  • Washing a Twin size comforter.
    This cycle was a total fail, another reminder that HE washing machines are NOT going to replace agitator machines or front loaders anytime soon. No matter how good they are at moderate loads of clothes, load them full and they fall flat.
    Cycle: Bulky'Sheets
    Wash Temp: Cold
    Water Level: Deep Water Rinse
    Rinse Option: Deep Water Rinse

    I kind of like the background dryer noise. I find it very relaxing....I was laughing at the comforter. It's just sitting there 🤣🤣🤣

    • @Smurdle450
      @Smurdle450  3 года назад +2

      If the dryer weren't drying a bunch of snow pants, I probably would have liked the noise better... LOL
      And yeah, this was absolutely and totally a flop in terms of washing performance.

  • @petermaz701
    @petermaz701 3 года назад +4

    You are absolutely right with your analogy about the wash plate washers they just can’t handle a bulky item. It tried but failed. Agree with you 100% about the speed queen and about getting a front loader because these giant tubs on these wash plate washers are useless with a large load so I don’t understand the point of them just so people can throw a whole mound of clothes in and get pitiful performance.

    • @Smurdle450
      @Smurdle450  3 года назад +2

      It'll probably be a front loader replacing this if we can make it work.
      And yep, it certainly tried, but it just couldn't do it. The only impeller machine I've seen that can achieve semi-decent results would be the F&P based cabrios.
      I've said it once and I'll say it again, the large capacity ratings on these machines are simply gimmicks. It has the tub volume, but it can't actually clean a full tub worth of clothes.

    • @patcola7335
      @patcola7335 3 года назад +2

      @@Smurdle450 I said the same thing. Capacity claims are not the best guide. Like 3.5 cu.ft capacity may seem small today but it is more efficient because I can use the whole volume of the tub loaded up with clothes and I will get good results.
      Maybe that's why manufacturers knew early on to go with full post agitator washers for top loaders.There were a couple of exceptions but those companies are no longer around.

    Some top loaders are capable of washing summer blankets but I’ve honestly not experienced a top loader including a traditional agitator model capable of properly washing a winter comforter. My experience with agitator top loaders and winter comforters is that though even though they perform better that this, they don’t roll over and the agitator squashes the stuffing breaking it down permanently. Prior to having front loaders at home I always went to the laundromat for comforters.

    • @Smurdle450
      @Smurdle450  3 года назад +3

      Fair enough. I have never tried a properly heavy comforter, in either the Speed Queen or this.
      This is not what I would consider a heavy comforter, the Speed Queen rolled this very comforter over multiple times on its first wash before it came up here.
      That said, as you said, a front loader is still the way to go.

    Good call about the Drain and Spin at the end to get a high speed spin. I can just imagine the quantity of water that was left by the slower spin on the Bulky Cycle. And, of course, the comforter is very thick, so not easy to extract the water.

    • @videolover2014
      @videolover2014 3 года назад

      Heck, Low Spin Speed on Bulky Items/Sheets?
      Unfair Spin. 👎🏻
      We need the High Spin Speed on the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle to spin all of that Water out & having to run it on Drain & Spin at the end every time to get a High Spin is sometimes a pain, depending on what goes on.

    From what I saw in the description why can't you get a front loader or something like that?
    As I'm sure they'll do better than a top loader so you dont have to rewash it twice to get the soap stains out if that makes sense??

    • @Smurdle450

      A front loader, or a more competent top loader, will replace this machine when it goes.

    I am genuinely curious to see what a re run would look like on this, Maybe a Normal Deep water, or something like that. I think it would do better if it was the 4855 with the agipeller to prevent the comforter from falling into the center.

    Was this fail ‘cause of the Comforters in there, when it does a Low Spin on the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle, or both?
    If it was especially ‘cause of the Low Spin on the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle, that is definitely an unfair Spin, as the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle needs a High Spin to spin all of that Water out & due to what happened before on Samsung & LG with them exploding during High Final Spin on the Bulky Items Cycle, on the other Washer Brands without the Spin Speed Option, they limited the Spin Speed to Low on that Cycle to prevent the same problem as on Samsung & LG.
    But yeah that the Low Final Spin on the Bulky Items Cycle *is* unfair ‘cause then it doesn’t spin enough of the Water out especially & on these Washers, in order to get the High Final Spin on the Bulky Items Cycle, they have to be run on the Drain & Spin Cycle, which is sometimes a pain.
    Heck, if my Mother can let me run her WTW5000DW1 Whirlpool Washer with the Lid open, I can maybe do a Video of it running on the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle with the Drain & Spin Cycle at the end to get the High Final Spin.
    Mainly though, when Kirk Rivas has done some Videos of the WTW5000DW Whirlpool Washer recently, he hasn’t even run it with Extra Rinse turned on (Except for the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle…) & especially with the Normal & Quick Wash Cycles, because he has Extra Rinse turned off without Fabric Softener selected, it would only do a Spray Rinse & although I’m wondering by the Wash Pattern if the one he did recently was the WTW5000DW0, I’m wanting to do a Video of my Mother’s WTW5000DW1 running on the Normal Cycle with Extra Rinse turned on without Fabric Softener selected to see if 1 of the Rinses would preform a Spray Rinse, while the other preforming a Full Rinse, as it’s especially pretty interesting to see both Full & Spray Rinses, whenever the Washers are being run on the Normal Cycle with Extra Rinse turned on, although some of them would go by the Water Level, some others would go by the Fabric Softener Option, & some others would go by the Normal Cycle with Soil Level built in to the Cycle to preform a Spray Rinse, while with Extra Rinse turned on to preform a Full Rinse alongside.
    Also, despite your angle being like this, the Statuses that you put in your Video (Like this Video for Example…) via Captioning does help with especially when it’s hard to see the Water filling the Washer up or even spray rinsing due to the angle that your Camcorder is positioned in currently. 👍🏻
    When I’m ready, I’ll be sure to watch the whole Videos with Sound & all that you make with your Washer there, Whirlpool Model WTW4850HW1.
    Also, when my Mother is ready to replace her WTW5000DW1, once/if she has the Money, as I’m gonna help her out, I’m gonna have her replacement Washer be the Whirlpool Model WTW6120HC, as with the Glass Lid to see all the Action through it, plus with the Spin Speed Option to help with the Cycles, like Bulky Items, Drain & Spin to balance the Delicate Load, whenever it unbalances & needs to be run on Drain & Spin with Low Spin Speed to what can’t take a High Spin, etc..
    As Kirk Rivas has done some Videos of the WTW6120HW recently as well, my Mother would have the darker Color of it, as by the end of the Model Number, “HW” would be the White one, while “HC” would be the Gray one.

      @videolover2014 3 года назад +1

      @@tracyfarmer6259 The Whirlpool WTW4816FW that you have, I’m wishing to see some more of it by Kirk Rivas soon, as a few years ago, he only did 3 Videos of it & he never did any Cycles on it with Extra Rinse turned on, plus 2 of his 3 Videos cut out in the middle to what’s going on & they happen to be on where the Washer is running on 2 Cycles that do the High Final Spin, which is unfair to me, as I happen to like High Spins & rather seeing the High Spin in Full Cycle Videos without any cutouts & the other Full Cycle Video without the cutouts is where he runs it on the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle with the Unfair Low Final Spin due to what happened before on the Samsung & LG Top Loaders that caused all the other Top Loaders without the Spin Speed Option to automatically be limited to Low Spin Speed to prevent the same problem from happening on them, which is again unfair, as the Bulky Items Cycle needs a High Spin Speed to spin all of the Water out especially.
      What’s pretty interesting is that a Great Clips Place I go to to get my Haircut, plus to sometimes get the Shampoos & Conditioners as well, when I saw a Washer in the back of the Place, especially when looking at it through a Mirror (As they leave the Back Door to their Laundry Room open sometimes…), especially via the Control Panel, I asked them out of curiosity to what Washer it is that they have, as I knew it was a Whirlpool Brand & when they especially looked & told me that it had a Drum with the Agitator from the Direct Drives, despite of how wide the Lid is & how there’s all the 5 Knobs filling the whole Control Panel, they happen to have the Whirlpool WTW4816FW as well.
      Now, of course that it’s a Staff-Only Laundry Room, which is an oof there, as it would’ve been nice for me to do some Videos of their WTW4816FW Whirlpool Washer, but I’d rather not break the Rules & not even get kicked out of the Place especially.
      So, IDK when Kirk Rivas is gonna do some more Videos of his WTW4816FW Whirlpool Washer, but until then, I’d like to ask that if you were to, could you try to do some Full Cycle Videos of your WTW4816FW Whirlpool Washer running with the Lid open & especially to do some Extra Rinses on it & hopefully without the cutouts on when you do some Cycles on it that do the High Final Spin, plus if you run it on the Bulky Items/Sheets Cycle in your Video(s), to do the Drain & Spin Cycle after to have it do the High Spin Speed to spin all of the Water out on the Bulky stuff before ending your Videos at the complete end of the Cycle (If you still have it, that is…)?
