At least you didn't have to face-plant the media blaster for this video. That's gotta hurt. :-P PS: Watch out for Tony's lathe - he'll probably use it to post his video in the past, then give you a copyright strike. LOL
Get AvE on, now THAT would be be an interview, this guy was good too, watched his channel a couple times, does a fantastic job on whatever he works on. If you get AvE on, you'll have give a parental warning because I heard he looks like Elephant Man.
Great interview! I'm a huge fan of Hand Tool Rescue and it was nice to be able to put a voice to the face. The fact that he's a fellow Canadian was a nice surprise bonus!
I got rid of my t v subscription a year ago and don't miss it . I've been a residential carpenter /builder my entire career and the content on RUclips is more informative than anything on television . HTR and ABOM79 are two of my favorite . Thanx
I have noticed Eric doesn't pre-rust what he works on. Neither does he take the finish past how it was from the factory. He doesn't grind the textures off to make a mirror finish destroying the tool. Thank you Eric. Thank you Nate. Do you know what the largest grit sandpaper is? I think #1 grit sandpaper is a pound chunk of sandstone or granite.
I bought one of the adjustable wrenches that he reproduces and it is a pretty amazing piece. It's heavy enough to sub as a hammer if you're in a pinch too! I doubt that I'll ever be in a place where it will work better than what I already have in my shop but I was so impressed with the process that I just had to buy one. I need to now buy it's matching counterpart with the brass adjuster. I really enjoy his channel and wish he would reproduce even more and offer them for sale. I rarely follow channels without some sort of narrative, either. I understand why he doesn't talk more after listening to this, I think.
I am absolutely ecstatic that Eric and other folks are restoring our history. It makes me so sad that so many of these great tools ended up in landfills or melted down for scrap.
Hand tool rescue was the first restoration video i ever watched. The seed was planted I've restored tools, power tools, out door equipment, vintage tin toys. Thanks Eric this a great hobby i have found!!
The lack of originality on RUclips will never change. How many "XYZ vehicle/machine in forest for 20 years Will it run?" videos are there now? Everything has to be identical to feed on the algorithms.
One of his best jokes was him always slapping his head on the sand-blasting machine. I nearly died when he did sort of a camera double take of the covering having been broken.
Great interview, love watching both channels when i need a little inspiration for a project or even just to have playing on the tv in the background as im working on something in the garage
This is at least 20 times faster than the chainsaw climbing delimber, they called a tree monkey, back in the '60s. Instead of a two-stroke chainsaw motor, this runs on hydraulics. It acts more like a block plane than a saw. I imagine this company might know where to find one of the old ones. ruclips.net/video/atrXPArsjns/видео.html
Nate - It would be really useful to add some context to these interviews. Eric referred to probably 20 different things in the interview that would've been great to overlay short clips or stills of. Naturally this makes a better podcast. Naturally, this takes extra time and effort, where one of the nicest things about podcasts from your end is that you get to pretty much just click record, upload, and be done with it at the end of the day. I feel spoiled knowing HTR, but I wonder what someone who wasn't familiar with everything he talked about would feel about the interview, and if they'd really get what he does.
As soon as I heard that, it reminded me of Schrodinger's Box. He's a molecular biologist who just happens to moonlight on YT as a car repair channel. His personality can be a bit abrasive, but he seems pretty damn good at the diagnosis and repair part, and that's really all that I'm interested in. But he's not as witty as Eric. :-)
Maybe the driving bandsaw you secure the log above a flat surface then drive the saw along the board... I suppose seeing a picture of this machine would show if this was intended or not. Or it was just a horrible idea.
That tree thing reminds me of pre forest flattening and roads but post paths, like it sets the height of the walk path and keeps the top of the tree live, if you’ve ever ran after something in the forest, you’ll understand the need
Chainsaw-helicopter alone made this episode legendary. I dream of this as a profession (old tool/machinery restoration, not chainsaw-helicopter-pilot!) Cheers to you both!
Hi Eric and Scot, any updates on the spec house that you can give us? Never forget never give up......... till the good gets better and the better gets best!
For me, the interview with Eric was perfect. I had almost no background on the thought process behind his videos. Honestly, I wasn't sure that he spoke English! lol I am a follower on his You Tube channel and purchased a total of four wrenches to give to my sons, with the instructions that they be passed to their sons when they are old enough to appreciate them.
Its hilarious watching like This old Tony's early videos lol not as bad an your first video tool doctor funny how both the channels set bar for those types of RUclips videos now lol
Thanks again for having me on!
Крутой ты дружище и самое главное очень познавательно весело делаешь.👍👍👍👍👍
Missing your voice on videos

Awesome to see you and happy you like this old tony and ec. What kind of science do you do?
Hi Eric...truly enjoyed your interview. Love your channel, and all your work. Take care, god bless you and your family.

I had the same thought watching this vid! You don’t need the video feed for it to be quality content.
I think 242sp is AvE.
You did Buckaroo interview, so second international...
Great interview! I'm a huge fan of Hand Tool Rescue and it was nice to be able to put a voice to the face. The fact that he's a fellow Canadian was a nice surprise bonus!

They still use diesel combustion pile drivers similar to the soil compacter he described.
So when does the EC2 opening get the 80s sitcom treatment? 😂🤣
Great interview. Get this old tony on.
OMG yes, that would be awesome!
@@aussiebloke609 they. Would have to show his hands only:-0)
I'm a big fan of Hand Tool Rescue and it was a treat to listen to this conversation. Thanks, Nate.
I am absolutely ecstatic that Eric and other folks are restoring our history. It makes me so sad that so many of these great tools ended up in landfills or melted down for scrap.
Eric is the apex. And a cool dude, by the looks of it. His jokes are so danged hilarious :)
Hand tool rescue was the first restoration video i ever watched.
The seed was planted I've restored tools, power tools, out door equipment, vintage tin toys.
Thanks Eric this a great hobby i have found!!
I imagine someone is using the bandsaw car as their daily driver. I know i would.
“Really cuts through traffic”
Love this dude, his HTRs distract and calm me down. It's my meditation before I hit slumber city. Cheers.

Canadian poetry at its best... tasty!
By the way, HotWheels make perfect dollies to handle superconductors !
One of his best jokes was him always slapping his head on the sand-blasting machine. I nearly died when he did sort of a camera double take of the covering having been broken.
1920s crystal radio or regenerative radio both use high impedance headsets
Hand tool rescue's greatest ever video. The Christmas tooth pick #1😂😂😂
I found HTR by accident and binge watched every video, Eric is great, fascinating to watch and weirdly fun and entertaining,
Great interview, love watching both channels when i need a little inspiration for a project or even just to have playing on the tv in the background as im working on something in the garage
"Oh ya, we'll just spray paint over the dirt and we're done here", I love it.
8 kilo ohm headsets were used with crystal radio sets, no amplification.

I need a folding saw for gardening that cuts in both directions. (hint hint)
My channel exists thanks to the inspiration I got from Hand Tool Rescue and Diresta. Thanks guys👍
I met you both in Texas at t he first 'Good of the Land ' Fest!
His hands are clean. That's not Eric that's an imposter!
Does humor belong in tool restoration? Frank wanted to know.
Upgraded camera or light? Looks great.
I was listening to this in the Podcast but I had to come here to see the giant wrench

Brah like add short clips of what he speaks of no this is a interview not a slideshow
I can’t be the only one who is dying to have AvE on the podcast.
Great podcast with the wittiest tool doctor who -not so surprisingly- happens to be a scientist as well! Now I’m hooked forever.

HTR started whole old tool restauration genre on YT...👍
Eric you have to concentrate on the patent office archives
I think Rucker showed a swing saw on one of his museum open day videos.
Or maybe it was Bollinger's video of visiting Rucker's open day.
Rucker is a hack
I finally know his proper name
I'd recommend the Hand Tool Rescue group on Facebook! Lots of people share lots of interesting and unusual tools!
I really like the swing saw.

Love Eric's content. Cool, Funny and Interesting. Doesnt take himself too serious.

Привет из России. Hand tool rescue лучший ресторатор на ютубе
Может не лучший, но один из лучших - это точно!

Last year I was lucky enough to Meet Eric, and Scott at The Good of The Land Fest, and it was really great to meet them both.
Thank you Hand Toll Rescue. I admire your proffesion. And thank you for this review.

Thank you for having him on this was a very interesting interview. I love watching his videos
Hand Tool Rescue fan I have been subed for some time now love his content and humor.
It’s so cool to see two people who love what they do grooving on it with each other. Look at their faces - it’s the best.
Just bought a couple of wrenches from Eric!
My wife often calls me a “tool.” Perhaps I need to rescue myself.
I’ve seen those tree limbers used in California on palm trees.
Delmag h2s explosionramme looks interesting
Pssh yeah BaremetalHW rules -hot wheels guy
Those explosion rams were used in my 1980s youth when pavement was relaid after cable works

The Clouston tree pruner video on youtube
So weird to hear his voice
Great one guys!
Nate, you forgot your wonderful and interesting interview with Tanya Van Der Water from Australia.
Two thumbs(dums) down?! I feel sorry for them
