    Finally, a tutorial session that didn't overburden me with then-irrelevant detail! My task was to copy several files from Git to GitHub, and you succinctly provided me with just the steps I needed to get the job done. Thank you very kindly indeed.

    Amazing...I was finally successful because of this video. It would be amazing to see a follow up video about how you can push again after you've made changes. I know there should be tons of videos out there that explain this. But one coming from this channel would be ideal. Up-vote if you agree.

    Very well explained by Maggie, especially with the 'steps'. Just realised default branches are now named 'main' and not 'master', something that was introduced in 2020.

      Hey newbie here as well. Here is what worked for me.
      * Run *git init*
      * Run *git add* .
      * Run *git status* to see the files waiting to be added
      * Copy and paste the remote repository url. It is the -push an existing repository from the command line- link in your GitHub repo.
      * To commit, run *git commit -m “enter-your-commit-name”* Example will be *git commit -m “first commit”*
      P.S: If it prompts for username and email, you will need to redo the commit command after configuring the prompts.
      * Run *git push -u origin master* to push project to GitHub.

    But Github isn't a version control system. GIT is a version control system and Github is a cloud-based Git remote repository service built on top, completely interchangeable with Bitbucket, Kallithea, GitLab and many others. Sorry to be a nerd about it, but people think Git and Github are the same and use the terms interchangeably. And they are not the same.
