It's actually incredible how quick you can find people to collaborate just by posting on a discord. I took your advice and put one out saying I'd be willing to work on projects before I went to sleep last night and woke up with 5 different people wanting me to hop on their game. Varying levels of quality and how far along the projects were, but some very impressive projects so far that will be fun to work on. The art of games is always when I stopped developing them and I didn't know there were so many artists looking for developers.
I agree. Another aspect that a team contributes is motivation. Working alone is often discouraging and having people to discuss ideas and focus on specific areas can generate great results. excellent video
Awesome work!! I definitely feel you on the solo dev struggle. Other support is huge even if its a community of other people you can prod and ask for advice, instead of feeling isolated. As for asking people to work on the same project as you, I definitely have a fear of people not being able to commit as much time and energy or the flip side of me letting down people who pour their soul into their work. It's definitely easier to let yourself down rather than other people but accountability can be massively motivating and keep you on track. Finding the right people can be hard but I definitely agree with you that its completely worth it.
I prefer working alone because it's really hard to find someone who will share a vision, commit to working a lot and compliment your skillset. Solutions I found so far are asking my musician friends for music (they help me in e xchange of drinks) and or finding some funding to hire someone.
It definitely can be tough. Communication in king though, and it won't always work out, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it. You just have to continue to ask yourself if it's worth your time and effort.
Very inspiring. Can you share more detail on the actual process of finding people to collaborate with? Respecting the anonymity of those involved, of course.
I would be happy to share that, I'm curious if a video on the subject would be interesting? But Brackeys has a great discord, as well as BlackThornProd. They both have great collaboration sections. Like I mentioned in the video, know what your good at, and go with confidence!
Ooof the art subject really hit home. I can make music I can program I can build levels etc but its just blobs of nothingness representing the game and when it comes time to make the art I go "well i guess ill burn this to the ground and forget it exists"
Tip: Talk to others who have the same passion as you Me, an extreme introvert who is aware of how unreliable he is: Makes sense That aside, I am aware that coding and communication are my worst aspects in GD and really have no choice but to do solo. So this is great info, but I don't know how to work with it.
This is fantastic feedback, and a great point. I think communication is key here. Some people you just wont be able to work with because you can't share the same vision. But finding that out is a great first step, because it helps you know what YOUR vision really is. Keep talking to different people, and keep growing. If you wanna find others to help you, there's always someone out there. Just my thoughts, but you got this!
Hi I am new to game development. I recently made my first game and released it for iOS and Android. But now I have no idea how to market it. Do you got any suggestions?
Yes! Go to the howtomarketagame.com/ website! There is SOOOO much good stuff there, as well as people who really know how to market a game well! Let me know if you need anything else!
I can't allow others to collaborate with me on my projects too, but because my projects are my babies and I can't let anyone else mess with them. :) For new game devs will be better to collaborate with more experienced devs, but usually they are busy with work or their own projects.
@@SoulEngineDev Started learning making games with flash around 2010, but at the time they decided to cancel it so I dropped it and moved to 3D learning. In 2016 tried Unity, and after a year learning and some small projects I realized that will need a deeper knowledge about art to do what I want to do in my games. But learning still continue and will never end, so I said to myself "I know enough already" and this year started with one of my small projects and maybe it will take about 1 year to finish it. :)

Great work taking the first step! I'm so curious to see how that turns out for you, best of luck to you!

100% true, and such a great point.

Thank you so much!

This is so good and true. Communication is key in the regard. Jams are a great way to flex this muscle.

Struggling with pathfinding atm, looking into external help.
Have you tried asking on Discord? There's so many different area's to ask on there as well as Reddit!
@@SoulEngineDev I haven’t, I’ll need to search around in different game dev discords
Can you share that discord?
The Discord with a collaboration community? Brackeys has a good one, as well as BlackThornProd!

I TOTALLY feel this. Have you been deving for a long time?

That's awesome honestly. If you have the self-disciple to continue to learn and grow, sky's the limit!
