- Steven Rogers’ “Before He Was Super” is a prime example of personal material and deft writing, forged on New York’s best stages. As a frequent opener for Brian Regan, Steven has honed his family-friendly voice while tackling topics including what it’s like when even the anxiety medicine directions give you anxiety, trying to flirt with athletic women, and desperately searching for items at the grocery store. The special was filmed live at the Tropicana Room at the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum in Jamestown, NY in partnership with the National Comedy Center.
Originally from Syracuse, NY, Steven Rogers is a New York City-based comedian who made his national TV debut in 2019 on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and has been featured in multiple comedy festivals such as Lucy Fest, Rogue Island, and the Limestone Comedy Festival. He also has a popular anxiety-themed podcast with fellow comedian Andrew Schiavone called, Panic Attacking.

This was SO GOOD!! I've heard about you for years from Joe List and your Late Show set was great, so I came here the same day I heard that you had a new full special out. I'm big on standup and your jokes and timing were both killer! I was impressed that you're in your 20s and still have such good joke writing chops. The cadence and timing that you do your material with had me bursting out laughing multiple times! I see a lot of punchlines coming but you always had a unique take on all your subject matter, and it really was a delight to watch this thing from beginning to end.
I've only heard you referred to as Steve Rogers so I was thrown off for a minute when you introduced yourself as Steven, but you weren't the top search in RUclips for "Steve Rogers", obviously, because of the Marvel movies, so it seems like a smart move if you're trying to get traction online and build a following.
You've got the right talents at the right time in the comedy culture timeline to be playing to theatres full of senior citizens with the next couple years! I thought it was cool that so many older people were in your audience but they were still a good crowd. You've got a bright future and a new follower! Congrats on your success!

You are my new favorite comedian. I haven't laughed this much in a long time. As someone with extreme anxiety all my life, this was hilarious and spot on! I feel like you're my kindred spirit. I also get panic attacks and laughed so hard at the joke about actually dying and thinking I need to calm down because I think about that all the time, LOL. I really love classic rock and Marvel movies! The Peter Parker joke is too funny. I also love therapy. I use comedy to help calm down my anxiety oftentimes. Awesome show. I laughed all the way through. I prefer clean comedy over the comedians that have to swear and curse after every other word. For me, it takes the fun out of their jokes know matter how funny or good they might be. Especially if every other word is the “f” word or the worst and that is using God’s name in vain. I don't enjoy it as much. That is only my opinion and how I feel. Plus, my children can watch with us. I do feel that it takes a great comedian to be hilariously funny while doing a completely and totally clean standup. This is my first time to ever see you. After seeing this special, you good sir, are now in my great list of clean comedians. Thank you for keeping us laughing from beginning to end. It was great. God bless.
