    Great video. For her next gift you should install an aftermarket auto-dimming HomeLink mirror. I put one in my 2014 Accord EX right away and it's the best, especially if you have a garage. I'm researching a radio upgrade right now, which is what brought me to your channel. The iMid screen and Lane Watch Assist have always been a hindrance to doing a radio upgrade.

      I’ll see if she has any interest in the mirror. I’ve never paid any mind to rear view mirror upgrades before. I think most of the price tag is because of the interface. I still don’t have anything good to say about that interface though.

    If you purchase a new radio for this type of Honda, I recommend Crutchfield. Get the "ready harness" setup and they'll do the main harness and Axxess SWC harness for you.
    Additionally, the Metra kits come with an additional Axxess harness (larger), that is for your TOP DISPLAY, it gives you the screen and maintains the functionality of it (backup and lane watch camera).
    So you'll have 2 AXXESS boxes behind the dash and you'll be 100%.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  2 года назад

      That’s where I got the kit. I had no problem getting everything soldered together. The top display (especially the backup camera) looked horrible. Unless they’ve done some updates, I’ve only heard bad things about the interface.

      Were the guide lines good on it? It’s my wife’s car and that was her main concern. I already hacked up her factory radio (in the next video) and got the original screen working for the backup camera. And I have no clue about that GPS antenna. I was trying to figure that out when I was looking for a navigation screen without the phone connected. It comes with the headunit but it seems like all the navigation stuff goes through the phone when using carplay. The manual isn’t clear about it at all.

    • @lcrap1364

      Your right lines are not exact. I saw the second video after leaving the comment. Being that you have gone through putting the radio in the dash I would leave it. My exl radio is much bigger and I didnt want to dismantle it. One question I have for you is the steering wheel controls. In your first video when it was all set up did all your steering wheel controls work. I can only get volume up and down and forward and back working. Source and the phone buttons dont work. I did connect the grey/ blue wire to the bluetooth as noted in the aswc-1 instructions but no go

    • @lcrap1364

      After I removed the aftermarket interface, I connected the ASWC-1 the way that it is now, and the handsfree phone buttons worked, but the volume and skip buttons didn’t. After fighting with it for a bit, I did a reset on the ASWC-1, and the volume & skip buttons worked fine, but I can’t get the handsfree phone buttons to work. No connections have changed. I left that section out of the video intentionally because I thought that it was just my stereo doing it. So, I really don’t know what to do to get it to work. I haven’t tried connecting it to a computer to program the buttons yet though.

      My honest opinion, I don’t recommend replacing the radio. The interface for the top screen was not good compared to the original. Does anyone know where bluetooth module is installed in a 2017 Honda Accord LX (4 cyl)? I suspect mine is dead. Phone menu shows Bluetooth off... Initializing.. Please wait. It's stuck there. I have spent days looking for bluetooth module location on 2017 model. Found nothing yet.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  3 года назад

      I’m almost positive it’s built into the factory radio of the Accord Sport. I remember seeing a Bluetooth logo when I was hacking it apart.

      @@AyyJayy02 Thanks. That makes perfect sense. I spent a week Googling but came up with nothing. I've also disassembled the center console to access the radio (haven't successfully removed the radio yet). All I found under the factory radio is a box (with marking: P/N 39200-T2A-A220-M1) which I believe is ANC. So I suspect bluetooth is built into the radio on 2017 models.
      Any idea how to factory reset my radio? The "Reset to Factory Default" option on the menu is grayed out. I've tried removing the fuse (in engine compartment). Radio is off for 24 hours but that did not reset anything. Station presets are still intact when I put the fuse back on.

      @@AyyJayy02 - it all started when my car battery died. I couldn't start the engine. Had to buy a new battery. Don't know if this is a coincidence... after replacing car battery, all bluetooth related functions on the menu are grayed out. Factory data reset is also grayed out. @@AyyJayy02 - Let me share a few little secrets
      I get a big stiffy from having a Pioneer stereo in my car. I have tried JVC, Kenwood, Alpine (grunt) but Pioneer rules and I tried everything before giving into the KING. Now I like "multimedia Pioneers" - mp3, DVD and mp4. I like the touch screen and I convert videos from different sources and once my Pioneer is hooked up, I add infinity door speakers/tweeters and a nice 2 12in subs with a 2 amp combo. So basically "I blast whatever I watch" - If it's a converted video with a very high quality sound, I will upset EVERYBODY at the red light - just like tonight, my Maxima is near death. So I took Pop's Altima with a Pioneer/Polk System. I was upsetting the guy next to me. Think he was driving some corny axx Golf or something. Whatever Honda offers, it won't scratch the surface of the systems I like getting installed. (SORRY for the long answer, but I hope it wasn't too boring)

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Год назад

      I was CLOSE to choosing Pioneer for my truck though. Went with the Alpine Halo9 though. I stay pretty loyal to them when it comes to amps and headunits. Everyone’s got their own preference though. I kinda want to start experimenting with different box builds eventually so see what kind of loud I can get.
