- This machine, although sporting a non standard exhaust, is pretty near standard but due for some tuning work. This can be treated as a 'before' evaluation.
Saving up money for a continental GT, hopefully in a few months I'll have it.
This model is discontinued and now Continental GT 650 has arrived..you must take a look at that, packed with 650cc twin cylinder
Very beautiful motorcycle, I own one for 4 years now, love it from day one. Recently had a major breakdown.
What happened?
What
Yourself or the bike?
same thought lol @@travisperkins100
Cool bike , nice country side there Paul ! Thanks a bunch.
Absolutly lovely viedo and Royal. Thank you for doing something like that
Nostalgia buffs would love these bikes fitted with a Hitchcock and other performance parts. Have to be a niche industry in that for riders with realistic expectations.
Lovely machine.. Thanks for your time.
Thank you too!
Wonderful sound from a real beauty.
Royal Enfield Continental GT 535cc and 650cc Cafe Racer is my dream machine ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
loving the sound
I hear lots of bad stuff about the Enfield, but it's sure a good-looking bike.
Sounds lovely
Thank you!
Nice paint job,,and the transfer look great
I watch videos like this... Not for bikes... But for that roads and country sides
Apple Green Royal Enfield Continental GT 535cc Cafe Racer ❤❤❤❤
Just bought one.. A beauty
Crisp throttle response... Sounds like someone's gone road racing on a Farmall tractor.
nice vidéo and nice sound !
Crickey. I though the speedo was in MPH when you were riding - lol. The world was flashing past like in Back to the Future. Do you ever meet a train on the crossing?
Yes, there are a fair number of trains each day, it is the Swansea to Shrewsbury line, so always best to look both ways!
btw. I would love to see what effect the inlet cam mod alone would have before the major work is done.
Good friend, what muffler tip is tr, I appreciate it, it sounds very nice
That wasn't my bike, I just worked on it, but it may have been a Motad silencer, possibly.
Is the Carberry vibration reduction plate worth fitting or is it just a bit of snake oil?
I wouldn't fit one, it basically tries to contain any flex or runout at the mainshaft, potentially straining the crankpin in doing so.
@@paulhenshaw4514 thanks for your reply.
whereabouts is all that lovely scenery please?
Carmarthenshire, near Llandovery.
thanks @@paulhenshaw4514
Amazing ride.
Thanks - there is another video of this machine after I tuned it, which you might like.
A great video, of a smashing bike, in some of the best countryside.
Carmarthenshire takes some beating!
Thanks and glad you like the video, have you seen my other video of this machine, after it was tuned?
Paul Henshaw
I've had a quick look. Even then, I could hear the difference. It sounded much crisper. Was it more responsive?
Hoping to get hold of one soon, and think that the green ones look particularly good. I think that your clients bike has some nice detail changes.
The bike was totally transformed, gaining nearly 2000 rpm and probably capable of 100 mph plus.
Given that the original horsepower has been measured elsewhere as as around 20bhp would you be getting 30 + from this?
I used to think one needed about 24 to hit 85, given optimised gearing, but that was a guesstimate
I have no idea what the power is now, or was before, but there is a substantial increase.
You stated earlier that you were hoping it would hit the ton . Do you think it would get near that and, given all the stories by [modern] journos, did you find the vibration acceptable?
I weigh 15st and was crouched, but not flat on the tank, also I ran out of straight before the revs peaked, so the 'Ton' could be possible. The owner mentioned bad vibration as it was prior to tuning, I don't think it was too bad myself, but it is smoother now, since the tuning work and parts.
Thanks Paul
@शिरीष ರಾಮಾಯ What counts is what it is at the back wheel. I own this bike now and I'd say it's about 30.
Cool looking bike x
paul, smashing video - how did you find it comfortwise please?
Thanks, Ian. I have ridden a few of these that I have worked on to date and found them quite comfortable, although, to be fair, I have not traveled very far or for very long on any of them and I don't struggle with a slightly crouched riding position [yet]!
@@paulhenshaw4514 ta for reply, much appreciated
i do own one red 2014,also with an hitchkock kit motad exhaust line dynojet power commander and kn air filter,a lot of people says bad thing about this bike but they probably never did ride an 50's-60's britisch bike,i love this bike fun to ride, great frame, for me there is 3 bad points 200 more kilos is a way to much for a cafe racer, and yes 10 more breack horses, and in my country damned they are a way to hell expensive, brembo are not the top one but , did you ride an classic with drums breack ??????
Yes, the drum brakes can be set up to work very well.
Wasn't that "wheeze" sound at the turn of the key supposed to be of a fuel injector pump? You said the owner has fitted a carb!
Watch the start of the video and listen carefully and you will see this is a test run taken BEFORE fitting the carb kit !!
Paul Henshaw sorry! My bad. Couldn't hear it first time
No problem - I usually do a 'before' and an 'after' video on jobs like this, for comparison - this video is the 'before'.
Where did the emblem come from for the top of the tank near the filler? Looks different than the one on my 535 gt
I am not sure, as I don't own the bike, but if I remember, I think it had been resprayed, so maybe it was put on then.
It looks like there's a choke on the left handle bar controls?
I know it's a fuel injected engine so what does that lever do?
Its a fast idle switch for warming the bike up.
the staccato of that engine roar is too intoxicating .....
I like the colour
osmmm bike yaar its mah dream.
I love the bike but it sounds just like my ride on lawnmower..I'm liking the new 650 twin.
what is backpressure and how freeflow exhaust affect engine?
Backpressure is something you don't want and a free flowing exhaust will help avoid / get rid of it.
Dear Paul,
That is an awesome mod job! I wanted to know how much of a performance increase would the Hitchcocks's performance kit give me (Part no. 90605 on their website). I am already running their Motad exhaust with header pipe, K&N filter and Power Commander V.
The exhaust system has given the bike some punch, I am guessing it does 0-100 in about 8.5 seconds. And of course sounds good too.
Please let me know your inputs, that would be great.
Please bear in mind this is the 'before' video! There is a lot more about this bike and what was done on my Performance Classics Facebook page ... facebook.com/groups/132597770120179/
Never have understood why everyone wraps that garbage around a magnificent chrome exhaust pipe. It looks shocking.
My thoughts exactly!
@@paulhenshaw4514 Thanks. No one ever agrees with me! Haha. Yeh I hate that crap...probably more than brown seats...
Which exhaust is this?
I don't know, the owner had it fitted before the bike came to my workshop.
How many gears does this bike has??
Five gears.
Why is your mic taking radioactive readings😂
It can be a pain in the a**e, but is very good for picking up pinking noises.
Plaisir à l'anglaise !
I am 1.84 cm , is my height too long for this bike
I shouldn't think so.
Goid sound bad video my friend
Some videos turn out better than others, my friend.
60s technology like a Red phone box
. Has its merrits. Get on an R6 and sing a different tune boyo.
I've ridden stuff like that, but they don't do anything much for me, boyo.
Horses for courses.
I love it it’s just like a night out with the ex wife🤫
Don't think I've met her, so I wouldn't know ...
@@paulhenshaw4514 Exactly the same. About to go out and buy a RE but it’s not simple.Im 60 still riding rocket ships mostly triumph.Had a go on a classic 500 it made me happy and laugh for two months after.Brilliant.
Interesting Dual Carriage ways, M ways are 70, Derestricted roads 60. This loses interest after 80 👎🏻
This was before any tuning work, there is another, more interesting video of this machine after the work was done!
hahaha electric start on a Royal Enfield.
