anyone who worked enough in any major construction projects knew that samples of every batch of steel bars delivered to the project should be tested first before they are allowed to be installed if they conform to the specifications. In the Philippines ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards are followed . A simple tensile test will determine if a rebar is substandard. Of course there are other tests required. A grade 60 rebar is one with min. yield strength of 60,000#/sq in . So , every sample of rebar to be tested has already a min load to withstand before it fails. If it did not reach that min load , that means it failed and it’s substandard. Going back to the claim that only the outer layer is hard and the inside is softer, as long as it passed the tests, I’m good with that.

Maraming substandard na construction materials na ibenibenta sa atin example sa kahoy ang 2”x 2” na kahoy kulang na ng 1/4”.itoy nakikita papaano yong mga di nakikita gaya ng nga ng mga bakal .Sa construction naman lalo na sa road and bridges construction ang mga itoy karamihan halos wala pang isang taon butas butas na at pagdating ng tagulan lubak lubak na sana ito ang dapat pagtounan ng pansin. Suggestions lang po sa DTI sana hindi lang sa quality ng bakal ang pagtounan natin importante ang mixture at quality ng cemento. Thank you with respect.

The clients and authorized government departments supposedly monitor and witness the testings It goes to say that ISO Certifications and adherence to the guiding rules in Quality Management System for construction, manufacturing as well as HSE is important.

Bureau of Philippine Standards must have a annual records of all manufactured steel materials from now on in order to protect the life property of the Public, it is your duty to impose upon the manufacterer the standard quality of materials for Public use...

If ever it happens, substandard grade 40 is actually used,maybe and maybe the structural engineer increases the quantity of the steel bars to suffice the quality requirements of the proposed building

Dapat may nangangasiwa ditong agensya sa manufacturer ng mga steel..dapat dadaan muna sa quality standard ng gobyerno bago gamitin...eto ang resulta ng pagkawala ng iligan steel...pati na rin sa cement manufacturer..masyado ng commercialize ang gamit sa construction..

Actually we have a product standard to follow , international standard practice cover with mill certifate provide by steel mill industries . The quality control officer should also inspect the steel if this right . If doubt you can give specimen to MRIDC for laboratory test quencing with water will not increase the carbon content of the material , chemical analysis will determine the grade of steel how much carbon ,manganese ,silicon iron content , it is by department of trade and industry will monitor the hardware supply store .

Isa lang ang nararapat gawin ng mga Government Regulators, partuclarly and DTI at Bureau of Standards, bawal mag manufacture, mag import at magbenta ng lahat ng producto na substandard.
Kailangan gawing krimen at may parusa na tama upang matakot o mabahala para matigil ang ganitong kalakaran.
