  • Without a doubt, star tortoises have arguably been considered the most beautiful tortoise species on the planet. Their intricate patterns are simply stunning and both the Burmese star tortoise and the Indian star tortoises are heavily coveted throughout the world. We've been working with star tortoises for many years and it is our pleasure to bring you a comprehensive video on how to tell the two types apart.
Learn how to differentiate Indian from Burmese, a bit about natural history and husbandry of Star tortoises, as well.

Burmese star tortoises in my hometown of Myanmar are not as few as the outside world think .
They breed well in Myanmar zoos with the help of Taipei Zoo and TSA . Many tortoises had released into the wild nowadays 😊

I believe I may be the first person to successfully breed and reproduce Indian stars in Hawaii. Although mine were marketed as Sri Lankans when I bought them in 2007. My females are on the larger size for stars. And my males are super tiny compared to the females. It’s quite comical to watch them mate.

For me, as a lover of ALL Shellies, every turtle, tortoise or Terrapin is beautiful. My glorious Miss Lilypad has a rather plain carapace...dark brown with a greenish cast. But it's on her face, neck and legs that Miss Lily REALLY dazzles, with creamy yellow lines alternating with parallel lines of a green so dark, it looks black.
    MISS LILYPAD IS A DAZZLING
    DIVA!!!

I think the most beautiful tortoises are the Hermann’s Hermanni hermanni like the one on your t shirt, of course I’m very biased as my tortoise, Pebble is a (THH). His colours are so vibrant and highly contrasting and he has the very cute keyhole scute. He’s such a confident mischievous tortoise (a lil bit like Otis) he follows us around wanting to be involved in everything including cuddles. I had previously only known the larger Hermann’s , they came across quite timid which is the complete opposite to Pebble 🐢 Absolutely love your channel and everything that you both are doing 🤗🇬🇧🤗
