I appreciate all your videos so much Ive started back archery hunting turkey again and I've used all your tips and been going here in western KY in some cold rainy swampy days I've had the gobbling or working every day during bad weather more so than good weather. I always sit them out and make them speak first once I hear that gobble I move how I need and soft call.
Higher temps are worse in early spring. Barometric pressure and wind speed have more to do with roost gobbling. Cold, crisp mornings with little to no clouds in the sky and winds under 6 mph are ideal down here in the south. Love the videos. 👍🏻👍🏻
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I love a cool crispy morning over a super warm humid morning. I’ve heard people get super pumped about a 70 degree morning saying how great it would be, yet you don’t even hear the crows. I’m with you. Cool and crispy are my favorites
Hey brother dale my name is Ian I wanted to ask you something if you have time to answer I know your busy but my spring Turkey season starts in may I still have snow on the ground here in New York should I start trying to locate Turkeys this early in the year with locater calls or should I just go to the property’s an listen an not call Turkeys
Gobblers don't get cold like we do. The gobbling is caused by the time of year. Their annual breeding clock strikes the same time every year. As far as the daily weather, yes, it affects their gobbling but it does not stop their breeding. Just like a whitetail buck.
our turkey season doesn't start until April here in N.C. but I've been setting up my hen decoy and yelping with my box call and haven't herd a gobbler yet but i was using my binoculars and spotted a hen about 30 yards away and she wouldn't make a noise or move just stood like a statue , what happened ? Did she see me or was my yelping scaring her ?
I’ll never forget opening morning in southwest West Virginia 2018. 20 mph winds and 37 degrees, not ideal conditions but guess what? The turkeys were gobbling their heads off and I ended up killing a nice Tom. You gotta be in the woods to kill ‘em!
The way I see it here in the northwest (Washington State) if you are out there you have at least a 50 50 chance of filling your tag, if you are setting in camp or home, you have a 100 % chance of nothing. It is not uncommon to be hunting in snow in mid-April around here and I have had birds gobbling when there is 6 inches of snow on the ground and the snow is still coming down.
Matt i wanna invite you to hunt Tuscaloosa and Jefferson county Alabama And logan county West Virginia We have homes in both states. Have followed u for years and we were Raised just alike a believe it would be a blast.
The most gobbling I ever heard was a morning with 6" of fresh snow and temp in the 20's. Another time, I could see the frost forming on my gun and the Toms just wouldn't shut up. That was one cold morning in the woods and plenty of turkey action.
Out on this cold morning.
When it comes to hunting, this is an irrefutable fact, YOU CANT MAKE A KILL SITTING ON THE COUCH OR LAYING IN BED
I can't figure out how he don't have like 10 million subscribers
I needed this. Appreciate ya.
“Just doing Turkey things” I love it! Thank you for the continued great advice! I can’t wait for the season to open.
Great timing for me to find this one..cold front through Ohio next few days! Thanks Matt.. great knowledge you share! Good luck , God bless!

How often do you call I call about every ten to fifteen minutes is this enough or no
I've seen turkeys strutting in rain like a cow pissing on a flat rock. I've heard toms hammering when there's hard frost in the winter and spring.
You just described a major difference between thinking like a turkey and thinking like a hunter. A turkey killer thinks like a turkey.
Amen. I go no matter the weather.
I appreciate this Dale!! I’m hunting tomorrow morning on a cold front here in Florida! Goodluck this season , God bless!
Me and my son headed out in the morning also
@@daniellove1824 heck yeah,y’all have any luck? I got on 12 birds but the hens kept takin the ole big boy away
My son got his first Gobbler ever it was awesome
@@daniellove1824 heck yeah!! Congrats

30 degrees on opening day here in SD and I’m the only one here still at 5:30
Went out yesterday evening and saw about 10 or 12 eating at the edge of a tree line around 3-4pm. No response gobbles
Turkeys don't mind the cold at all! It's all in our minds, killed a bunch of birds on some seriously cold mornings here in TN
What about colder and windy, how does the wind effect the Tom’s
Cold weather has been the best turkey hunting here in BlueRidge Mountains! They gobble like insane. Warmer it gets the quieter they get.
Love listening to you keep up the good work
I just bought two of your mouth calls from spring fever. Thanks for all this great content!

I've heard some of the best gobbling birds on mornings when the wind is blowing and snow is flying. Good stuff Matt. As always.

I honestly believe those older birds know a hen is gonna go nest early on a "cold" spring morning

I've heard my best gobbling on cold, clear mornings, as opposed to warm mornings.
I need a "Turkey Killer" t shirt
Killed my bird last year in Missouri with a dusting of snow on the ground!
Another good one Matt. Thanks for what you do for us! Your turning guys like myself from a Turkey hunter to a Turkey killer!
