  • I thought I would do a how to video on changing both belts on a dyson dc03, 04, 07, 14 and 33 clutch! It's not that hard, and will save a ruddy fortune on a new clutch!

    Many thanks for this! I thought I'd finished my clutch restoration job but then there was a little white bit of plastic sitting on the bench and I had to find this video to see where it was supposed to go, heheheheh!

    Hi Sam, Thank You So Much!! I watched one of your Dc07 refurbishment videos and I Refurbished My Dc07 And Got A New Carry Handle, Filters, Motor, And of corse Belts And Brush Roll To Make It Work Like New, It did get hard when I had to press down and put the C clip back on but I did it in the end and my Dyson Dc07 Works Like New! Thank you again!

    Thanks again, I followed your instructions earlier and did such a good job I bought a cheap Dyson 04 clutched version on bootsale last sunday ..Good motor but could see the belts were gone. Worse than gone with the small belt on its last legs and the white cog black and worn out . I ve just bought from Ebay from IE Electonics which is Manchester Vacs who STILL sell the two belts plus white cog and spare circlip for just £6.25 p.They really are a good company where you can keep your brilliant old Dyson classics going like Triggers Broom .Sebo might be a little better made but they lose suction with the bags blocking up and new bags are constantly needed

    For those having fun trying to get the circlip off, use two small flat blade screwdrivers back to back and rotate them vertically against each other to create a scissor move to open the circlip. Be prepared for it to all drop out. The reverse is easy with a small pair of pilers and just push it over the top and down..

      Its harder tho so I ended up grinding down a circlip tool which was too fat at the ends. That £10 grinding wheel comes in handy sometimes. Must admit I did not try the "scissor " move tho with two small screwdrivers

    Hi, Beko. What size is that circlip plier?

      Hi! Pass... I didn't buy it new! I'd guess 3mm when closed though, from RS Components iirc

    I hate taking that clutch cover off. That's the last part I alway put on too after testing it .

    Its not that bad, get a few done and you soon get the hang of it! What would you normally do then, buy a new clutch?

      I gathered that with a bit of practice,it'd be easier,I dont dwell in Dysons or Uprights so haven't worked on one of these properly.

    Do you have any spares of the ball bearings? There were only two out of three in my clutch when I pulled it apart! Or I could almost certainly buy some spares on eBay, if only I knew what size they were - I don't have a micrometer :(

    I need to replace my mom’s duct assembly. The dc07 fell and hit the floor. Pieces of the assembly keep breaking off. The cyclone is no longer snapping onto the duct assembly. Would you be able to do a video to help?

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  3 года назад

      Depending on which bit broke you need either a used chassis and build the machine back onto it or a used cyclone assembly

    Hi Sam, I rebuilt a clutch for a dc07 using this video with a new cog & two belts. It all works great! Only thing is I'm getting a ratchet sound when wheeling the machine when it's switched off. Will this affect the machines performance at all?

    • @DysonRepairs
      @DysonRepairs 2 года назад

      I’m afraid you may not have put the clutch back together properly is it just a ratchet sound when you press the head down because that is the brush roll getting stuck

    Hi Sam I have just done this job on a dc03 it works if you recline the cleaner first and start vacuuming, but if you start in the upright position and then recline it starts making a ratcheting sound for about a second and then engages but sometimes it will just keep making the noise. Do you have any ideas why it is doing this? If so it will be much appreciated

    • @DysonRepairs
      @DysonRepairs 2 года назад

      The brush roll may be getting jammed this happens when the belt is stuck, The Clutch Hasn’t been put together properly or the brush is jammed somewhere

    I use a syringe to inject machine oil into the cluch bearings when I assemble them. takes away the rumble untill the next service!

    The parts look lovely when polished! Do you have a polish recommendation? Do you use T-cut or something similar on any scuffs? Maybe there's a video in that :)

      Tbh, with dysons of this age, I just use cif! The plastics are built to be strong on this age, so take it well. I've never machined a dyson ever, and they always look fine after a run over with cif! (don't try it on anything modern though!)
