I don't live in India but my family originated from there and I'm quite certain that Japanese curry cubes are not a common thing there! Indians usually make curry from scratch which is why a lot of brown families will have huge spice racks with curry powder, chili powder, turmeric, and many different types of spices! I've had both and Indian curry and Japanese curry don't taste anything like each other but they're both delicious in their own ways!
