I would strongly recommend that this video and similar explaining the creation of a sand barrier to protect the Dutch coast ( been there and grew up along it) be made available to the civic authorities along the Gold Coast of northern NSW and Queensland where coastal erosion is getting worse, despite the fact that a major sand carrying ocean current exists primarily responsible for the creation of Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. The notion of using the sand motor principles to protect these Australian coast ought to be more cost effective than current measures which amount to creating artificial barriers, easily swept away and incredible expensive.

Very nice research. As a coastal engineer would like to have some comments on the potential use of vast amounts of sand from the north African deserts. Is this kind of sand suitable for coastal nourishment?

No the desert sand is round and therefore not suitable for coastal defence.
