Very familiar coastline, I’m currently on the seafront at Hopeman in my motorhome, I was inspired to come to this coast by your NE250 videos before the pandemic. We have been to Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum, Gardenstown, Crovie, Portsoy, Cullen, Findochty, Portknockie, Portgordon, Spey Bay,. Today we walked to the caves at Hopeman, Burghead tomorrow, then heading back. Thank you for the inspiration Kim my blog is full of lovely photos and memories

    Thanks Kim,
I spent a few years in that area way back in time, and I loved that part of our world.
Our cameras were the 35mm 'Film' type and processing wasn't as easy as it is these days.
These days I use Nikon DX & FX with a variety of lens including some from Sigma.
All have provided great results, so I see no need to change for now.
I'm not planning on going mirrorless, but for those that do I hope you enjoy what is a great hobby.

Just wow. I live in Herefordshire and while the countryside is wonderful in its own right, you can't beat a sunset by the sea for the reflections. You must feel like you have gone to heaven every time you step foot outside your door, as Scotland is just a beautiful country. Back in 1994, I lived in Lauder in the borders for 9 months working for a company called Colourbox. My biggest regret was never travelling about during my free time, with my camera. Looking forward to seeing the drama you will catch now Autumn is setting in.

Thank you Antony. I agree wholeheartedly about the sunset at the coast. I enjoy being in the countryside but always feel alive at the coast, especially at sunset. Nothing beats it for me. It's a shame you didn't take the time to travel more in your spare time when in Scotland but hopefully you're making up for it now.

If I ever moved to Full Frame Mirrorless. This will be the one.
I could also use an FtZ adapter with my 20mm f1.8.
However my DSLRs are working just fine at the moment and as an amateur I don't need to spend any more on mediocre shots (mine that is). Nice ones there Kim, very realistic and not overly processed like some other RUclipsrs I'd wouldn't care to mention 📷👍

Nice shots of a beautiful landscape and good advice. Actually, I rarely leave home without a "complete" FL range from 16-800mm (135/"FF" eq, as I shoot MFT). Despite the best-laid plans, you never know what you're going to find or how you're going to want to shoot it. My Lumix G9, the four lenses I generally carry to cover that FL range, filters, batteries, etc (even a submersible Olympus TG5), plus a very rarely-used flash and soft-box, all fit into a small sling pack that weighs about 5kg/11lb I can easily schlep almost anywhere (including places a FF or MF set-up just isn't practical). With 6.5-stops of IS, I rarely need a tripod and it's amazing how often I use the full 800mm (minimum focusing distance = 1.3m/4.27 ft). If I leave that lens, I can stuff two other lenses in a jacket pocket and go sans pack (still covering 18-200mm). The Z6 is a nice system, but I've rarely felt the need for anything larger than MFT, given its mobility and outstanding performance (especially with DxO software). If you stay under 200mm, then a larger format system is reasonably manageable most of the time, and as you mention in another vid, sometimes limiting your gear can spur creativity. I often find myself sticking with one lens-even a prime-although I have others with me.

Lovely images, I really steer towards wide angle shots but I'm thinking of purchasing a longer lens to be able to capture those more intimate, closer details. A great example of the different kind of images you can capture with a range of focal lengths.

Incredible shots by the sea. The 'rule of thumb' has been to not use a polarizer into the sun or less than almost perpendicular, however, you got an amazing effect with both the polarizer and the ND. It's good to break the rules some times......

Hi Kim, thanks for this and the many other videos of yours that I have enjoyed. I was trying to get that very low sunset shot you got in Rosehearty this August . It didn't pan out for me and I missed the higher shots as I'd just arrived and had to rest for a wee while. I'm disabled and have found in the past that pushing myself at those times is not a good idea. Great pictures you got there and I'll be back next year for another go. Hi Kim! Nice video! The title of this video pulled me in. I personally am struggling between Sony's 24-135mm and the 100 - 400mm lenses. And maybe I should add the F2.8 70- 200mm, because that fast lens, would come in so helpful for early morning shoots. Your photos are beautiful, and you are beautiful! Thanks for sharing! )))

Kim, I really like your photography. I study your technique and I use the same equipment (Z6 & 7). Landscape photography is one of my main hobbies along with travel journalism. I first realized the telephoto lens was a great landscape lens back when I was still in film and was using my 135mm and 200mm lenses on my Nikon F. The way these lenses bring the background right up to compliment the front can be used in many good ways that tell a story if the foreground subject is coupled with the associated background. I'm always looking for that correlation. Just wanted to add a bit of encouragement to continue your photo journey.

Happy Sunday, Kim. Fantastic video post, the conditions were wonderful. Your first tidal pool image is really spectacular, and later on the closeup of the sun behind the clouds.
I agree about the lens choice. For my camera, I have a 28-200mm Tamron which has become my primary lens. I am ok sacrificing a probably hardly noticeable amount of sharpness for the flexibility of the lens. Best wishes from California.

Very nice sunset and pictures. I am curious, is there a reason you don't use HDR or multiple images combined instead of graduated filters? While I do use behind the lens circular polarizer, I don't use grad filters in front of the lens. This can be achieved with multiple exposures and raw editor.

Can u help in regard to red sky's at pm and am time. How do you know when the sky will be red through the clouds. Smaching shots. 👌

You can't always predict it but usually if there's some high up clouds in the sky, they are the ones that light up after sunset or before sunrise. The lower down clouds don't. If you see whispy clouds you are usually onto a winner but nothing is guaranteed

Hi Kim, looks beautiful there. Where exactly is it?
there's some amazing locations where I live in Macduff, but sadly, sunsets not great due to geography :-(
    Another great video, thanks!

    Kim,
I assume that one of the Z camera and the 24-200 mm is a Z-mount lens?

How are you able to have your lighthouse calendar printed and sell it for 18.99 while making a profit? Thanks!
