Awesome stuff, Tom! One quick thought, 8:20 the 300X actually has the largest battery at 608Wh, the Max G2 551Wh, with the Apollo Go being 540Wh. Watt Hours = Amp Hours × Voltage or total energy available. Example; the calculation for the Apollo would be 15Ah x 36v = 540Wh. NIU is a bit confusing about it's battery because they list it both as 608Wh but also 13Ah. Well 13Ah x 48v = 624Wh. Working the stated watt hours in reverse, 608Wh divided 48V is 12.666Ah, so maybe they're just rounding to 13Ah. Either way, the NIU is between 608Wh (min) and 624Wh (max) giving it the largest "fuel tank" of the bunch.
Tom, you're breaking new ground and setting new scooter review standards every time you upload a video. No other big scooter channel is taking 3 of the most popular scooters within a given classification, purchasing with their own money and then comparing them so thoroughly. Even good channels like ESG who provide solid data, often stroke the manufacturer minimizing a downside while attributing it as an upside. Example... "it takes a bit further to stop than others in its class but maintenance it super low thanks to its front drum brake" Translation: It has the longest braking distances when compared to its 5 closest competitors no thanks to the front drum. A disc brake and spare set of pads have a cost of $18.73 and we're already marketing this scooter at X price point." This $ difference might be a deal breaker for someone who's shopping $399 scooters while the person with a $1000 budget would likely say, "give me the front disc for crying out loud! It could save my life and I'll pay the difference."

I bought a ninebot max g2 about 4 days ago and have already put 120km on it. It’s incredible!! I’m a teen and only 130lbs so it has absolutely no problems for me. I haven’t run it all the way out of battery yet but I’ve estimated it will get me around 50-55km of range with my light weight which is amazing
Congrats! It’s definitely a solid scooter, especially if you’re lighter weight. Plus it’s based off the G30p series which basically has legendary reliability.
Thank you so much! It’s definitely an adventure testing these scooters out and seeing how they do in different scenarios. Can’t wait until fall though when the temps start dropping haha.
Thank you! There were so many folks asking question about each of these so I figured it might be best to make a comparison video haha. Sometime it’s hard to decide which scooter to buy because they are so close in a lot of categories.
This was excellent-I feel ready to make my purchase now! The impact of the lighting design on nighttime FOV hadn't occurred to me, but my neighborhood has a few nervy intersections that would be deeply unsafe if I could only see in front of me. The worst one is also the one I have to go through the most often, so that's enough for me to get the Apollo Go.
Thank you! The lighting makes a huge difference. There are some poorly lit areas around where I live and after some rain a pothole developed on what’s otherwise been a perfect road. Had I not had the GO’s lighting that night I would have likely rode right into it. The vertical stem light also helps make you very visible at night. Hard to miss.
Good video! In future videos, I would like to see the Portability session mention the physical size too, for people trying to shove it into smaller trunks. Also a small section for security would be cool. For example I can't make my Apollo turn-on into Park-Mode automatically, and I can't disable park mode without my phone (e.g with an on screen pin code). My Gotrax requires a pin every time it's turned on which I really like. Obv someone can pick it up, but at least they can't ride it away.
Very nice and comprehensive video! I just got a Max G2 after comparing these 3 with your help and very pleased with it at the $899 price point. Thank you! And congrats on the new scooter. Yah the G2 is awesome for the price. It’s a permanent part of my little scooter collection now. Segway’s app is also fantastic and you have a huge community around the scooter.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Yeah I think so too. I think it feels pretty safe and comfortable to ride. I was looking for a different brand but after watching your multiple videos on the KQI300 x i knew i should just stay with NIU products. Great stuff man looking forward to more of your reviews.
It took Tom's Gadget Garage and ESG (the only two reviewers properly weighing scooters) for Apollo to finally update the weight of the GO from 46 to 49lbs on their website. It's always nice to eventually see truthful specifications make their way before consumers. When price is factored in, a think the 300x is a clear stand out here, currently at $891 but was as low as $829 just 2-3 weeks ago. It will likely hit that again this Nov. For those who don't need or want apps and also like the C-Type suspensions of the larger sport scooters, the updated 2024 Mantis 8 can be had right now for $854 using the 5% discount code. This is a 53lb (advertised) more powerful 500W X2, 48V, 623Wh, longer range, 8" wheeled option to the GO for about $300 less. Advertised speed is 25mph but GPS users are seeing 26-28mph. Unfortunately you give up the water resistance, contemporary design, superior stem locking, lighting and app features of the GO.
I didn't realize they updated the weight on their website. That's awesome :). It all started with you, and your suggestion to start weighing these things, so thank you! Some weight figures out there are way off. I've heard many good things about the Kaabo Mantis scooters but have never tested one out. If I'm lucky, I might in the future, haha.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Yeah, kudos Apollo. The way you go about things, it was just a matter of time before you came up with the idea yourself. Yes, I'll bet they'd love to send you one! I owned a Mantis King GT, put about 700mi on it but ended up selling it, otherwise I could have loaned it to you to try. It was a very good machine overall and fun to ride. Quite lightweight for its performance and 10lbs lighter than anything with its range, speed and acceleration. It was possibly one of the 3 the best off-road scooters ever made. It had some suspension clunking that I improved with a mod but didn't fix all the way. The stem also has some flex/wiggle and it has some creaks in the stem or deck. The coil springs were starting to sag and its ride height was already lower than when new. Most of these things were minor and could be fixed or improved but it became a redundant scooter when I got the GX3, which is build like a tank and is the new off-road machine. Sometimes I wish I could keep them all but I've been trying to stick to 5-6 at any one time. We'll see how that goes. haha
Great video! I think the only thing i would include that you didn't would be the release date of each scooter. I get you're comparing suspension, but Niu didn't have any(kqi3max) when the Max G2 was released.
This is a great review, I currently have two scooters that I ride with my wheelchair, the Zero 10 and Apollo Explorer . My next scooter that I am considering is the Apollo Go
I have the ninebot max g2 and the Segway GT2. Two completely different scooters but the only complaint I have on both of them is the mode control. On a 45 MPH scooter I shouldn't have to look at the display to tell what mode I'm in. On top of that if you bump the mode on the GT2, you might get surprised by the power. Changing modes on both is frustrating. Other than that, I love both scooters.
I’ve heard great things about the GT2. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the design of that scooter. Yah the Max G2 mode button location is unfortunate. With the heat, I’ve been riding late afternoon and into the evenings so I regularly have to turn on the headlight. It’d be nice to have a control pad for those functions. They are coming out with a turbo mode of sorts in a future firmware update. Should ramp up the G2’s acceleration and speed. We’ll see haha.
@@tomsgadgetgarage I love both scooters. The GT2 is pure pleasure to ride. I would like to try some apollos also. I didn't know about the firmware. Thanks.
Tbh, i have both scooters, But i really like ninebot max G2 , There is no comparisons in ride quality of both scooters, Apollo go is really bad on bumpy rods or even on side walks, The only thing i like in apollo is regenrative brake, otherwise there is not much difference in pickup or speed and light as well, apollo go got 180° front stem light but that is not really strong like they show in videos, even it covers more area but it's not bright and doesn't goes far as like max g2, I specially oerders apollo go after ninbot g2 just to see the difference, but i personally like G2, Speed, pickup or styleish is not everything , ride quality really matters, Max G2 has really good suspensions ,wider deck, stability, and Anti theft alarm system makes this scooters really safe, So if you guys wanna buy one of these for regular use just go for Maz G2, otherwise if you guys really have nice roads in your area, you not gonna ride it on sidewalks then apollo go is good idea if pjckup and top speed really matters for you, but there is not much difference anyway, For ride quality go for Max G2... Thanks...
Excellent Video - thanks a lot. You have not been covering the folding mechanisms of these scooters (in detail) and the charging time and charger options. I think that the folding mechanism of the NIU (which I have owned before) is the best of the three. Nevertheless I have returned my NIU because I did not like the average suspension (you have mentioned it in the video) and the gas lever. Currently I am using an Apollo GO (which is not easy to find here in Austria/Europe) - and I really love it. I think it's worth the money.
Thank you! The folding mechanism on the 300X is definitely nice. I also really enjoy the GO. It's currently my go-to commuter, as it has a good blend of performance, comfort, and features.
Im thinking of going with the Apollo Go, I just wish it had a little more range. The motors quick disconnects on the Go that help take the wheels off is what I really like about that scooter because i plan on doing the maintenance and repairs myself, i don't know if the G2 or the 300x have that or if any other scooter has that feature. I don't want to take the whole thing apart to remove the wheels like on the G30P
Awesome explanation Tom, thank you for taking the time to put together all this stuff......I have a quick question for you, which one will you choose leaving aside the price? I have an opportunity to get any of these options at same price. Thanks in advance :)
Great fun, I enjoyed the vid! They are all nice, for various reasons. I'm new to scooters(I have a NIU Kqui2) and am thinking a full suspension scooter will be mine within the next year or so. Highboy also makes a full suspension scooter that has 11" inch tires. I'd like to hear your thoughts about that model some time. It would be nice to have a water bottle mount to the down tube, like on a bike, on scooters. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!
The Hiboy MAX Pro is only $675 right now using 5% discount. Large 694-720-ish watt hour battery with great range. Only 650W peak so might be a challenge on hills if you're over 165lbs.
Haha! Thank you! I definitely considered it but held back because some folks may value certain categories more than others. I’ll tally it all up in the blog post though.
Thanks! Well, I’ve been torn on this actually. I see tons of rental scooter sitting out in the baking sun and they all appear to be doing fine. Of course, those are more or less disposable with how people treat them. My garage gets up to 110F and cools down to about 93. I’ve stopped parking my car in there as that will spike the temps up to 120-130F lol. I have moved some of the scooters to a temperature controlled facility but keep the ones I’m actively testing/riding in the garage.
I'm leaning towards the Niu KQi300x. Can you lmk your thoughts of the 300p you got? Buying a Chinese scooter scares me. I need to be able to access spare parts if there is an issue. Do you know anything about their customer service?
Just curious which one would you recommend for me, I will use it to commute to school which is about 6 kilometres there and back. I would like suspensions fast acceleration and speed and I do like the look of the regen break so which if these 3 would you recommend
For what you mentioned above, I’d go with the Apollo GO. It does cost more but it’s a much more refined scooter than the other two plus it’s faster in every respect.
I always enjoy riding with others. Haven’t done any big group rides but I plan on joining when things cool down a bit. It’s been crazy hot, even in the morning.
Best comparison ever Could you help me it is the first time i will ride a scooter and i am confused between f2 pro and max g2. I will : - ride on city streets but it has lots of irregularities and bumps. - i will carry it from and to my house on the second floor where there is no elevator. - will use it for my walks around my home and in my vacations.
Thank you! The F2 Pro has many of the benefits of the G2, but at a lower price. You don’t get a rear suspension but it has one up front. It’s also about 14 lbs lighter which will help with carrying it around. Me personally, if I’m going to need to travel around with it, take it up flights of stairs, I’d take the F2 Pro. Much lighter.
@tomsgadgetgarage I took you advice and bought this morning the f2 pro ..... if you can make a video for riding tips ( how to balance, legs best position, ... etc ) for beginners like me, it will be great.
I bought the Segway max g2 but returned. It weighs 51 (53)pounds and it sucks having to fold it and carry it when getting on the trolley and bus. I also felt like it was too bulky. The suspension is dope though! It’s really comfortable to ride. I’m looking into getting the Apollo Go now
Hey! So acceleration was set to max for all three and I conducted multiple runs. One thing I’ve noticed with many scooters is that the speed on the scooter’s display often overstates the actual speed. In some cases, the speed will show X mph even though the scooter is still crawling up to that speed. One important point that I don’t know I mentioned in this video. With gear I’m 203lbs.
I purchased Kqi300x in Austria. I don’t understand whether or I will have to fill air in it? It’s mentioned as “tubeless self-healing tyres”. So I still have to fill air in it and if yes how much?
It would be nice if you weren’t so biased about the Apollo they must’ve given you huge kickbacks when you first got that scooter from them for free because I’m matter what I heard all of the bikes Apollo was still so great even though it had faults. I have the nine bot G2 and it’s a blast. I do wish it was faster. I do wish it would accelerate faster and higher top speed but having a huge battery pack that I can give to Myles but that’s not what that’s for that’s for long distance so I’m happy with mine. I’m sorry that you were not.
Can you tell me which G2 update firmware you did? I did my 5 day old G2 update and it neutured the scoot so much I took that thing back to Best Buy and got my money back and exchanged it for another G2 with 1.7.0 firmware out of the box. It runs really good. V1.7.6 is horrible for the Segway G2, avoid at all costs, it cuts torque, power, anything to do with speed and torque. The public needs to know this. Avoid V1.7.6 at all cost.
I will check and let you know. That’s one issue I have with the G2. They always significantly change the riding behavior of the G2 with many of their firmware updates. Sometimes these updates come with sacrifices. Every few months it feels like a different scooter lol. Good news is they are rolling out firmware that gives the scooter a hefty performance boost. I haven’t tested it out yet.
@@tomsgadgetgarage I read on reddit that it is v1.11.1 that is suppose offer the big performance boost. I will let others dive into the pool before I do and get man many opinions before I update if ever again.
Hoe do the Pure scooters (UK) compare to these? Most of them have a claimed nominal 500w and 700w peak power, they are very popular in the UK though all the others are harder to find here.
Thank you! I can definitely look at doing that in the future. I did do a mode 3/sport mode range test on the Apollo GO and got 18.34 miles, so less than a mile less than the range at 20mph top speed.
I used to get ~52km on the Max G2 when they first released it in June 2023. After all of their firmware updates, I’ve never been able to achieve that distance again. Also depends on rider weight and riding condition. The less you weigh the more you go.
@@tomsgadgetgarage my weight is 80kilos and i have done all Updates on this and i bought it 2 weeks ago. i see other videos they have similar results, your g2 batterie must be faulty or Something.
I weigh 92 kilos. Battery health in app looks perfect. I’ve covered this scooter extensively, including testing most of the firmware updates and posting video results. My most recent real world results in sport mode with speed capped at 20mph are in line with what some of the larger channels have been able get as well as what some folks are reporting on the forums. I do think 50km+ is possible with a lighter rider, but in my coverage across 17 videos and nearly 15 months of riding this scooter, I have not been able to repeat my 50km+ ride. If you’re able to get 50km+, I would strongly recommend you record the ride and post the video as it could really be helpful for folks looking at what’s possible with an 80kg rider.
@@tomsgadgetgarage there is a video from a guy (in Germany). He make a test After one year of extensive use of this scooter. he also got more than 50km+, the same result after he bought the new scooter. i dont know whats wrong with your scooter (his Weight is also 90 kilos) but he has similar results than i with my scooter (and that after one year of daily use).
I made this video prior to the mass release of firmware 1.11.1. I’ve tested boost mode and definitely agree it’s an improvement. I will be retesting the hill climb ability of the Max G2 very soon. Segway has done a good job at addressing the problems this scooter had when I bought it 15 months ago. I’ve covered nearly all their firmware updates and hope they eventually settle on what they want this scooter to be. It went from a zippy scooter that could almost do a wheelie when released to something that was quite anemic and outclassed in speed and acceleration, then back to a dragon again with boost mode lol. It’s moving in the right direction. That’s definitely an advantage of Segway; they are always pushing out improvements. Yah 1400 watts is crazy. We’ll see how it does on the hill climb. Should do a lot better. Just hope I don’t run out of battery.
Ah yes, I retested that and it’s a significant difference. It’s now a bit faster than the KQi 300X from 0-32kmh which is a HUGE improvement. I’ll include it in the 1.11.1 video.
The Apollo Scooters all look good . But the batteries they use is crap. Had my Apollo Air for less than 5 months of sporadic use and the Battery starts to die. I regret that I didnt buy the Segway G2 because it was on the heavy side the same with the Niu Scooters . Beware of battery issues with Apollo
LOL! There’s no one size fits all here as it’s a comparison between dual motor/single motor scooters, partial suspension vs full suspension, with a $300 difference between the low price and high priced option. I made this video to share objective, real world results. It’s not intended to steer anyone towards any particular scooter. It’s simply to present unbiased facts so that people can make decisions on their own. With that being said, for my needs, I choose the Apollo GO all day everyday as it checks all my boxes. Someone needing more range and is looking to save money should probably go with the 300X. And someone who prioritizes comfort and cost and isn’t as concerned with top speed or acceleration should probably buy the G2.
@@tomsgadgetgarage OK, that is what I was hoping to hear. Just wanted to know your personal choice. Anyhow, I just bought the 300X yesterday, 1st scooter, because of your positive reviews. Seemed like it was the best fit for me at 240 lbs, and because I did not want to spend the extra for the Apollo. Thanks
I think you’re really going to enjoy the 300X. If you max out the settings, you’re going to get pretty intense acceleration if you want it. It’s also a scooter that won’t be easy to outgrow. It has basically everything most people need. Try riding it around with regen brake on and off. I personally ride it with regen off as I don’t need it with the mileage I make on a given ride. With regen on, the moment you let off the throttle it starts to slow down. If you all the sudden accelerate again, it can give the scooter a jerky feeling. This is the case with all scooters with regen. I personally like to coast when letting off the throttle.
@@tomsgadgetgarage It's plenty fast for me. Thanks for the regen tip, I will give it a try. I went to a drag race last night and everyone uses them there. I would have died without it, standing all day and going from the pits to the starting line many times.
I especially like that you do these with your own money and are not persuaded by sponsors. Let's support this channel riders!

That's a good point! I can include that information, especially when comparing scooters with significant gaps between releases.
Thanks.
Fantastic reviews of these scooters.
Many thanks!
Tbh, i have both scooters,
But i really like ninebot max G2 ,
There is no comparisons in ride quality of both scooters,
Apollo go is really bad on bumpy rods or even on side walks,
The only thing i like in apollo is regenrative brake, otherwise there is not much difference in pickup or speed and light as well, apollo go got 180° front stem light but that is not really strong like they show in videos, even it covers more area but it's not bright and doesn't goes far as like max g2,
I specially oerders apollo go after ninbot g2 just to see the difference, but i personally like G2,
Speed, pickup or styleish is not everything , ride quality really matters, Max G2 has really good suspensions ,wider deck, stability, and Anti theft alarm system makes this scooters really safe,
So if you guys wanna buy one of these for regular use just go for Maz G2, otherwise if you guys really have nice roads in your area, you not gonna ride it on sidewalks then apollo go is good idea if pjckup and top speed really matters for you, but there is not much difference anyway,
For ride quality go for Max G2...
Excellent review thank you. We'll done.
Thank you!
Would love bike/helmet reviews like the ones behind your shoot!
I can definitely cover some of the helmets I use in the videos 😊.
Great information, thanks
Thank you!
Yah quick disconnects are huge. Makes changing tires on scooters much easier.
Awesome explanation Tom, thank you for taking the time to put together all this stuff......I have a quick question for you, which one will you choose leaving aside the price? I have an opportunity to get any of these options at same price. Thanks in advance :)
Thank you! I personally love my Apollo GO. Smooth acceleration, all the speed I realistically need, and excellent lighting.
i love these videos they help me alot
Thank you! There are so many options out there so it can be overwhelming haha.
@@Patriot36 Thanks, I read 48 volts on the Hiboy website and figured that was a plus, good price too.
I used to have a cup holder on the handlebars of my apollo ghost 2021. worked great!
Fantastic review! Would be nice to give points, so at the end we can have a clear score about who is the winner :-)
Haha! Thank you! I definitely considered it but held back because some folks may value certain categories more than others. I’ll tally it all up in the blog post though.
Great video. What's your thoughts on storing electric scooters, bikes and EUC's in a garage while living in a hot environment like Arizona?
Thank you
Really nice review , here in europe its hard to find Apollo e_scooter..because it would be my first choice.
Thank you! Hopefully, they will expand out that way soon (with unrestricted speed, haha).
Could you review the inmotion s1f?
Hello! If I can get my hands on one I definitely will. I’ll be reviewing the InMotion Climber soon.
Great video, and very informative, but if you need help just blink once please.
LOL!
I was under the impression that NIU is pronounced ‘new’ and not spelled out. Can someone confirm? (I have just purchased the NIU KQi 300P)
Oh it is, but for some reason I keep spelling it out 🤣
I'm leaning towards the Niu KQi300x. Can you lmk your thoughts of the 300p you got? Buying a Chinese scooter scares me. I need to be able to access spare parts if there is an issue. Do you know anything about their customer service?
I have the kqi 3 pro. It's been amazing..absolutely no issues in its first 650kms. Still rides like day 1...quiet and solid.
The vmax vx4 would have been perfect in this comparison also
I've heard great things about the VX4. I wish I could get my hands on all the scooters, haha.
Do u like to ride in groups or only solo?
I always enjoy riding with others. Haven’t done any big group rides but I plan on joining when things cool down a bit. It’s been crazy hot, even in the morning.
Best comparison ever
Could you help me it is the first time i will ride a scooter and i am confused between f2 pro and max g2.
I will :
- ride on city streets but it has lots of irregularities and bumps.
@@tomsgadgetgarage
Thanks for your help
@tomsgadgetgarage
I took you advice and bought this morning the f2 pro ..... if you can make a video for riding tips ( how to balance, legs best position, ... etc ) for beginners like me, it will be great.
I bought the Segway max g2 but returned. It weighs 51 (53)pounds and it sucks having to fold it and carry it when getting on the trolley and bus. I also felt like it was too bulky. The suspension is dope though! It’s really comfortable to ride. I’m looking into getting the Apollo Go now
did you have fast acceleration turned on? on the max G2 ... i dont feel like 9s is accurate
It’s not. I’ve been waiting for that update for a long time. Once it comes out I will test it out, especially on the mountains.
I purchased Kqi300x in Austria. I don’t understand whether or I will have to fill air in it? It’s mentioned as “tubeless self-healing tyres”. So I still have to fill air in it and if yes how much?
Congrats! They recommend 45-50 PSI. I fill mine to 47.
@@tomsgadgetgarage thanks. Is PSI unit also used in Europe? I never had this experience before actually
I think they use kPa l. Using an online converter, 47 PSI = 324 kPa.
I bought all three with my own hard earned cash 😁.
I feel like I’ve seen more issues with Apollo than the other two
Can you tell me which G2 update firmware you did?
That's awesome a scooter for another day charge one up and off you go
@@snoopysrc haha. I keep these three in rotation to rack up the miles. It would be much nicer if it were about 30 degrees cooler out though 😅.
Hoe do the Pure scooters (UK) compare to these? Most of them have a claimed nominal 500w and 700w peak power, they are very popular in the UK though all the others are harder to find here.
Thank you for you video Your a very underrated reviewer but one request can u make a range test for them but on their full speed not their only 20mph
Thank you! I can definitely look at doing that in the future. I did do a mode 3/sport mode range test on the Apollo GO and got 18.34 miles, so less than a mile less than the range at 20mph top speed.
anything wrong with your ninebot? i do beat easy 50km in s-mode😮
What speed is he riding at? I know European scooter are limited in speed to like 20-25kmh.
Apollo go suspension is trash. I have 600 miles on it. Every ride I have to spray the rear suspension cause it creaks and squeaks. Total bummer
What kind of lubricant are you spraying on the rear rubber block?
boost mode helps so much with the Max G2 unfair comparison
1400w peak
@@tomsgadgetgarage thanks mate. won’t really help with hills. more 0-35kmr test haha
Ah yes, I retested that and it’s a significant difference. It’s now a bit faster than the KQi 300X from 0-32kmh which is a HUGE improvement. I’ll include it in the 1.11.1 video.
Is it just me or you dont blink 😂
LOL! You know, I was editing a video a month or so ago and I thought the same thing. I do blink, just not on camera 🤣
😂😂😂
The Apollo Scooters all look good . But the batteries they use is crap. Had my Apollo Air for less than 5 months of sporadic use and the Battery starts to die. I regret that I didnt buy the Segway G2 because it was on the heavy side the same with the Niu Scooters . Beware of battery issues with Apollo
Sorry to be that guy, but am I the only one that pronounces it "new"?
Ha! I pronounce it “new” as well, but everytime I do a recording, I start spelling it out 🤣.
Get some suspension so you don't feel it in the rear lol.
Haha that’s right!
😀
Dude C'mon, pick one. Don't pander to the manufacturers.
Anytime! Oh wow that a great use case haha. Definitely makes life easier in those cases.
