I love the FDNY. I was a volunteer FF some years back. When I was in Bermuda on my honeymoon, I met a division chief at the pool of the place we were staying. He complained that he couldn't find a decent book to read in the lobby bookshelf. I had two books with me, and gave him one. Jokingly, i said that, in return, i want to do a ride-a-long in the City. About a month later, I'm home, and the phone rings; the caller says he's Chief Bell, from the club in Bermuda.... We'll, he did as I'd asked. I met him at Division 3 headquarters in Manhattan that following weekend, we had lunch; then he drove me to Engine 54, 4 Truck's house, where I stayed for the rest of the weekend. It was awesome!
This video is a repost of a video that was previously posted on YT. Since it was posted, Chief John Hodgens retired, and John Esposito, who was chief of operations, is now chief of department. Also, Lillian Bonsignore has retired from her position as chief of EMS.
Good video. I worked with Chief Hodges' father, back in L-3 when he was the Captain. If anyone wants to learn more of those days, see my detailed work, MY TURN ON THE FIRELINES 1980-2003 B&N
The part about subways reminds me of the King's Cross Station fire in London in 1987, and the fire in the BART Transbay tube fire between San Francisco & Oakland CA, in 1979. Firefighters killed in both incidents. So, good to having a training place for that. That laser methane detector is a great invention.
It’s a miserable job. People have no clue. Treated like crap by everyone. The firefighters, you name it. FDNY ems are by no means given the same respect as the firemen, or cops.
The hisory of fdny if you want to kkeep it stop calling fire dept fire service stop calliing companys units roll call on aparatus floor ff should have uniform caps on dont loose you tradittion

4.5 stars. Would have been a 5-star documentary if not for that distracting music that drowns the narration.
Yeah fire the audio mixer i cant hear any voices
It's disrespectful too
5.0 here
I agree! The “music” is awful!
Make it stop!

15:00 who's cutting onions?
Being a firefighter myself here in Slovenia, great video, really interesting to see how different department's work around the world ❤❤

Very nice constructif video about the NYFD
Idk about anyone else. But I never heard anyone say F the fire department. Maybe they should help with professionalism in other departments
😂 where do live? In a hole?

MEMORIES ! THANK YOU TO ALL PAST AND PRESENT MEMBERS ! 🇺🇲
FDNY EMS and the hospital crews are supposedly treated like trash
By the public??
Probably 😞 @@Watch-0w1
Treated like trash by whom?

With that many members, how do they have union meetings?
thank you !
How come fdny doesn’t cross train their fireman to bring EMT and Paramedics?
I’m sure the medical call volume would be significantly alleviated
that music in the backround is way to loud. thumbs down.
Buckslip Bonsignore was one of the worst EMS chiefs. Good riddance.
911 we lost many..was there a protocol for fdny in such a situation
WHEN I STARTED, IT WAS INCH AND A HALF..TOOK ME A LONG TIME TO CALL IT INCH AND THREE QUARTER.
lo máximo realmente realmente colega bombero
New York City bravest doing what they do best 🧑🚒🚒🇺🇸
❤nice
Music way unecessary and loud. Im calling the cops on you right now.
Government ruined the fire departments and police departments in America
Less than a minute in and I had to stop because of the music, disrespectful to the first responders.
Does that Drone unit guy get paid the same as the fireman that goes into a burning building ?
Yes
He’s a fully trained and experienced firefighter soooo yeah.
Being a fire fighter being described as cool is a lil funny lol
Can you stop calling engine companys
Why stop calling them companies?
The hisory of fdny if you want to kkeep it stop calling fire dept fire service stop calliing companys units roll call on aparatus floor ff should have uniform caps on dont loose you tradittion
