AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
My favorite is the one called "Untitled."
untitled slaps
Untitled is a masterpiece
@@chrisbarnette7137 Because it's an untitled masterpiece.
Jarboe; backround vocals and weeping
ah yes my favorite instrument, weeping
"You never saw me weeping on the floor."
Ditto
And who could forget her breathtaking "Trapped Insect Recording"?
I had this in my recommendations and my first thought was 'this looks like a Swans album cover'. Little did I know :D
The man himself just posted this on his Facebook
AHHHHHHHHHHHJJJJJJJ
Jarboe really nailed the trapped insect recording. Probably the best I've ever heard.
timestamp pleaSE!

Come back to this once in a while, not too much. Easily among the best Gira-helmed side projects. Takes me to a totally free mental zone, which ironically makes it incredible for when I need to be totally focused to get work done.
Definitely playing this music at my wedding.
If you're marrying the queen of the underworld then sure it might work
how many songs u gonna play at ur weEDding xD
My favourite song is 'Untitled'
Album magnifico. Geniale. Grande M.Gira!!! Grazie. EnzoItaly
This recording and DRAINLAND are the two best M. Gira related projects since PUBLIC CASTRATION IS A GOOD IDEA double live lp.
magic mushrooms and this album I guess it was some kind of experience..
Jesus Christ.
I will give that a try some day!
Great upload! Thanks for keeping this “project” album in the public consciousness. Gira is prolific genius and this album, with the usual suspects aiding and abetting, is a testament to that. I haven’t heard it in years. Cheers!
I loved this album when it was released and as a matter of fact I still do. I hope that during the next Swans hiatus - if that’s what this is - that Gira will do a follow up. I know it’s a word I overuse but it’s an effect I get from some of my favorite music. Yes once again - it’s hypnotic and puts me in that Zen state like nothing else.
Hope you've seen the news on The Beggar lol
the beggar has a very similar vibe in my opinion, hope you like the new album
@@nikigira I have heard it and I love it. I won't say it's their best in years because every Swans album has such a unique personality it's hard to compare but it's definitely their most immediate since maybe Love Of Life.
You get it - Swans, to me, is about getting into a state of mind as you listen. Certainly with the studio albums (which I always prefer to listen to in their entirety rather than listen to specific songs), but so much more so with the live experience. I last caught them in 2017 touring The Glowing Man / Deliquescence - I always worry that it'll come across as pretentious when I say that it was like I was hypnotised, in some kind of trance, for the nearly 2.5 hour set. I was maybe third row from the stage, on my feet for well over 3 hours, maybe 4+ (including the opening act, which was Thurston Moore and his band (not Sonic Youth) and they created a magnificent cacophony of war sounds, sounds of death and destruction. The perfect canvas for Swans to follow up by atomising everything, carpet bombing our eardrums with sonic nukes. The pain in my legs got pretty severe halfway into their set, but subsided as my mind went somewhere else entirely. Felt like I was under the effects of some psychedelic drug. I started their set with ear plugs, but decided to take them off at some point to feel the full force of their sound. I think my ears rang for 3 or 4 days and it certainly contributed to my burgeoning tinnitus! A spectacular band. Seeing them again tonight, excited for what's to come.
@@diegosebastian2226 I don't doubt that for a second. When 'The Seer' finally came out after what seemed like an eternity I set my stereo on 'thunderous' and at the end I was extremely close to hypnotized as well. Dazed - absolutely. A mean thought uncontrollably passed through my mind when I read your post - I wonder how Thurston Moore felt being the opening slot for Michael Gira. Ah well - cheat on Kim Gordon and that's what you get. Not to question another mans life choices but Kim Gordon just isn't quite cutting it for you ? Still it's fantastic you caught him on a great night opening for the Swans no less. I have a couple of his albums I would charitably call 'noodling' but I also have a few that are raging electric bliss and you caught him in that mode 👍
The first time i heard this album I was tripping alone and my friend sent it to me to freak me out, it’s amazing but gives me mad acid flashbacks now it was terrifying to hear in that state
still a rite of passage I see, swans freaking people out
@@cc-bf9es yes exactly in the years that have passed since this comment i have evolved to now freak my friends out in return with whitehouse and brainbombs, its a vicious cycle
Heavy doses of acid and Swans is one of my favorite combos in the world.
Did anyone attend the Bodylovers at Labradford's Festival of Drifting at Lungdung's QEH? 98 I think. Wonder how it compared to this Total Masterpiece.
Gira is best !!!
Absolutely brilliant
A gem of an album. Many thanks for sharing!
What a good artistic album
OMFG WHERE HAS THIS GEM BEEN
How beautiful
I think reading that Jarboe contributed both "weeping" and "trapped insect recording" tells a lot about this album before it even starts. That and the pig...
jesus this is perfect ! i'm in the first 10 minutes and its totally amazing
OOWWWW this is GREAT !!! thanks to M.Gira for posting .... (shame on me that i had no idea about this, i m quite new to SWANS & co stuff)
this brings tears to my eyes....it is sublime....
wow the piece towards 1 hour is a really special vibe.
if you like this then check out swans- soundtracks for the blind
Even if you didn't like this, check out soundtrack for the blind.
I doubt anyone here hasn't heard soundtracks
if you like soundtracks for the blind check this out
"check out!" would Gira say
im definitely sure people listened to soundtracks first, and then found this
This is what my mental state sounds like.
nice
I guess that both of you hate KC so much... expecially In the Court of the Crimson King.
Go see a fucking doctor
King Crimson \m/ Saw Tool a few days ago, these two new songs have a lot of influence. Just like all the work, but the influence is more and more notorious. August 30 \m/
WOW Did't know this existed ! amazing
pain killer @!!! will use this more often !
To come think of it, that stretching sounds exactly like a provoked & cornered African grey, almost alluding to the theme of an uncanny figure standing there.
A truly wonderful album. Thank you Mr Gira and your friends!
this. this is good.
I would actually study to this. Thank God Jarboe's crying wasn't tragic and was brief.
!!!
The Body Lovers - Number One Of Three [FULL] Thanks Gardenhead
When it switches to the 2nd track I can just picture courage the cowardly dog. Ican see that being used in an episode somewhere.
I love "Untitled", 1 to 10!
thank you for the upload :)
James Plotkin + _____________ = I´m home
Love it!
This is what my mental state sounds like / 2
sounds like my 20s
another incredible project by M.G.....Kurt Ralske of Ultra Vivid Scene?
Funny, I was looking for Serial Experiments Lain CDs, then for Gira's stuff, then I'm linked to a video of Gira's music uploaded by a Haibane Renmei pfp
Beautiful brutality.
Yeah
Very good album, but pieces 4, 5, and 7 are transcendental.
M
But where is number two and three Michael?
Arno Burtner Three never happened as M Gira formed Angels of Light.
Gira states that the bonus disc of Swans's "My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky" (the one that is 44 minute track "Look At Me Go") should be considered as "Number Two of Three"
Body haters was its only follow up i know of
I own a haters & this lovers
@@thekindlyone source?
@@paolovallejo5500 "I took instrumental passages and single sounds from the “My Father...” album and tortured them and stretched them and added other sounds and orchestrations and strangled that mess until it was forced into a new form called “Look At Me Go”. The process was similar to what I did with my Body Lovers/Body Haters project. In a sense this is actually The Body lovers #2 of 3. Additional contributions to this piece of music were generously provided by Jason La Farge (strings) Hunter Hunt Hendrix (guitar) Kristoph Hahn (guitar) )and Brian Carpenter (horns)... in addition I mumbled and bleated here and there. Any number of sounds were wrestled from various animate and inanimate sources. This was mixed/mangled/compiled/composed/abused at Seizure’s Palace - Jason La Farge engineer and at Marcata Studio - Kevin McMahon engineer.
- Thanks! Michael Gira/2010"
From the description to the Special Edition of "My father...". You can find it on the younggodrecords site.
