Ahh thats really takes me back to my maintenance days!!! Without fail just as soon as the temp reaches about 80 degrees out, the whole complex comes down with asthma.
I would have got in the van and left told them it must not have been an emergency. Nice to see that new fieldpiece core tool in action been thinking of getting one.
Been looking at them too, but I already have three 1/4" and four 5/16" Appion core removal tools, along with some other brands of them rattling around.🤣 They
@@GrimyElarma Sometimes the core won't go out properly so the sight glass helps you to see if the core is out without having to disassemble the tool 50 times. Sometimes you spend 10 minutes on a single core and lost count on how many times you retried
I'm a truck driver and I just installed a 3.5 ton Goodman condenser. I get everything to working pretty good just before I need to leave for work. I go to unhook my low side line and the valve stem is leaking. I put a metal cap with a seal on it and went to work. I bought a valve stem installer last year and now after watching your video. I'm going to put it to work.
Dont call for service if you cant be there to allow the technician to fix it. Ill never understand that, how is he supposed to work on it if you dont give him access? People are nuts.
Well..... .all I've got to say your a better man than me.......first sign of attitude and I'm outta there...... plenty of A/C's to repair and not enough time.......they'll just have to wait a few days or get someone else!!
Curtis if I could make a suggestion with those core removal tools, use the secondary refrigerant port on them to release the gas that's trapped in them so you don't damage the O-rings in the plunger before pulling off the core tool
We'd love to think the job is just the tech not the customer service. I'm not on the customer side. I probably would fail. You are a great worker and servicer.
I don’t know why people schedule appointments knowing they have to be gone in that time window. You did about the only proper thing you could in the time you have. Charge and watch should have got you pretty close and by the scale and the fact it was icing you did 😅. At least there wasn’t a hornets nest on the condenser or something mean like that lol
Nice job! But since they were leaving maybe they could leave remotes with you and/or then you could cut power from outside, remove refrigerant and weigh in factory charge after replacing valve cores? Then power back up. Use remotes to turn back on and leave them by door. Since they were gone. This actually happened to me lol 😊 but not a valve core issue
Not sure how the remote could work anyway. Most of them don't work unless you are within line of sight. Unless maybe you can see the unit from outside the window.
I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the way you charged the thing. What a rig, it doesn't look like enough A/C for that trailer to start with. You did a nice job as far as I'm concerned. Why the tenants rushed you is ridiculous to start with. Do they not want the ac fixed? Also the landlord is taking care of it. Plain stupid if you ask me. Thanks for sharing.
1) mini splits spec is for charge to be weighed in 2) any time there is a significant leak on 410a and a top off is done then we don’t know if we have correct blend of refrigerants anymore 3) maybe something more I don’t know about? sometimes something like this is the best you can do on a specific job, still very important to know what is proper and why so you can intelligently decide to do it differently
What is wrong with ppl thinking that your house needs to be a refrigerator in order for them to feel cool...Mobile homes are poorly insulated and they expect a mini split to cool it down like it's the polar ice caps...SMH!
What’s this I am hearing that they are coming out with new refrigerators for home and cars which will cost more for everybody and hvac guy will have to by new equipment to work on it 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
Yeah, I still don't know why they don't put both ports on those condensers so you can monitor and charge them like standard compressor a.c. units. Seems like saving a few dollars on a valve with a port in it causes a lot of heartache for the tech, and lots of extra work for the tech and cost for the customers when you have to dump the charge and then sell them all new refrigerant, remove the old refrigerant, and dispose of the old refrigerant and maybe even install a new dryer. Such a waste of time and money to save the cost of a valve. I don't get it!!!
@@richardbartlett6932 I do maintenance and repairs on standard non-inverter systems for family and friends, and I'm considering replacing my own 25 year old 1999 model Dual Compressor 5 Ton 2 stage XL1800 Heat Pump with the new inverter technology when it dies. Have YOU ever worked on one of these new inverter systems, or any A/C units? What do you think about inverter systems?
The metering devices are in the outdoor unit, so there is no liquid pressure to be had at the service valves. Most mini and multi splits don't have a charging mode, or other means to make the compressor and fans run at 100%, so access to a liquid port wouldn't necessarily help. Short of recovering the remaining charge, evacuating, and weighting in a fresh charge, all you can do is add refrigerant until it seems to be working decently, but no way to get it exact.
@@optionstraderman AS/Trane inverter systems are nice. With the new Link controls you can bluetooth connect to it with a phone or tablet to access the whole system, run test modes, change configurations, and even check refrigerant.
those are the " aint nobody got time for that" customers. The majority of the time, i have customers just leave the house unlocked for me, and tell me to lock up when i go.
Aint nothing wrong with what you just did. Yes proper way is to pull charge and weight in oem amount, but aint nothin wrong with charging on the fly and checking delta t of your indoor temps and suction pressures. The hard part is not knowing exactly how fast the compressor is running with inverter systems!
Tenants are the worst in many cases. Maybe they should live a few days in the heat and humidity then make an appointment with them. That'll likely encourage them to see to it they make time for the needed service. This is the problem we have with landlords who are dealing with tenants that are "entitled" and expect perfection in every aspect of their housing needs.
It didn't look like enough ac for that trailer. I may be wrong , but those trailers get hot and I don't know a lot about those mini splits. Honestly, I don't really like them. I had one in an office where I worked one time and it would freeze your butt off, but it was a small area, and I'm not so sure about longevity and the repairs.
Let 'em sweat till their attitude changes and then add 2 days more and they realize how important you are, probably have cookies ready-made for you when you come next time.
How about when you give an estimate and are told "My cousin Vinnie can do it cheaper"?, Then 2 days later you get a call for service at the same address and cousin Vinnie could not do it. Me I then (if it was not touched) charge double or I go home.
May b overcharged with evaporator coil froze up but wat u going to do if they don't give u time tech service will tell u to recover evacuate and weigh in rental property's are the worst owners don't want to here excuses and renters don't give a damn it's not thier property
That valve removal tool is awesome, I’ve never seen such a thing.
Ahh thats really takes me back to my maintenance days!!! Without fail just as soon as the temp reaches about 80 degrees out, the whole complex comes down with asthma.
When it comes to having working ac, I can hold off on funeral, eating, fishing or whatever just as long I know I'm having a cool place.
