I'm a huge Phil Collins fan and I find this hilarious. South Park mock everyone. Phil actually got off lightly compared to what they did to Rod Stewart.
I didn't realize Phil Collins is always holding his Oscar in south park because he beat Trey Parker for the Oscar. I knew he won but I didn't know South Park lost to him, I just always assumed that Phil Collins always talks about winning an Oscar or something (which he doesn't, that's why what I originally thought was the joke doesn't make sense)
There is an episode where the boys and the girls are sledding down a hill for some competition, and the hill has Phil Collins' face on it. Rewatching Season 4 all these years later, you actually notice a lot of minor digs they took at him. It's hilarious how mad Trey was about losing to Phil Collins.
If you go to The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas the museum part is just Phil Collins' personal collection of artifacts with him narrating over the loud speakers. It is called "The Phil Collins Collection".
Yeah, I found out a few years back that he was a dedicated collector of those artifacts for years and then ultimately donated them to the museum. What an unexpected hobby interest for Phil Collins.
We watched American psycho in the inpatient facility I was at and when he starts talking about how the album showed an advanced professionalism I almost died
The album was amazing. The band had had decades of experience as prog-rock musicians at that point. Hilarious was that Bateman had no idea how humans interact and started quoting some article he had read.
Phil Collins had previously enjoyed a different parody of himself, when the British show Spitting Image depicted a hideous puppet of him singing about losing both his wife and his hair. (They worked hard to nail the instrumental sound of his solo career, too.) After that, he even got the show to produce the amazing music video for Genesis’ “Land of Confusion.” The South Park thing was Parker and Stone hating on him, there was no friendly messing around.
Yea but south park is funnier and better satire than that cringe puppet impression show. That's like Chris Barries low point imo I hate spitting image.
@@thatoneguychad420 South park is very funny, and also unbelievably childish, stupid and degenerate, and no legitimate sentiment its makers have can ever be taken seriously.
If Trey Parker is to be believed then Phil Collin’s comments they heard at the event probably didn’t help. Also the Oscar’s is the Super Bowl for movie nerds so I imagine the nominees are very competitive.

I absolutely love how salty and petty Trey was about losing to Phil Collins in the Oscars, he made him into a Gumby in South Park! That disabilities remark still makes me laugh!
I don't know if it makes any difference, but Phil Collins was absolutely robbed for the Best Song Oscar for Against All Odds in 1984. When the song was nominated, Phil arranged his world tour to be in LA for the ceremony when he got a letter to "Mr. Cooper" from the Academy, telling them that the original artists weren't doing their song this year...which was a lie since Stevie Wonder performed the winner, I Just Called To Say I Love You. Phil had to sit in the audience and squirm while Bob Fosse girlfriend Ann Reinking butchered the song with a weird dance number. Afterward, Phil shrugged it off by saying that Stevie was "blind, black, and lives in LA," so of course he was going to win. The whole situation got worse when Stevie said he'd already written the song for Nelson Mandela and that it had nothing to do with the lame Gene Wilder comedy it won for, The Lady in Red.
And then Phil rolled down the window on his limo with his award, flipping them off with both fingers yelling "Suck it, Yanks, and yank it, suckers! GOD SAVE THE QUEEEEEEEEEN MFs"
To all the Phil Collins fans (and that includes me), yes, Phil Collins is great. Genesis was great. This is just two legendary shit-disturbers disturbing shit. I love Phil Collins. I love South Park. None of this "drama" is serious.
