tried a few hallucinogens, so i ain't no saint), but i get a kick because my Rush-obsessed friends are always warning everybody else about the dangers of using whatever; they always thought Rush were clean-cut fellas and quite the conservative example within rocknroll. as if Rush on tour were always praying (they were NOT Stryper) or doing math (maybe they were doing math...on drugs) haha. love Rush 1974-1984, though. as for Ace, dude used to be my hero when i discovered rock music back in 1980, thru Kiss. he's still great. saw him live twice in...2017 or 18? can't remember. his Kiss solo album from 1978 is still one of my Top 25 lps of all time, and his songs with Kiss were always the hardest and less stupid (rocket ride, shock me, strange ways, save your love, torped girl, cold gin... c'mon, the guy's a hard rockin', rolling stone-totin', glam genius). great interview!

Bob is pretty damned old is what he's doing! Lol I saw kiss in 74 and Bob Segar opened for them. I never got a chance to see Bob and his band again. I realize now how lucky I was to ever get to see them. No dis on kiss. Which was a great show! But I've grown to appreciate Bob's music more over the years!

so use to hearing Paul and Gene talk, you can hear the night and day contrast how down to earth Ace is and how much more interesting the stories are, you dont have to wonder if he is telling the truth like with Paul and Gene. And he doesnt need a interviewer LOL. Just introduce him and let it ride.

When I was first starting to love kiss they were touring with rush, what a show that had to be, awesome. I was way too young, later in the years kiss got greedy and stopped having badass bands open. I saw them several times and they had a local crap band open, and I saw them once with Ted Nugent that was as good of an opener they had after the many times I saw them anyway

well gene and paul made sure everything moved forward, they weren't partier's, they were definately more serious about everything and porb had to deal with a lot of crap from both ace and peter however ace and peter are prob the coolest members and there's no kiss as we know it today without either of them, even with their faults, so without taking sides if you don't have ace or peter you prob have a different band.

I remember the Australian tour well , I was 16 and all of my friends and I dressed up as our favourite band member and went down to Town Hall in Sydney to see the mayor give the guys the key to the city
What Ace didn’t mention was there was so much anger that Peter had just been thrown out and we didn’t want to accept Eric , I often think of how he must have felt because it was obvious from the crowds reaction to him that he was unwanted
