Thanks for making this video ! I was initially avoiding bush trips since I found hard to understand navigation. The video gave me confidence to attempt the activity. Navigation is actually quite easy in most aircrafts, since waypoints are already fed in the nav system.
don’t be afraid to get lost and try again, took me a few tries to get it myself but once you do it’s a ton of fun to just find your way without following the magenta line :)
One thing i has to figure out on my own is that you can actually set the game to help you with certian things like navigation. You have to. set the assistant options before you start the flight, because they cant be changed after, but it will help you navigate if you set it to EASY before hand. Pretty cool little trick. The bottom 4 settings cant be changed though.
That's a great point actually. I'm planning on making some complete beginner tutorials when MSFS 2024 comes out, and this will be one of the videos I make thanks to your suggestion. Cheers!
i put autopilot on for for rekija trip and flew for an hour without knowing i was going the wrong way cause i thought i was supposed to follow the pink line
As waypoints are already entered, can we not use auto-pilot to do them? Also, how do I know what is the best type of approach to land, before I take off
Yes, you can, but that’s a bit boring. All the bush trips are meant to be flown in visual flight conditions, so most of the time you’re best to join the traffic pattern to land. You can learn more about that here: ruclips.net/video/EwaF37CcjBQ/видео.html
How do you refuel on the bush trips? There are no petrol stations in many of the airports, and there is nothing in the menu bar that allows for this either. None of the keyboard shortcuts seem to work.
There is a bit of bug when it comes to that. The workaround is to map the "Repair and Refuel" command in the controls to a keyboard shortcut, and you'll be able to refuel. Make sure to do it before your tanks get too low, or you might end up with an error trying to start the next leg.
Hey, thanks for the video! I do have a question - I want to fly direct to my destination on the second leg of the Los Cerros to Cochrane trip. My reason for this is because I crashed on the landing (the tailwheel plane is a nightmare for noobs 😂), so I’d like to be able to just quickly get to the end again. I tried to just follow the 208 degree heading which was the designated heading for the runway, but it brought me miles away in the opposite direction. Any ideas? Cheers.
The easiest way is to use the direct to functionality on the gps (D with an arrow through it). Plug in the identifier of your destination and it’ll give you a direct track to it. I’m not sure if this will mark the leg as incomplete though since technically you’re not supposed to use the gps on the bush trips.
You should spend some time understanding navigation first. It will greatly increase your enjoyability of these. Flying a destination runway heading from your departure is not going to bring you to your destination. You were just flying in parallel with the runway the entire trip, but the destination could have been hundreds of miles left or right of your current track. A runway heading only lets you know in which direction the runway is, not how to get there.
I have been trying these bush challenges and have run in to a problem I have not encountered some how the pink coarse line has changed to a green VOR line I don't know what happens if I accidentally switched it or what happened and can't figure out how to get it back to the pink line
Press the CDI key below the Primary Flight Display. I know there is a bug with the 172, sometimes it won't go back to GPS though and you need to restart the flight from the runway for it to work
Yeah, they've set the weather to be the same all the time... if you're on PC you can modify it by editing some of the files of the install, but on Xbox you're stuck with it as is.
Oh I accidentally deleted my FlightPlan and could no longer see the white lined route. Not been using FlightSim too long around 1week. And I could use them back but have made it to leg 9 from 3 or 4 without it now.
I don’t think there is a way to bring it back once you’ve deleted the flight plan. My guess is you’d have to start over from the first leg. It’s definitely do-able without it though, I say go for it :) It’ll be more challenging and rewarding once you complete it.
@@FlightSimSchool yeah, I thought it after the first few legs that removed and you was more on your own so I carried on. Don't feel like restarting now. It's definitely more rewarding as it's not that hard with the Cessna 172 skyhawk anyway. Maybe more so with the other 2 as I've only started on the Croatia one is it? Really fun regardless.
I agree that it's one of the more difficult aspects. What I'd recommend is to do a bit of recon ahead of time, read through all the directions, and cross reference with Google or Bing Maps so get a better idea of where you should be going.
Does anyone know how to change time in the bush series? Currently I'm on the Nevada portion and it's dark, I can't see anything which kind of defeats the whole purpose. You'd think there would be an easy way to move time forward but if there is I can't figure it out. I have an Xbox Series S if that helps.
I believe it's a bug, and there is not much you can do about it on Xbox as far I know (on PC there are some workarounds). Agreed with you that it defeats the purpose and they should have fixed this already.
@@FlightSimSchool ugh so annoying. It seems so simple that you could just adjust the time to your preferences like so many other games. I guess I’ll just have to let it idle until it’s sunny again lol, thanks for the reply.
flying around the world atm, started off in morning daylight in USA and now im in Thailand every leg is in darkness. Really frustrating as i dont get to see any scenery
so basically if you can't be bothered and don't really care for the achievement just go into free roam. grab a jet. and smash into whatever building you like.
Someone else was asking me about this, their solution was to just leave the sim open on the ground until night passes. It’s clearly a major bug on flight sim’s part

Great video but I use google maps and do the flight in my head while following it on the map then go fly it pretty easy

How does the power setting to match the navlog flying time?
You have to get your airspeed to match what’s written for each navlog entry. It won’t be 100% perfect
Thank you for discussing with me, but navlog don't show the speed, no matter GS or IAS or TAS, maybe I should calculate GS to IAS by E6B?
Thats weird, I could have sworn it shows some form of airspeed on the built in navlog

is the wind direction always the same for all the legs? i keep getting 060 at 13kts basically....
