I tuned into this skit and it was the first time I watched SNL, been watching ever since.. Very funny writing and acting. The legacy of actors is incredible. Kudos to the cast always--and for not being afraid to be topical.
"I want my hair to look just like yours, mama."---Sally Pierson, on the day that she got her bandages off, and she is hardly "a pain" to her new parents. 🙂👍❤️
Omg... These ladies were truly amazing! :D Not enough credit is given to comediennes, past or present. I mean, that last line, and how it was delivered: "...I might." XDDDDDD Nostalgiaaaaa
When she said at 2:56 - "Now I really want to get married--Not!" We think of ending a sarcastic sentence with "Not!" as something people came up with in the '90s, but apparently they did it at least as far back as the '70s!
I was thinking the very same thing. I thought adding "Not!" to the end of a sarcastic sentence originated w/ another SNL sketch, "Wayne's World." And I was a kid in the '70s. I should know better!
I noticed that it was Laraine that said it...I wonder if it was a California thing that caught on later. Laraine says in an interview that Marilyn Suzanne Miller wrote this sketch, but she might have let them throw their own ad lib"flourishes" in.
I clearly remember watching this sketch when it first aired - especially that last line “I might.” In fact, I was actually AT a slumber party at the time! Staying up late to watch SNL was the last word in edgy cool when I was in 7th grade! 👍🏼 Does anyone know the air date of this episode?
Bob, that's spelled Jane Curtin _(_Kate & Allie_),_ not Curtain 🎦. And furthermore, it's spelled the late ⏰ Madeline Kahn _(_Cosby_),_ not Khan. Plus, in addition ➕ to the late ⏰ Gilda Radner, don't forget Laraine Newman.
The really funny part of this to me is...in 1976, I was 11. Catholic school girl, extremely sheltered. My friend Laurie and I that year would get on the phone after school and look things up in the encyclopedia, and share what we learned about human reproduction 😅...whispering and giggling in the phone in our respective parents' bedroom so nobody heard us. 😂
The studio audience actually laughed out loud during this sketch, unlike the "VIP" audience members today that sit quietly during SNL sketches, or clap like seals when a "star" makes an appearance.
I love that Madeline says that the man says, "Why don't you slip into something more comfortable." She says nearly the same thing in Blazing Saddles. But she says she's going to slip into something more comfortable to Sheriff Bart. So she can seduce him.
How can I find the episode of SNL with Buck Henry as Uncle Roy tricking the girls into lifting their nightgowns over their head so he could take pictures of their underwear? Frankly I'm surprised that the actresses (Lorraine Newman and Gilda Radner??) went along with it.
Gilda's terrific in this. Love her talking to her mom upstairs.
This is not as well known as some other classics, but it should be. The "I might" at the end is such a great last line.
Brilliant.
@@premanadi Yep 👍🏻, on the May 8, 1976, episode of _Saturday Night 🌚 Live_ with the late ⏰ Madeline Kahn _(_Cosby_)_ as guest hostess, of course.

That was quite droll ! Four VERY funny ladies at the top of their game ! THANKS for uploading !

I think they also said it in a couple of Nerds sketches.
I noticed it too. I always thought it was a Wayne's World thing first.
I think Laraine Newman invented more southern California-isms than we all realize. One of her characters was the OG valley girl stereotype.
1:28 Jane reacts to what Laraine tells her before she even said it lol
Been looking all over for this!

@@TD-tg5hl The sketch was vaguely familiar. When Gilda said "I might"....it all came back.
@@joelbrittain6379 That was Laraine.
@@TD-tg5hl With the late ⏰ Madeline Kahn _(_Cosby_)_ as guest hostess, of course.
The way Gilda looks scared when she says, don’t…ok!
I'm positive I had that slumber party haha
Laraine looks possessed in the sketch. And it really works
Yes, very similar to her in the Exorcist sketch.
"Have a baby! RIGHT NOW!!"
4:30 Laraine holding her breath.
😅😅
Excellent skit!!! Talent+++
Mad Kahn - super star, the rest of them pretty super too
Miss. Kahn was very strapping!
Boogers are true.

Madeline Kahn...Oh Boy
RIP Madeline and Gilda.
boogers are true
There has never been a better combination of comediennes on-screen.
Ironic how the girl who showed the most revulsion to the idea, ends up saying '' i might ! ''
Lorraine Newman
Great writing, as well as acting.
Heartfelt❤
Madeline Khan is so brilliant in this, she makes it great. You can tell she's done theater. And even comedic theater. Improv.
I was 12 when this aired, and Loraine Neumann sounds exactly like my 10 year old granddaughter. 🥰
I was 13!

OMG - that is exactly how I learned about sex, at a friend's slumber party on 10/29/1965.
The guest hostess on this May 8, 1976, episode of _Saturday Night 🌚 Live_ was the late ⏰ Madeline Kahn _(_Cosby_)._
Burgers are true ... 😂😂😂😂😅
RIP Mizz Guilda.
And Madeline too
Jim, that's spelled the late ⏰ Gilda (but not Guilda) Radner.
It doesn't get better than this.
Nope 👎🏻🙅🏻!
Yes this was the way it is done.

Lol
Those some extraordinarily tall, well-cosmeticed preteens 😶
Nothing that’s sickening is true. Obviously pre internet 😂

I hope they fired the audio man working that night.
