  • Drip Rail rust is not always outwardly visible at a casual glance. Thankfully this isn't worse than it is. Stay tuned to see how I fix it! I'm kinda curious myself!

Rust around the roof sucks. I hope it is not as bad as it looks. Glad to see you’re back in the shop!

great work getting that sealed and the tip for the trim, for sure looks like a pain. and project always becomes more and longer then it first starts to be

Thanks! Sorry that I missed this comment for so long. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was. This repair should be better than the original pinch welds 👍

I was told the best way to remove the trim was with a Keychain style bottle opener, just wrap the end in tape so it doesn't scratch up or dent the trim.

That's cool. I tried something similar but it was bending the lip on the trim since it was all glued down. Bummer. 👍🏼👍🏼

THAT looks like a pain. Remind me to never pretend to be brave enough to try it.

Ha! I'm going to try something a little "unconventional" to fix it :)

Great video. My truck doesn't even have the moulding at all!

I guess that saves you the headache of not destroying it while taking it off :)

As far as I know you can snap some on if you want them. There aren't any welded on clips or anything.

@@HFG I'll have to look at what's available when I do this to my own truck. Thank you.

I got the same truck color and all

That's sweet!! This is one of my favorite color combos. I wonder if the single cab short beds are kind of rare. I've only seen one other one IRL. All of the others have been long beds.

Mine's completely rusted on the top and half of it's missing, extra holes on the side for more fun

There's a guy who's working on making replacement fronts. Hopefully he gets his production worked out. Lots of people need them. He's on one of the Facebook groups 👍🏼

@@HFG The trim is pristine, but the metal it clips on above the windshield is all destroyed

    • @HFG
      @HFG  10 месяцев назад

That sucks. There are still some decent trucks available if yours is too fare gone.

@@HFG It's got 3 holes on the top of the cab, 2 on the bed, and one on the lower cab corner, rest is small surface rust on the hood and roof, surface rust on frame, I live in south texas so it's not too bad just need to take care of the holes, which are only a couple inches wide each or smaller

  • @garyjohnson801

You can use a church key with some tape on it. That's what we did at the body shops. I'm not going to put that molding back on. Because I have to replace the drip rail on the front above the windshield but it's not as bad as yours. But I'm also going to put Eastwoods rust ecapsulator for frame rails by removing the Sunvisor and sticking the tube up in the 2 piece cab and spraying it full of the ecapsulator to stop it from coming back and I Suggest you do it to or yours will rust back. Remember work smart not hard and if it's worth doing right then it's worth doing right the first time
