Back in WW2 they held baseball games between US army sides at Windsor Park football stadium here in Belfast Northern Ireland. The teams were made up from baseball pros who'd been drafted into the armed forces. There's photographs of the ground packed to the gills with spectators made up of GIs stationed here and bemused locals just wanting a welcome break from the harsh realities of air raids and food rationing.
You had The Diamond in Richmond, VA listed as the Worst MInor League stadium, but when the AAA Richmond Braves were there, it used to host an annual Exhibition game between the Atlanta Braves and some random MLB team once a year before the MLB season began. Imagine that!! 😊
The MLB Little League Classic is played the first Sunday of the Little League World Series at BowmanFieldinWilliamsport, Pennsylvania. The participants of that year's LLWS attend, plus others with sponsorship tickets plus locals who get tickets through a lottery from MLB. The ballpark has been around since 1926. It used to host Class AA baseball, then Short Season A. It's the home of the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League.
Jays at the big O in Montreal were spring training games before heading to Toronto for the start of the regular season. Covid halted that for now. There is a large fan base in Montreal, but the stadium has always been a problem. They left because there wasn't any commitment from local groups and governments. A 35 - 40k seat retractable roof stadium, downtown, is what's needed to have the Expos return to Montreal. FYI - I'm from Toronto and am a Jays diehard, but really miss the Expos.
you could have added BC Place in Vancouver, Canada. The Mariners played an exhibition game there. I remember that specifically because Edgar Martinez got injured during the game.
Was hoping to see Charles Schwab Field in Omaha (formerly TD Ameritrade Park) where the college world series is played. The Tigers played the Royals here for one official MLB game in 2019. Also, the Blue Jays started their 2021 season at their spring training field in Dunedin, Florida, (TD Ballpark) for two months.
I enjoy watching a lot of your videos Depressed Ginger! I think it would be cool to have a stadium (with the largest seating capacity possible, like 100,000 or more, if that is even possible) have permanent seating for both football and baseball so that you never have to move the seating at all or push the seats up like they do at the Minnesota Vikings stadium to host Minnesota Golden Gophers college baseball! The Alamodome has the right idea to host many different events, but right field for baseball needs to be 325 feet (or whatever the shortest possible distance allowed is for MLB's standards from home plate for regular season and postseason games). The perfect stadium also needs to not become Mount Davis in Oakland and have scenic views of the hills or mountains and have plenty of natural light coming into the stadium.
That would be awful for viewing at least one of the sports, if not both. Baseball and football require different sightlines, and you'd have a large gap between the outfield fence and football sideline on at least one side. And 100k seats in a baseball stadium will never get filled, leaving the most massive amount of empty seating imaginable. It's a bad idea even though it's theoretically possible.
For the Fort Bragg game, they built that entire field from the ground up, removed the seating and whatnot afterwards but left the field for Fort Bragg to use.
7:51 While there have been no regular season MLB games played at the Superdome, in 1992 when the Houston Astrodome was booked to host the Republican National Convention that year, there was talk of the Superdome holding some Astros home games but it was said the National League would not allow for it and resulted in the Astros taking a 26 game road trip during that time instead.
Can confirm the canceled games in Montreal. I have paper tickets for both games. Super weird having tickets for something that never happened. Hope they bring those spring training games back. It was a blast!
I remember the 1976s expo games in the Superdome. It was the Astros and I think Pittsburg. It was a two game series. If you look at the picture at 8:04, during the first game the field was not marked correctly. The "running lane" marker was put on the third base foul line by mistake instead of the 1st base line. This was correct for the second game as shown in one of the other stills.
The most fun one of these was the one in Sydney, which at first looked to me like Churchill Downs! The situation at US Bank in Minneapolis is a fallback plan in case they have a blizzard in April (it happens).
Cleveland played Minnesota in San Juan PR the season after the big hurricane. The stadium was about the only places that had lights. The Indians were very close to moving to New Orleans in the 1970s. There was a plan to play 30 or so home games at the Superdome but someone (Nick Meleti perhaps) bought the team and committed to keeping them in cleveland
The Dodgers and D-backs opened the 2014 season in Sydney, not 2012. Vin Scully made an exception of not traveling outside of California to broadcast those games on the Dodgers' radio network. (He had always wanted to go to Australia but because of his schedule he was unable to.) The very first Field of Dreams game was epic. To see the players emerging from the corn fields behind the outfield wall was surreal. Tim Anderson's walk-off HR was the stuff movies are made out of. They followed that classic up with a dud of a second game between the Cubs and Reds, two of the worst teams in baseball at that time. (By comparison, the White Sox were competitive, and the Yankees were consistently in the postseason.) The White Sox should ALWAYS host the Field of Dreams game and make that the first of a three-game series against a random team. (Thursday's FOD game, day off Friday, Saturday and Sunday at CWS.)
Oakland A's opened at Cashman field in Las Vegas , I think april 1996 , One of the longest games ever , one of the series , 17 innings if I remember right . My babysitter was pissed, LOL .
High school baseball games also play at US Bank Stadium. My team was one of the first high school games there. With the glass roof, fly balls were awful. I've certainly thought that it would be an awesome spot for an exhibition game, but I don't think they would go for it.
I could see the Twins playing at Us Bank Stadium if they ever make the World Series. Since it even drags into November now I don't see how they could play that time of year at Target Field.
dont count on it, unless it's a dire emergency (similar to the problem the series had with the 1989 earthquake), it would be a PR nightmare for one. They'd delay games until the snow forecast would be over and still play at Target Field. And even then, they might consider a different stadium that's already of MLB like Milwaukee or even Texas.
You forgot Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. At the time in June 2019, the field was called TD Ameritrade Field and hosted an MLB game between the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers. The field is famous for hosting the NCAA College World Series every year since 2011.
You forgot TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, NE for the MLB College Classic a few years ago, a regular season game played before the College World Series got underway. Ironically, Kansas City "hosted" Detroit in the home of the Royals' Triple-A team in Omaha. Televised on ESPN that night.
Umm… Sydney Cricket Ground, not Grounds. That series also had a limited window where it had to be played between the end of cricket season and the start of the football season. Australian Rules football evolved to be played on cricket grounds so no multi purpose stadium issues here because the two sports literally use the same facilities.
The London stadium not here ! It's only couple of weeks until St Louis v Chicago Cubs as i write this but the 1st ever games there in 2019 v Yankees / Red Sox were superb. As you'll probably know the London stadium was the main Olympic stadium in 2012 and now a days its the regular home of West Ham Utd FC.
Sydney Cricket Ground has hosted, in the past, rugby union international matches, rugby league matches, and of course, many cricket matches. The stadium was basically expanded and had modern grandstands built, but the old grandstand from the original construction in the 19th Century was never touched. It was kept, probably refurbished some.
One thing we can say is SCG is not good stadium for baseball, great for AFL,NRL,CRICKET ,the massive massive faul area will make any hardcore baseball fan mad.
The London Series is back later this month, Cardinals vs Cubs, in the stadium which seems too easy to poke a homer, especially to 390 ft away in center field. Btw, in 2024 it will be Phillies vs Mets in London.

I'm starting to think you've never attended a MLB or a AAA MiLB game. I went to some Yankee games in the Superdome. Not bad but the place is way to big for MLB. The Astrodome would fit inside the Superdome.
The Orioles actually played the Cuban national team in 1999. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Baltimore_Orioles%E2%80%93Cuba_national_baseball_team_exhibition_series
Toronto should have lost their franchise because of how Canada acted during Covid, mlb should have stepped in and moved the blue jays to buffalo, Indy, charlotte, or Nashville. Permanently
Back in WW2 they held baseball games between US army sides at Windsor Park football stadium here in Belfast Northern Ireland.

I play Tim Anderson's walk off home run in the Field of Dreams at least a million times a year. That game was one of the best games ever!
You had The Diamond in Richmond, VA listed as the Worst MInor League stadium, but when the AAA Richmond Braves were there, it used to host an annual Exhibition game between the Atlanta Braves and some random MLB team once a year before the MLB season began. Imagine that!! 😊
It was meant to partly emulate Fulton County Stadium, and be expanded IF Richmond (or SE Virginia overall) got an MLB team.
The MLB Little League Classic is played the first Sunday of the Little League World Series at BowmanFieldinWilliamsport, Pennsylvania. Respect the grind and I usually like your videos but man slow down, you’re gonna run out of ways to talk about the same stadiums 😭
I've heard that it's the RUclips algorithm that is the problem. Content creators burn out trying to make the algorithm push their channel.
Right. I'm going to block him. Goodbye ginger. Trying way too hard

Agree. Between that and not providing a source link when doing a video based on an article, it's starting to get annoying.
Aloha Stadium used to be the home of the Pirates AAA team.
The Dunedin Jays v Sox game was awesome!
This guy really likes stadiums 😂

The Brooklyn Dodgers played some games in 1956 and 1957 in Roosevelt stadium in Jersey City. Contemplated moving there before going to LA

Went to the 2016 pre-season game at Olympic Stadium, Blue Jays vs Boston, it was a huge thing to see Big Papi's in his last season play.

USBank Stadium actually has two baseball configurations. Many Minnesota colleges play there at all hours of the night.
Fantastic. I'm taking my mom to a Field of Dreams game soon than later
The Blue Jays also played the start of their season in 2021 in Dunedin the spring training stadium

San Juan has hosted series several times before that too. And actually hosted 1/3 of the Expos home schedule for the 2 years before they moved
