- Make this easy dash display using a nextion 4.3" display and free SimHub software. Great addition to your racing sim rig.
It is USB, stand alone and can be used in combination with any steering wheel - Logitech, G25, G27, G29, G920, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, or OSW.
The display works the same as the Gear Indicator we made in the last video. It just uses different templates and mapping files.
The templates are able to be customized, you will notice the 599xx and a GT3 dash also in this video.

Hello is this working with arduino nano instead of the USB TTL module?
Not sure if you will see this, But do you HAVE to have simhub open for it to work? Because im wondering if im able to load data onto a arduino or something for the games and it detects what game is open and start the telemetry data, instead of having simhub as a dependency

I made this and I can't thank you enough great job. I am having a small problem that maybe you could help me with. the screen works great but every now and then it reverts back to screen one so when I'm looking a lets say the time screen it will go back to the rpm screen by itself. Any ideas why this would be happening? Thanks again for a great video.

am i doing something wrong. I have to load a new dash every time i wanna change it. Is there a way to load a few at a time then scroll through them on the display
I did connect the same usb-to-serial adapter to the Nextion 4.3" display and did the same as in the video. I could upload a dashboard to the screen but when i run Simhub and apply my Template nothing happens. The screen does not change atall. When i play a game like F1-2017 i get only static values like Gear "N" and Speed "999". These values don't change when driving. I did try other dashboards but they do the same. I noteced that you have an older version of Simhub. Could the newer version create problems? Please help me!
Hi, i never used a arduino, just raspberry pies. How you get the Informations to the Arduino: Is he connected by USB with the Computer all time? And how can the Buttons used by the Software/Game: will they Displayed like a USB-Joystick in the Setup-Area?

Here is a challenge (if it's possible): one of these displays as ETS/ATS map display. It's possible to do it?
Henry M sadly no nextion can only use kind of placeholders so it's not possible to display a map
i have purchased a 7 inch nextion display and am trying to follow along with the video, but when i go to upload it just says "connection failed" "forced interrupt" was currious if you have any suggestions

Can i add to the 'USB to TTL Module' a led-bar with gear-indicator AND the 'Nextion Display' at the same time? Or do i need a differnet module for the led-bar?

I works only with the first but for example how i can put the Ferrari 599XX? I tired but i not know how made.

Can you swap out the (rather expensive) touch screen for another? Aliexpress have screen over half price but without touch.

if you add magnets to your wheel base as well as the case you could pull that of pretty easily

Ordered an A4 sheet of carbon fiber 3mm. Cut with power tools then refine the finish by hand.

Can you use other displays? The Nextion one is hard to get in the UK...You can get one shipped from China but they're soo expensive and probably poor quality.
Hello friends!! I am amazed with these videos, and I have launched to make an f1 steering wheel with my 3d printer. I have a question, I don't know if someone could solve it, how is the connection between the tll module and the arduino promicro made? Or are two different usb cables used to operate the wheel?

I just started looking into the f1 build last night. Did you finish yours?
From what I can tell you can run 2 cables to the wheel (one for button controls, one for screen), or put a USB hub in the enclosure to only run one cable.

What is that tape you are using to mount it together? Just normal doube sided tape? Getting the stuff for this display, the shifter and the 7inch display. Awesome builds :)
Automotive double sided adhesive tape.
Can you easily do it with a cheapest screen than Nextion ? The fact that it is a touch screen isn't important, is it ?

Thanks Sang! All the displays run off simhub and plug in separately via USB. Simhub is an application that runs in the background. The analog handbrake is separate has its own programmed arduino controller and then plugs in USB. Sequential shifter is seperate and has its own game pad encoder and plugs in via USB. Yes there are templates for other screen sizes down to 2.8"

Can I just buy a small 7" touch screen that connects via HDMI and put the cluster in windowed mode on the second display (the touch screen)?
How difficult would it be to convert this to real world application? id love to build one that can go off of GPS and to reverse the text for glass reflection...

upload failed I can not upload the dashboard, the compilation is going well and that does not go any further as soon as I want to upload I have the message connection failed. Do you have a solution?

Good question, apparently some versions have driver issues, but that can be fixed with and update. Get the same looking one that I used, had no issues connecting.
Would it be possible to mount something like this to the Thrustmaster TM Open Wheel Rim???

Are there cheaper alternatives to the nextion displays out there? 45$/€ are pretty expensive for such a plain display :/
Anton Meyer-Erlach simhub purpose was to provide the cheapest but customisable dashes. nextion are the most expensive devices simhub supports, but there are templates for smaller nextion which costs around 20€ . compared to market solutions it's pretty affordable.
