Thank you for an excellent tutorial. It’s a textbook example of a clear, understandable and easy to follow process being explained. I followed you step by step and am now awaiting a new motor and clutch. I’d never have been able to do it without this excellent video.
New motor and clutch arrived today. I watched your video again, focussing on how to put it all back together. Absolutely perfect and I now have a born-again Dyson 07. Thanks again
Thankyou so much for this video. It just helped me replace the clutch in my wifes Dyson Animal. First replacement since we bought it about 30 years ago.... amazing!
Great video. I decided to buy a DC14 with a blown motor and have ordered a new motor to fit to it. This video will be handy to remind myself on how to do it once I have the motor. I have never changed a motor before but I feel confident enough to do it now
This is a great simple explanation of what to do. I took my DC14 apart yesterday evening and ordered the new parts - good tip with the clutch change out too, I've gone for that. Cheers!
I now have a working Dyson DC14! The grease on the outside of the the rubber motor seal, and the foot on the base to make enough space under the belt to the get the beater in are both very good tips. I couldn't get the other belt over the motor drive, my fingers are just not strong enough, so I used a 90 degree screw driver to do the job and make sure I didn't damage the belt in the process. Thanks again Parwaz.
Would glueing the motor suction duct( the one that connects the motor to the chassis) without the seal be fine? The seal has perished and I can't seem to find any good ones.
Thank you, I now know how to replace the motor on my DC07 animal. I think it is the brushes that have worn out as it's 21yrs old now. Good tip about getting a new clutch as it is a bit fiddly to replace the drive belts, and not that much more £'s for the time and effort saved.
I have a DC07, but it has one of the lugs at the back where the wand sits broken. It's only one though. Is it ok to use it should I replace the chassis?
I've find that the qualtex clutch belts are too tight when using the belt lifter tool resulting in making a mark on it. Would heating the belts up make it easy to warm up?
I can't seem to reconnect the U shaped tube at the bottom right after taking care of a clog. Any tips? It keeps coming undone when I move it from the upright position.
Assuming your dyson is purple for reference, make sure the purple clip in its full entirety is fitted correctly to the U bend and the very top of the clip locks into the top of the part of the vacuum where the U bend grooves are

My DC04 feels weak when reclined. It feels strong when upright. Filters have been changed, the internal hose is fine as well. I've checked all seals. Still nothing. Do you know what it may be?
If the suction at the internal hose is the same as at the main hose, the issue will probably be something to do with the brushbar, soleplate, seals, brushbar or clutch
