The first thing the police did was take all of my electronics. No electronics for a year, and I wasn’t able to hang out with irl peers for an entire summer. Haven’t had depression since. I was never bullied online, but I was trying to help other people my age with THEIR depression. As you know now, that’s what made me get depressed. Mental illness is infectious. Don’t abandon people you are close with, but you’re no one’s therapist. Politely remind them that there are adults in their life capable of helping them, and if they can’t respect you and continue to bring in personal information about their depression into whatever connection the two of you have, you need to get out for yourself

I gotta agree on the fact that mental illness is contagious though. Serious advice, If you’re feeling good during a period of your life, mentally stable and healthy, and meet a person who is mentally unwell, whether depressed or not, the best thing you can do for yourself is backing away from that person before either of you get attached. Depression is skyrocketing because teenagers all over the world are speaking to one another daily which is great, but it adds that potential of meeting someone capable of harming you and your mental health. Once you’re harmed, it genuinely can spread like an infection to others around you.
I was severely depressed in 7th grade. I was attempting to dip myself out of the world and it got so bad to the point where my mom had to call the police on me because she found me with a harmful item. The first thing the police did was take all of my electronics. No electronics for a year, and I wasn’t able to hang out with irl peers for an entire summer. Haven’t had depression since. I was never bullied online, but I was trying to help other people my age with THEIR depression. As you know now, that’s what made me get depressed. Mental illness is infectious. Don’t abandon people you are close with, but you’re no one’s therapist. Politely remind them that there are adults in their life capable of helping them, and if they can’t respect you and continue to bring in personal information about their depression into whatever connection the two of you have, you need to get out for yourself
