Did it show up? I’ve just received the shipping bill and they want £395 to deliver 2 chairs (which I preordered two years ago) to the uk. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam and really can’t afford to pay the delivery
Follow up review: Now that I’ve had the chair for about a month, I am more and more satisfied with it bc I do wiggle around a lot in my chair and so far it has accommodated all of my fidgeting.
Super helpful video. I came here to check that the chair was real before paying the crazy shipping. Back again to figure out how to recline the darn thing.
Thank you for your review it was very helpful, I concur with all of the things you pointed out. I appreciate your time with creating the video. Edit addition: Btw I was able to cross my legs in the chair quite comfortably: lean the back rest back, you have to sit side ways, with you back to one of the armrest and the other down.
Yes when I want to sit cross legged with back support this is what I have been doing. The arm rests come more upright than the back anyway. They’re just very short!
Thank you SO much for this review! I have been looking online to see if anyone had gotten theirs, and if it was worth it to pay the shipping... which, I did not know jumped from $50-$200, so thank you for that. Your review is really going to help me decide if, once they are in stock again, I go through and pay for the shipping. Thanks Mary!
I just got mine after deciding to pay the $220 for my shipping. It came promptly, assembled easily, and it's awesome. Exactly what I hoped for when I ordered it. Wish I could attach a pic here, but I am just that pleased. Makes me all the madder that fear-mongering drove the price of shipping so high.
And I know! So dumb! We all know projects can get backed up on those sites. We're not guaranteed our product when we back it. No sense in freaking out.
If you struggled figuring out how to RECLINE the BeYou chair so you can sit criss-cross apple sauce all the time, and are looking for the answer, it's here! 3:20 Thanks Mary!!!
Aha, FINALLY I find the answer for how to level off the backrest, thank you. More info in this video than any of the adverts or the poster that comes with the thing :P
Thank you for your review. I also ordered mine few years back and was hesitant to pay $200 shipping from California to California ( not that I know they are in Southern California) It should be less shipping then to Denver. Your video helped me with my decision. Thank you. Enjoy the chair!
I felt I cannot really sit cross legged as well because there’s no room for most of my legs on the chair seat. Who sits perched up top. It’s basically a regular char with arms that push away. I’m small 5’ and even I don’t have enough space for my pelvis even sitting with my legs down. I bought this for cross legged position it’s useless for that. I’ll have to keep using that kneeling chair still.
I had the same problem but I figured out if you put the back horizontal and angle it back and then put one arm down, you can sit cross legged sideways on the chair, putting the chair leg under your desk, or sit backwards or sideways and use the chair back as a desk and turning sideways. I was not thrilled with the chair when I first sat on it, but now that I've played with it a bit and found some comfortable cross-legged positions I really like it.
Sitting sideways though means that I cannot work on desk with multiple monitors. A little adjustment to the back if it slide back a bit and alowed us to tilt the chair forward a bit - that would be great@@ggm1852
Thank you! I still haven't received my chair and I was just writing to the company, that I start to doubt their credibility... But seeing this, gives some patience.
Thanks for the review! Shipping price seems to make sense for the weight of the package. After seeing how easy it is to use im looking forward to getting mine!
I just assembled mine and heavily debated the exorbitant shipping fee but ultimately caved as i already had sunk cost of two chairs (i crowd funded at reward level of two chairs). I like many wish they wouldn't have made so many design changes to original prototype. Additional note, the wheel base is so big it does NOT fit through doorways without being removed so cannot move between rooms. I had to bring all pieces into my office to assemble. My back doesn’t go fully horizontal to be able to sit on or use as desk like it is supposed to, so i will be contacting beyou. Still waiting on second chair to arrive and hopefully it doesn’t have same problem. To get the tilt to work i had to the first time press down much harder than i was comfortable with, but after first tilt is now not needing same level of force/effort. Thank you for your review/video! Update: I did figure out the backrest move to horizontal requires the back to be in its fully tilted position, which does feel awkward but explains the massive base I guess for stability of having weight not even close to center of chair.
Thank you so much for this review - definitely feeling the sting of the $250 shipping on top of the $350 cost and really appreciated this reassurance for it doing mostly what it said it would
I agree, thank you so much for doing the review, I came on here to find out how to recline this chair because I had the exact same issue with the back cutting into the seat space and me prefering having my feet up there with me. This is also my only concern, which I hope will not be a problem as long as I can recline. I didn't back the campaign, didn't know it existed. But a friend of mine did and when he got the chair I went on ebay Kleinanzeigen (German craigslist - but without the really creepy vibe) and low and behold - I got a brand new one for 450€, still fully packaged. Beyond happy about my comfy chair so far (I just put it together)
Helpful and fair review! I also have it, as a crowdfund backer. I would say it was worth the money, even adding the... $150? of shipping onto the $300 crowdfunding price. However, I don't know if I would pay the current $945 price tag for it. I also experience the seating space front to back as pretty limited, and one of the arm wings has started to fail in less than 6 months of having it (ie: It is not staying locked in place). But my biggest complaint about it is its inability to tilt backwards as a whole. Yes, the backrest will tilt backwards, but the seat itself will not, and I've realized as I've been sitting in it, that's something that I enjoyed very much from my other office chairs. Still, the functionality of the chair in other ways is pretty cool, especially being able to stretch my legs out on one side while leaning back on the other wing is awesome, and being able to change positions when in the office for extended Zoom meetings is great, from the knees to sitting on the backrest with my feet on the seat, I would say being able to do all that outweighs the downsides of the chair. However, I would hope the company would listen to these critiques, and make the chair better in its future iterations.
Thank you for this, it was a long wait from supporting it on KIckstarter to getting it. Mine arrived just before Christmas 2023. Shipping, thanks to Canadian rates and exchange, cost me nearly $500 to Ottawa. Also, I know the base has to be large and strong due to the positions the chair permits, just realize it is NOT going to go through most door openings, certainly in home office configurations. I had an adjustable height desk, need to find another smaller version. Time will tell if it was money well spent. I think the quality is good, however.
Ditto - happy to transfer my Indiegogo $349 pledge to someone who's interested in the chair. Having really long legs, the shallow seat depth makes it a no-go for me.
No no! Your depth changes with the recline of the back. It is NOT shallow unless you set it to the absolute most upright--which doesn't make sense, comfort-wise, though some may wish to have that back support. Just got mine and noticed that right away. The fix was a simple adjustment.
Same with the long legs. I got mine - since I sit cross legged all the time. Just put it together today. We'll see how it accommodates the long legs. The base is so much more firm than my previous chair and somehow that makes a difference with the comfort (in a positive way)
Just got my chair and agreed with your point until i saw you can actually adjust the back part, using the lever that raises/lowers the chair just push it down and then adjust the back
Thanks a lot for your review. I'm realy happy to have a review of somebody who got it ...after 2.5 years!!!! Somehow I was douptfull if beyou is a scam or not and they only want to make extra money with their shippment amount. Thanks
Thanks for doing this vid! I’ve been fiddling around for an hour trying to figure out how to get the thing to recline! Push DOWN on the handle. Thanks for that! lol
Just put mine together, so disappointed. You're right, the seat is not deep at all. The reason I bought it was to be able to sit cross legged but the seat isn't deep enough to be able to do that with huge back.
The backrest DOES recline. It's on the instructions, which are printed on a full-color, HUGE poster. All you have to do is tilt the chair back--problem solved. I love this chair. Just got mine today.
Yes! @@Xelia0 When I first sat, I looked at the instructions, saw how to recline the back until I felt comfy, and problem solved. I bought this chair to sit cross-legged, so I would've been burned if the chair was too shallow for even that! Another way to help with the "fit" is to move the back up or down slightly more. If you want to sit bolt upright whilst cross-legged, and have your back fully supported, your knees will extend off the front, so I guess they could've allowed the back rest to tilt forward slightly more at the top to allow more space for your hips at the bottom. BUt, I'm cross-legged right now with full back support, and it suits me fine.
Got mine. This is a great and accurate review. TBH the big box is VERRRRY heavy. I could barely lift it on my own, and I'm strong. Not that that excuses the shipping cost, but it's the heaviest box I've ever ever had shipped to me. Just a head's up.
i bought this thing thinking it would be more accommodating for sitting cross legged in chairs. its really ironic to see that it somehow makes it less easy to sit cross legged, while providing all sorts of other seating positions that are useless. i dont see any reason i should pay the ransom of $200 bucks to get my $350 chair. its the sunk cost fallacy. fool me once
