hi James welcome to the channel!!! good question, it's mainly to make sure of a tite fit to the ceiling so if you are square stopping the joint it's much easier, you could do it either way to be honest just make sure u have a measurement make to set you first sheet to. also check out taper/square edges on gib as it will get ya if ya dont catch it..good luck😁

cool remember 5mm tolerance on if unsure till ya get the hang of it, oh an get a zip gib router!!!! my new favorite tool!!
