    Lyrics
I did a terrible thing and somebody should do something about it.
I’m haunted by an eternal return, I never should have allowed it.
I broke my own heart. I’m trying to forgive myself.
but if it gets too close I gotta kill it. I’m gonna need your help.
my annihilation kicked off post boredom
I don’t want be a better liar. I don’t want to make you think
that what you get is what you see just because you want it. this muddy water ain’t deep.
I broke my own heart I’m trying to convince myself.
that I can suffer if I want, motherfucker. just put me back on your shelf
my annihilation started before I did
my annihilation ended before we did
I gave you nothing. you want more? you’ll get more nothing.
come on and give a big man a little thrill. come on and give a sick man his poison pill.
    I don’t want no harm.
I’ve done it all wrong for so long it feels okay.
from up here the parties and funerals, they look the same.
when every morning after is the same day.
I want one more last chance. make me another mistake
all I can take is everything that I have given away.
I walked in with one foot out the door, you knew that I was not gonna stay
I broke my own heart I’m trying to forgive myself.
I don’t give a goddamn about the magic just put me under your spell.
my annihilation kicked off post boredom
I gave you nothing. you want more? you’ll get more.

I can't put into words how much I love this band. They are my whole heart and soul. I'm always happy to see someone discover ETID and love them. Hostile Architecture, Map Change, Floater, I mean the list goes on. You have a lot of catching up to do.

Map change is their most, um, how do you say, "artistic?" it goes hard but it's pretty all over in a good way

This song is definitely a good introduction to them - they have some super hardcore stuff but also some more post-punk rock-y stuff like The New Black and We'rewolf. You're in for a treat going down the ETID rabbit hole!

I’m a Buffalo NY native and these guys have been around for a while you’re right. They have such a very aggressive stage presence and such an upbeat sound. They’re also all about their hometown (Buffalo,NY). Their guitarist Andy Williams does local wrestling (fun) and charities for kids (fantastic).

  • @jbasti227
    @jbasti227 2 года назад +1

Mainly because these were the first 2 songs I heard by these guys years ago and got me instantly hooked, I recommend:
    Wanderlust
    Decayin With The Boys
Really fun songs that showcase the diversity of their hardcore/metal side with their Southern-influenced flair. Similar ones would also include Revival Mode, El Dorado, and We'rewolf.
For some heavier, more chaotic stuff:
    Underwater Bimbos From Outer Space
    For The Record
    Floater
A Colossal Wreck (one from the new album as well and quickly became an all-time favorite for me).
Sorry for the rambling, absolutely love these guys lol

These guys were my very first show ever and I will never forget it. The first song no remember hearing from them back then was We’rewolf. It’s a pretty far departure from this new version of ETID (who I love equally as much). But when you listen to their older stuff and gradually make your way back to this newest album, you’ll hear them grow and adapt styles without losing their edge. It’s what I personally feel makes these guys unique within their genre and why they are one of the best bands around right now.

Firstly, genuinely jealous of the voyage of discovery I recommend you go on! So many albums of a consistently high standard. You can read this up yourself of course, but they’ve always been metalcore at heart, with a distinctly Southern flavour from around the second release onwards. The early days were a bit faster and more math-y, with the middle years exploring some aforementioned southern swagger, followed by a ferocious string of albums kind of combining everything they learned along the way into the last. My personal faves are Hot Damn! (2003), Ex Lives (2012) and Low Teens (2016), but everyone has a different take.
Really looking forward to seeing where this journey takes you if you choose to pursue it! Eight (soon to be nine) records, dozens of bangers. Welcome aboard my man.

Wanderlust is a pretty great all-encompassing gateway into ETID, if you dig it I find it hard to imagine you won't totally love the rest of their discography.
After that, I recommend you check out: Map Change,
    Leatherneck,
    Moor,
C++ (Love Will Get You Killed),
    I Suck (Blood),
    Revival Mode,
    El Dorado,
    Decayin' With the Boys,
    & Petal
Those 10 tracks should give you a roundabout idea of the interesting places their style goes.
Note: I didn't include anything from their first three albums because though I love them, they're simply not as good as everything from The Big Dirty (2007) forward. I think you'll find more appreciation for the oldies once you've already fallen in love with the newer stuff.
EDIT: tons of rock flare but boy o boy do they metal. Would love to see you react to Underwater Bimbos from Outer Space, The Great Secret or Petal if you want them to bring the heavy

Apparently I've been living under the same rock you have, because this was my first time hearing ETID as well. Solid...in addition to the bands you mentioned, I got some Rise Against vibes during the verses. A quick Google explains to me why I thought I recognized the singer--Keith Buckley also sings in The Damned Things, who I am familiar with. That band's first single, "We've Got A Situation Here", is definitely worth checking out on your own time--epic music video as well as kick-ass tune.
