    When Sansa told him she'd fed Ramsey to his own hounds they both laughed. Both Stark girls were alive because of him. Sansa squeezed his hand in quiet gratitude and at the end Arya called him by his name and said so much in those two words, "thank you" in my opinion the show ended there, all the rest was anti climax

      It was one of the only times he was referred to as a person somebody cares about. He was a warrior, a “killer”as he would say but only wanted somebody to love him. Didn’t want to be called a knight but had more loyalty and honor than just about any knight in Westeros. Best character arc in the whole series IMHO

I'm gonna miss this father/daughter pair because that is what I think Sandor became to her. I honestly think he knew her better than anyone else at this point, he was there when she changed into what she is today, he fully understands it and he fully accepted it. He wasn't afraid of her or in awe of her, he didn't want anything from her, he just cared enough about her to give her some good advice.

    The hound was a complex character that showed as the series moved on that he wasn't just a hired killer... he clearly had feelings for Sansa and certainly would have taken her to safety had she travelled with him. When he captured Arya.... it's ironic because as soon as he did she was the safest she was at any point before or after. He saw a lot of himself in Arya and this brought out the caring side in him even if he tried to mask it. He went from captur to protector in a short space of time. Arya's feelings towards him also changed as he revealed more about himself. I think by the end when she was hell bent on killing Cersei and he grabbed her and then emplored her to get out alive she finally realised what he had been doing for her all along... she realised that this big rough warrior really cared and wanted to protect her. That why she called him Sandor at the end and thanked him. She had separated him from his hard exterior to the caring protective man whom she owed a debt of gratitude to. It probably wasn't love on his behalf but he genuinely liked, protected and cared deeply for her. An excellent story within a story.... enhanced greatly by two naturally talented actors.

      it could have happened exactly like it did, Sandor could've been badly beaten, but pushed the mountain through the wall and got away somehow. His last scene could've been him at winterfell, at the Stark home with Sansa's maester tending to him as he recovers. being looked after by the ones he protected and saved. maybe have Arya telling him she will return to visit some day as she heads out.

    • @Yukiba
      @Yukiba 5 лет назад +72

      Nah. His character had to die. His redemption arc has long past and the only reason he lived this long (other than Clegane Bowl) was a way to show not only the growth in Arya's character but to show her the consequences of seeking revenge in life. He went out in a badass way which is more than can be said for other characters; he conquered his fear of fire AND he accomplished his life's goal of beating/killing his older brother. There was nothing left for him to do after that.

    • @Yukiba
      @Yukiba 5 лет назад +32

      @@blakeforce2672 That's like a Disney ending. It doesn't always work out that way and even if it did, Sandor's storyline is finished. There's literally nowhere else it can go. Him dying the way he did was the best possible way to go out, on a "high". Letting him live would've defeated the speech he gave Arya about revenge, especially since both knew once they went down that path there was no turning back.

    This is so perfect im tearing up aahhdh they were seriously such a perfect duo, their scenes were always brilliant to watch. I’m so glad they got a proper good ending with that last “Sandor, thank you.” He really need that, it shows he really did make up for all the bad he did and he is deserving of respect and thanks, so when he died killing his brother he died in peace.

    It was so touching when he said „you want to be like me?“ Knowing you destroyed yourself bc of your heartless brother...he was so self- sacrificing. He did so much for others and the last thing was what he did for himself taking out his monster brother... arya and the hound were just perfect together. He knew arya has a soft heart just like him. Great video

    Very nice compilation. Arya's time with Sandor taught her that he never bothered to lie about what he was, or try to ingratiate himself to anyone. It was how she learned to trust in the signs that she began to see, that he respected her and even came to care for her in his way. Sandor had an ocean of pain behind his wall of anger. His expression, his words when the buried the poor man and his daughter were such that it would not have been more powerful if he'd fallen to his knees and started bawling. We saw on more than one occasion that Sandor had a least something soft side for girls.
    In the end, Sandor gave Arya everything he had left that wasn't vengeance.

    The poetry woven throughout this show pierces even the hardest of hearts. Very moving. The hound is my favorite character out of all the great performances that took part in this series because even though he may play one of the toughest, hardest and meanest roles on the show..... beneath all that hides just another human with vulnerabilities born outve hardships; and once every so often he uncovers his humanity for a brief moment that exposes his kindness and the conflict within him.

    They’re definitely the best duo of this series. The unconventional frenemies/ foster family they both didn’t know that they needed.
    He gave her a new perspective on the world that helped her survive it... she gave him a chance to feel human again though she started out with hate, because despite of or maybe inspite of her hate, she was the first person who didn’t shy away or got scared of looking at him and more than that she had the nerve to justify her hatred and tell him as she looked him in the eye she’d kill him someday. All his life owing to his appearance people avoided looking at him as much as they could or only cared for the fear they could employ by using his skills. He had been feared and he had been employed for who he was... but worse than that he was reduced to feeling like and being considered a beast, a dog...
    Arya’s hate was a refreshing change for him because despite not meaning to, not even knowing that she was doing it she was humanizing him just by being herself around him and not being afraid of him.
    In the end as she called him Sandor, it wasn’t just because she wanted to thank him... but because she knew that the Hound was dead... Arya’s killed the Hound and the man who loved her enough to make sure she lived was in fact really Sandor Clegane.

    The Hound knew how terrible the world truly was. He hated fighting for the Lannister's, hated the King, Cersei, etc. But he did it because he has nothing to care for, nobody he admired. But I think he saw something in both the Stark girls. He saw a fighting spirit, and loyalty towards their family. I think in his own way he genuinely had a fatherly love for both of them, but especially to Arya.
    And his role in protecting and mentoring Arya ultimately was pivotal in helping her to survive long enough for her to go on to become an assassin and learn the skills she needed in order to defeat the Night King.

    I fucking loved in the battle of Winterfell when Sandor was having a panic attack because of all the fire, all it took was seeing Arya in danger to snap him out of it. He did a full on Molly Weasley.
    "Not my daughter you bitch!"
    And then his next scene was standing right next to a flaming sword.
    There are only two things stronger then his fear of fire; his hatred for his brother and his love for Arya.
    He also rode through fire at the red wedding to save her.

  • @tracydyson6896

    Sandor really was a father figure to Arya, whether she knew it or not. Her outward appearance reflected her Northern heritage that resembled Ned and Jon, but her persona was so very similar to The Hound's. It's really obvious when she got back to Westeros, the scene in the pub where she sees Hot Pie again. She totally emulates Clegane in that scene, and almost every one after that when she acts like a hard killer. I think their story arc ended perfectly this way. Bittersweet.
    Thank you for this video. You've managed to make me cry. Again.

    Another reason why GOT was so good, was the journey we went on with Sandor and Arya and at the end we see finally the love they have for each other in a father and daughter relationship, where he goes totally against his nature and tells her to go and thus live, when he knows his end is to follow his curse of finally having revenge on his brother.
