This build is totally off the charts. You and your team hit it out of the park. Absolute eye candy.
Until you found it cost 1 million dollars 💵
Again, totally off the charts. haha
I would have left it a 3 door. Appart from that, superb job ICON.
Yes, agreed
Yes, less is more … 😂
make it a 2-door then.
if i could actually afford this build/car, i'd want the 4th door. it'd just be annoying to not have it. But i can't.... so it makes zero difference what i think
Same here!!!
I'm dumbfounded. A testament to how less is more. Everything about this Suburban is perfect and just looks like it always belonged to the truck. Nothing is out of place. Amazing design elements, the entire truck is gorgeous, the colors and the metals. That front grille alone... Your team and you are awesome and thank you for sharing. Very inspiring.
this is a Perfect Build, You can go anywhere with this Suburban, You can Fit Family and Friends at once.
Been waiting for this one.... For years! ;)
I think I’ve said this a bunch of times on different videos but I mean it this time. This is an absolute work of art! Thank you for sharing it Jonathan. ❤❤❤
The attention for the details...is amazing.. no bolt and nut forgotten 👏👌💪👍
Jonathan, is that your Omega Constellation? Lots of significance with that watch. I also have one!
How does one define a next level build? Well this is no doubt it. Truly seamless integration of design and function. Love this!
As always, another awesome build 👍💪👌👏👏👏...
And please, be "geeky"... Love all the details 😁👍💪👌👏👏👏👏👏...
Ty Jonathan, for the work and creativity
Thanks for the support!
Turbo charged party barge nuff said love it😮 I'm in awe
Nice Ride... I had one back in the 80s... it was quite the Concert Cruiser!!! From New Haven County Ct to Midtown Manhattan!!!
I wish I had some fuckyou money…I ain’t mad that burb Is sick as always.
Watching like 14 years of NRE you tube videos, I spotted that as an NRE engine/turbo setup instantly. Nice!
I've watched many of Icon's build reviews. This one is wayyy up there with the best. Superb work Mr Ward.
Another fantastic creation, the only thing I would add is tinted windows because you know people are gonna be absolutely STARING at this masterpiece. Kudos to the lucky owner.
I would also add the window tint to preserve the interior little better from the sun. I doubt the truck lives outside but still extended periods of direct UV sunlight can make quite the difference.
Some of the coolest parts on your builds are hidden from sight. I love stuff like that. Also, Nelson engine, wow.
Congratulations to you Mr. Ward and your team.
Countless hours of work coupled with countless amounts of love resulted in this beauty.
Thank you for showing us your art.
Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina
And as the wiseguys in SoCali' say..'countless loads of..scrilla'
That grill is a work of art, executed beautifully even if the headlight bezels have a strong resemblance to the headlight bezels of a 1979 Ford Courier truck. It's still a nicely done superb quality 1 piece grill. Unlike the Courier's that I assume is put together from several pieces of flimsy tin shaped , stamped ,maybe some spin formed pieces in there just assuming, but it doesn't compare to the work of art that was machined from one huge solid chunk of 6061T6 aluminum. The fit & finish of the one piece grill can't be compared to the Ford Courier's front end. Different social classes. I just happened to see a slight resemblance in the headlight bezels. 🤔😉😉😁
I think we past a point some years ago where there is only so much you can do to a vehicle to make people go WOW! Now, every builder has a cnc machine available, sponsors out the wahzoo, designers and engineers, etc. these cars are so far removed from what hot rodding was that only the people with big money to waste can have one designed and made. Even then, most people I meet and discuss these sema builds with tell me they aren’t interested. When something is completely done, the fun is over for most of us. To each their own though. Gotta do what makes you happy. Me, I’ll take 67 fastback gt500 clone, tattered and worn looking with decent engine and good brakes and tires and just cruise.
That intake is the best I have ever seen on an LS!!!! Darth Viper vide. So cool.
Absolutely love it.... wish it was mine the design is flawless and the attention to detail is next level!
God I wish I could afford your vehicles. Love love love your work!
Fabulous as always but the front park lights look like they came from Walmart
Amazing. If I ever win the lottery I will be keeping you busy sir. Love your work. And what color is that?
It’s a custom blend we came up with
Gorgeous color.
Such gorgeous work, as always! Just what I needed this morning to motivate me to get out in my workshop. Thank you for showing us the level of work that can be accomplished.
Let me share my mantra - "The ability to see something in the mind's eye, something that doesn't exist, and to MAKE it exist, is the closest to magic and metaphysics that we humans will ever get."
This is outrageous ICON... very cooll of you to highlight the collaboration with Stone's metal work because that fourth door - and it's fabrication story - is a feat! I'm looking at my new favorite vehicle ever made...
Thanks!!
I would take this one over any newer one out there! Hardcore. Easy to work on and fast!
Awesome execution. You keep going with design where many others leave off . The finished product is so much more than a restoration or Resto Mod. Thanks for sharing with us.
Boa noite congrats carros vai amén bom trabalho
If I was absolutely loaded I would get Icon to do my Merc
never seen a nelson in a project. His genius is coming back down to a smooth idle.. one is in for a real surprise if to challenge it. amazing combination.
Totally nuts. What a next level build. Awesome work
How are these cars registered given the modifications?
name drop the dude who screwed up the 4 door conversion. we need to know!
I have a 1970 C-10, it's wild how different you made this look, while also keeping it the same.
DDDAAAMMMNNN!!! Thank you for this video. This is nice nice nice you are an artist innovative all the above this is really nice. Thank you for posting this video. Thank you.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 over here on the big island of Hawaii
Selling cool for an egregious price.
it needs to be towing an old Airstream!
It’s perfect Only you can lower a suburban
And it not look like a station wagon .Touching the roof high could have been a disaster .
This thing is amazing, I’m in love with this build! I would be the coolest dad ever if I picked up the kids from school in this!
Sincere thanks for showing archival, actual and other footage while narrating rather than letting ego take over. Well done. Very professional. Oh i forgot, another big thanks for no lame music.
I got to see this car in person the other week and it is absolutely beautiful and perfect, the attention to detail is soooo ridiculous and it has one of the most beautiful engine bays I’ve ever seen. Plus the wheels are extremely beautiful
Absolutely gorgeous! Well done.
They were sold in Sweden by General Motors Nordiska Ab. The Suburban and the Chevrolet C/K is a series of trucks is are actually quit command over here.
Always a joy to see your creations I've been following you guys forever. Never fail to disappoint. Keep up the good work. Maybe one day I could own a derelict super sleeper
Extraordinary Build Jonathan + Team! 🙏🏼💪🏼🖖🏼
Jonaton you have nailed IT
That Vehicle is "Poetery in Motion" Kudos
As usual, you are a mad man in the best kind of way. So rare to see so much thought go into every single detail like you do!
Is There Any way, Somebody doing ,Nice Nice RV’s could get on on the show. In the Future there could be a Collaboration . For Charities How Awesome . Charities How Awesome. Americans Wanting To Give & Help in Serious and Direct Adversity . This make’s America Great . If You Can See It Your Blessed !
VF on the Left Front Door is quite a subtlety. FUNFACT, and for your amusement, I can inform you that VF is a common abbreviation for "Venstre Foran" meaning "Left Front" in the scandinavian languages (Norwegian and Danish, probably also in Swedish).
amazing build. Nice Job Mr Ward. You guys never disappoint
...the cup indents in the glove box door would a great place to implement magnetized tumblers like the '57-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.
In 2025, It will be the 90th Anniversary of the Chevrolet Suburban. The longest running line of a production vehicle in history? I hope Chevrolet is paying attention...
Why not just go work for Ford, Jeep, Chrysler, Chevrolet etc?
This sort of aluminum CNC stuff could be made affordable - just use lost foam casting then finish machine.
Respect ICONs attention to detail but with unlimited funds and time frame money can buy anything…and that’s all I see in ICON vehicles. Same thing with Singer, beautiful work but it’s really just obscene wealthy buying the best of everything. I respect both but neither inspire me
As a product designer I was blown away by your process. Amazing.
Since 1973 I have wondered why International had 4 doors starting in 1961 and GM took 12 years to install the fourth door.
Thanks for the explanation.
I will likely never own an ICON, maybe I hit the lottery and buy 10 but it’s unlikely. If you would engrave the icon logo into some of those 1 off delrin parts and sign them I’d spend good money on one of those. Just food for thought.
I had a classmate in High School whose dad had 69 or 70 that he inherited when his dad passed away a couple years ago. He got lucky and was in a temp controlled garage but it still needs alot of work. He's going to build it into a 80's inspired hot rod, Mint green paint, redo the woodgrain on the sides, Enkie 92 Wheels, Grey tweed interior.....
absolutely fabulous but isn't funny how people see what they don't like ... Funny, I am guilty, on the BR I said it looks like the wheelbase could be longer and on this gem, I said shorter .. then I said wait, I'm becoming one of "those guys" I loved it
Alternatively, you could've stepped into the mind of Mike Brady, and I think you might've wound up in the same place 😉
1:15 ideal stance/height for these trucks. With a Nelson mill Im sure it haulz balls.
Should be easy to drive with that long wheelbase, Like the understated but classy interior. So many custom interiors are so cheesy....they cheaped out.
Imho missed opportunity not keeping it 2 door. I would have deleted the ”unneccessary” C-panels and made it to have 4 meter long side windows. :D
uuggggg! why why why put the fuel cap right in the middle of the quarter panel!? If there was no other place to put it , then a fuel door would have been less disruptive. The eye goes right to it. Other than that, impeccable work .
Took a nice simple appreciating classic 4x4 and made a overpriced by a half million dollars over engineered beautiful piece of useless art , never to have another fun day in a nice 4x4 road with family, kinda sad. Just jealous probably.
i think the door handles are just a bit on the hefty side. Steering wheel could also be different. If i am thinking Mies van der Rohe i would have made proper seats. chromed steel tubing, exposed, leather like the chairs of the period, leather like the barcelona chairs, for example.
My humble opinion, mirror tint all around, and the mirror tint eyebrow on the windshield. Hate my stuff melting in the sun. Mirror tint reduces in car rkinglot temps, enough, you may not need ac in phoenix.
That grill screams International and personally I don’t dig it. Would have loved to have seen a center console and two bucket chairs rather than a bench seat. Everything else is spot on and mint! Love the work!
Another GREAT build!!!! Sorry to hear RTech did you wrong as well..
You crapped on your idea of era aimed buid with those awful leds. Every artisan who uses brain uses tungsten filament bulbs. Those leds are the most awful idea destroying things in the world
This is an awesome build. However I love the donor truck too much to sacrifice when you use so little of it. Wish it could have been saved as original and you could have found something more dilapidated for the little you use of the original .
SiscoFab in Texas makes a “kit” for that fourth door. Might want to check into him for future projects.
Amazing !! Just Amazing 😁😁
The only issue is it’s now a low rider.
Should’ve left the normal lift on it.
Extremely well done. What an amazing build.
Someone says why are you going to build that? Answer will I got 800,000 to burn😊
i had a 70 suburban mine was dark blue and had a big block oldsmobile hurst 350 with an auto trans mine was a little bit lower than yours .. beautiful ride makes me miss mine allot
Jesus H. I hope the finished truck isn't the K20 shown at the begining of the video.
I am in a similar build (at a much lower price point lol). What was the base color used here?
You guys are nuts I love it
man that road is like ten minutes from my house, wish I would've seen that thing driving in person. seems like you and the team really went all out on this one haha
You webmaster should learn the difference between sending a text and making proper titles
Engine costs way too much. For that money you can’t get many way better and would smoke it easily
Drive it like the Chevrolet commercial at the 1:45 minute mark. Bet it won’t do that now. Even after all that money.
This is astonishing, Great job!
Geez, glad they finally figured out how to paint a truck that cost $400k.
Be better with a manual transmission
Agreed
Sick build, well executed!
That power plant looks like the alien hiding under the hood getting ready to fight predator.
I like the modern drivetrain, but prefer the looks of the original.
Third comment is a question 😂 Is that a Hinderer in your pocket?
Can you pick a different rim style for once other than some flat dinner plate style?
Is Johnathan wearing a Blancpain 50 Fathoms in this video?
Brilliant build. Every detail is pure eye candy.
I ever fall into a mile full of cash, a derelict car with a Tom Nelson engine
Sorry , no. That's sitting too low. It looks like a shed on casters.
Yea-yea, but the bumpers could have done with a lot more love.
I admire your work man. One day I’ll be your client!
здорово сделано, очень приятное повествование от автора, интересно слушать и смотреть)
How much for the grill? Can it be reproduced?
