    When I listen to traditional music of any nation I am always deeply moved, feeling the wisdom and honesty it reveals. Growing up with slavic traditions, I experienced how important rituals are to connect us.
    “Reja” means “dance” in Sorbian. This song expresses folk melodies and elements which had grown inside of me for a long time.
    Feel the spirit of spring and be inspired to come up with your own dance! :)

I'd love to hear you cover Song of Durin by Eurielle, one of my all time favourites and i think your theremin and voice match perfectly! If you did please let me know I'd be amazed to hear it :)

    Do you realize she has to basically have perfect pitch to hit each note dead on everytime?! They're never too flat or too sharp! That's insanely amazing!

    • @TheMistressMisery
      @TheMistressMisery 5 лет назад +2

      Is perfect pitch rare or something? I always hear people talk about it like it's some revered, unattainable thing.

    • @TheSatyrical
      @TheSatyrical 5 лет назад +10

      @@TheMistressMisery It's pretty rare. It's the ability to tell what note something is without reference. Most people are better at telling relative differences between notes but not what the exact notes are. But because of this, people with perfect pitch also have more trouble shifting notes because they're not as good with relative pitch.

    •  5 лет назад +2

      Well... is that really different from, say, normal singing?
      BTW, the start of the video suggests it was possible e.g. to get a "tuning reference" (or how I'd call that) a couple seconds before she started and then just go on with relative pitch from that point. (She holds her right hand in position already.) To be clear, I *do* believe that she's very good and that maintaining good pitch on theremin (and some other instruments) requires quite some skill... I'd just not focus the praise on "absolute pitch", if that's even what you meant (but the two commenters before me also understood it that way).

    • @Ricocossa1
      @Ricocossa1 5 лет назад +9

      Actually she developed a whole technique with the requirement that you don't have to hear the note to hit it right, which in my opinion it's even better than simply being gifted with perfect pitch.

    • @ZoryaUtrennyaya
      @ZoryaUtrennyaya 5 лет назад +6

      She might be perfect pitch but she explained her playing te hnique and it's about discipline (practice, practice, practice), understanding your body well, and muscle memory

    The mix of a old place, different influences on your music, your presence while playing, and a different instrument like the theremin with loops is like the meeting of past, present and future. Everything is so beautiful here, including you, of course!
    The theremin is working here like a extension of your voice. The looping of voices in a chorus makes me think of lots of people calling for a dance of peace to celebrate a new day of spring. It's like a connection between the music of different nations and the ethereal essence of the Universe. Its something new, but it seems like i have heard it in past times.
    I feel that connection with traditional music of other nations, like i'm embodying or rescuing that culture from past lives. And i also feel glad to know that you have this connection, because i feel it in your music, too.

    And the vocals and the music mix greatly with the spirit of the place! Search Andalusian music, there is a song called "lamma bada yatathana" listen to it on a violin, I think your vocals and the theremin can make it magical!

    This 5/4 time signature, and the bass is so amazing, especially at 1:58
    Did you do the bass on the Theremin aswell? Because it sounds like contrabass, but some of the tones are just too deep for a contrabass xD

    • @Ohyehah
      @Ohyehah 5 лет назад +1

      Writing this in English - selv om jeg er 99% sikker på at du i hvert fall er skandinavisk :p
      Spent quite a while trying to crack this one, because while I agree with you that the base rythm here is a subdivsion of 5/4, it doesn't feel like 5/4. As strange as it seems, I think the most appropriate denotation would be 4/4+1/4 (or 4+4+4+4+4/4 :p). The structure of the bass is 3 beats, then 1 beat anticipation, then 4 beats, 3 beats 1 anticipation, 3 beats 1 anticipation again, then 2 quarter notes and 1 half note. This is all played staccatto, so it's really hard to count out all the beats of the pauses, but I'm sure this is what's actually going on. The result is something that feels both stable and warped at the same time, for me it's sort of a mix between 5/4 and 7/8 feel, with the strong emphasis on the last part of a string. Really cool way to utilise the rythm, and I think it's such a creative foundation that it drives the entire piece.

    • @renaezelmar6718
      @renaezelmar6718 5 лет назад +1

      She actually talks about this in a recent collab. I am pretty sure the bass is on the theremin. Since the sounds are not limited to the physical structure of the instrument, you can get these really rich, deep bass sounds that you feel more than you can hear. I am sure it's even more incredible in person when it's not limited by digital recording compression etc.
