As a Lvl X Mastery Ares i wanna add some to this guide:
1. Your chains do damage over time, and afaik don't stack on top of each other. So you wanna let the first chain run for a second or two, then hit the second and let it run, and hit the third chain after that. No matter if you choose various targets or hit 1 Loki with all chains, this will maximise the damage and bring his chains to full potential.
2. Now that we have some time in which our chains do damage, we can do even more damage to our targets! And auto attacking with Ares is - neglecting what you said - a thing! Count in 3 auto attacks between and after the chains, and you would have killed that Bellona that got away from you at the early-mid of this game. (Not that it mattered anyway, that Bellona got WRECKED by you! :) )
3. That leaves us with this combo:
2-1-AA-1-AA-1-AA-3

I build nearly full aura on Ares normally, haha. Pen boots - breastplate - heartward - void stone - mystical - witchblade is my standard build atm. Works fantastic.

Here's the thing about ares that really makes it hard for him to compete with other guardians. Ares scaling on his abilities are shit it seems on purpose. Which means he can do a lot of damage over time but against a guardian with high burst like Ymir. It's hard to damage in a team fight. I play ares and Ymir the thing is though. I've liked Ymir over ares because of the early game freeze and the wall and the slow while ares has great cripple early hand with his chains but it doesn't really help when facing a Ymir who counters you whenever you get close. That's why when facing ares I use winged blade. As soon as he chains me, I eat his slow and charge him so hard that my team butchers him. Ares is great but against guardians who just counter him. It's very hard to play.

The build revolves around getting into a state of low health, and then thriving once you're there.
Gotta use 4 of the Crit Chance items, because once youre at least level 10, having 4 crit items and his passive will give you 100% Crit Chance. Then if you choose to run say Ancile and Bulwark, you'll be able to dish out some pretty nasty damage.

this is basically how I play Ares normally. Shoes of focus> Sov. > Heartward > Mystic Mail > From there, any combo of void stone/ pestilence/ or pythagorem's Piece/ witch blade. Just depends who I need to counter build against.
Hey Raynday! I was sitting in the shower this morning and I thought up a new dare... how about Permanent Passive Agni. It is based around attack speed and cooldown to get the extra damage from the passive. This would be made up of Hastened Fatalis, Shoes of focus, telechines/demonic, chronos pendant, spear of desolation, and lastly rod of tahuti. I have used this and done pretty decent in many of my games. I think this would be a cool thing for a video! Hope you chose to use it, as always, never give up and never stop gaming!

This was literally something I was thinking of doing. I saw his passive and kind of thought "Aren't most Aura items defensive items? How the heck are they going to kill me?" So, great video as always.
The aura defense items are all shit in terms of protections now

This is why ares is my favorite bc you can build defensive items with auras and get a lot of damage
i had a an idea with ratatoskr, only all CC ratatoskr. you have to buy the CC acorn and then any/all other CC items in game like frost hammer, mantle of discord, etc. and see how annoyed they get when a super fast mobile god is locking them down with CC
notice teams with all squishies nearly always lose to a team with warrior/guardian? Will you make a vid on basic team comps? I'm frustrated with 2 hunters, an attack speed "warrior", an assassin and glass cannon mage.
Freya reduce cooldown? Is it possible to semi trap or juggle between her 2 and 3 skills using it?
If you land multiple chains on someone, the chains don't stack. You're still only doing damage at the rate of one chain, which only lasts the normal duration from when you most recently shackled them. You're wasting damage by spamming your shackles out on one target.
The optimal way to shackle one enemy is to hit them, wait until the very end of the two second window, then shackle them again. This lets you get the highest number of damage ticks on one guy. You can usually fit two auto attacks into that two second window.

+Brandon Jenkins In the current meta Guardians tend to go for more selfish items like Breast plate of Valor, Hide of the Urchin, Bulwark of Hope. Full Aura is still pretty decent on Ares but it's really not optimal. This build also makes Ares relatively squishy, running the risk of being blown up while channeling your ult.
that's how I'd build ares
It makes sense if you don't intend on being tanky. The new standard tank build involves mostly no aura items (sovereignty might be coming back).

You should shoot your chains slower, the damage doesn't stack, the chain only gets refreshed, and the slow/movement speed buff is only when u hit different people. (Not 100% sure, but I think it's like this)

Raynday what is the best build for Loki in your opinion?
Warrior tabi, jotunns wrath, transcendence, deathbringer, malice, Titans bane or other split push items. I'd recommend against playing Loki at all in conquest unless you're one of those fuckers who can not jungle at all the whole match and go 30-0 with Loki.

im main ares and i have to say you played the full aura wrong' you rly need full aura which means that even the boots need to have a aura but because no boots do that yiu need to build item with movement speed and aura but still like the skin and the gameplay love your vids and keep like that

Hey, Rayday (and everbody wondering). The dot of Ares' chains does not stack!
Here is how it works:
He can throw three chains. Each dealing 105+15% damage at max rank on impact. So that's 315+45%.
Now. since he can w8 up to two seconds between cast. You can realistcally achieve a total chain duration of 7 Seconds. Since he does the samge 105+15% damage after every 1 second thats 7xdamage = an additional 735+105% damage.
So Total max single target damage should be 1050+150%. (Anybody different explenation? please correct me ;)

Yes. I only had bots to test it tho. So there is a slim chance of failure.

I played Ares quite a bit today and I think my assumption was confirmed. I mean the shackles definitely deal tons of damage anyway.

Yes. But I think I didn't explain it very well the first time, so I am going to try to make it crystal clear now ;)
The Chains deal 105+15% on impact.
The Chains deal 105+15% per second.
So if you land all three chains on the same target and wait almost the maximum duration between casts you could get a 7 second duration in total.
So that would be 3x impact damage + 7 times dot damage = 10x(105+15%) damage.
Wich is: 1050+150% damage.
(Single target one chain is 1 times impact damage + 4 times dot damge which is half of total possible damage (525+70%)

Can this work in Conquest?
Tank loki. You won't deal most damage, but that isn't the point of a dare me to be in the spot light with every god :p You will still disrupt enemy teammates, waste their ults, etc.

Guess you've never actually built a tank loki. Sorry, but it is a lot different than that. You burn enemy ults and also disrupt them by being hard to kill. They chase you thinking it's an easy kill and end up dead/out of skills. Not boring either. For Arena where fun builds are common it works just fine. Tanked an anubis ult fully and also an Ao ult just fine.
Few games I went 9+ kills and 0 deaths so :) Worst build ever? Nope.

Also you should still do how to play Osiris because no one plays him anymore and he's so unloved. One the greatest boxers in the game even able to box the shit outta Ravana. Is so unplayed because of how hard he is. His sickle is like he Bo's wave blast. Every 2s he can throw it and slow then put more slow on you with his two then even get a practical free sprint.

Rayn! No shoes of the magi? I understand you want a bit of cooldown in there but shoes of the magi could have really helped with your early game damage(not that your early game damage wasn't crazy already :P). Ares being your favorite Guardian makes a lot of sense now that you've mentioned it.
Ps: Nox actually gets pulled out of a god IF you ult her before she dashes into someone.

I main ares but I don't go damage really I mainly focus on slowing enemies and dragging them in with my ult my friends play Artemis and kukulkan so on joust we win quite a lot as we can just use all three ults and win the game
Also btw I don't know if people do this but when taking a tower or Phoenix i buff the minions with number 2 dunno if other do it

+Brian Tolman Jing Wei passive isn't affected by moment speed. It was sad when i found out :(
sorry Raynday, but that shackle damage DOES NOT stack. It stacks the speed buff Ares receives and the slow he dishes out, but only if he hits a unique target. "Stacking" the chains on one target just keeps them crippled and damaged for a longer duration.
Ares deals lots of dmg, but hes not a good support still, thats why in the spl and such we see sobek/athena etc rather then ares since he is the weakest support, but he cant work with specific comps, allthough for himself to support he has little protections
That and it's a lot more common to accidentally take kills as ares because the chains do tick damage
daniel riccobono Indeed, and in most cases this will make you and your adc get on the same level (maybe ur 1 behind) But rather than ur 2 levels behind right. So he dosent get feed and thus losing Duo lane in the late game, allthough ares is a good god in genereal just not as support
+Milk Me Daddy I feel like he'd be really good to have on the team late game if there was another support on your team (geb Athena) because of all his damage and aura, but he can't play any other role. His 2 (max cdr makes it literally constant)+ aura items can shift an advantage to your team so far it would be as if your team had 2 fire giant buffs; I'm pretty sure his 2 plus heartward and sovereignty gives 100 aura protections to his team. Maybe he can be a solo?
daniel riccobono I have seen him in the solo before, and in the adc. He can be really good in the solo, he can carry infact. Same in the adc role, but late game its important they win the game before every one is 20, or else he is class canon with defence, but if he is not frontline (Wich he often is, after geb athena etc) So yeah it can work, but warriors work better, but in comps ares can be really good
