I’m trying to use my Piaggero np12 on logic, it recognizes very fast. I tried to record some sounds, but when I try to hear it the sounds only come out of the piano speakers, what can I do to hear in on the logic? Pls help 🙏🏻🙏🏻
How do you connect? Usb cable to computer. Press a key on the keyboard, and In Logic toolbar (transport bar, below 4/4 and Cmaj) you can see a "grey dot" if you have incoming midi, whenever you press a key...and it will also show you what notes / chord you play on the keyboard. That's the first step to verify midi is incoming to Logic.
Yes, you can use any keyboard that features a midi out port as a midi controller with Logic Pro X! If your audio interface has a midi input port, connect Midi Out from Roland XP 60 to Midi In of your audio interface (or midi interface) and look in Audio Midi Setup to see if your MAC recognizes the keyboard. Then you can use it in Logic Pro without further setup. It should be selectable in Inspector panel for the track under "Midi In Port".

Control surface setup is not needed for a midi key to work with Logic. Just verify Audio Midi Setup can see the midi controller (and its lit up…not darkened / transparent). Look in track inspector in logic for a single software instrument track and look at midi input. Your midi keyboard should show up there. 👌
Sadly, even though every midi connection is visible in Audio-Midi, & in Logic, the Kawai as a "Loc On" controller for note input simply won't play anything, I even used a straight USB-Midi out connection cable, just looks to be outdated. Actually it's damaged, I just checked it on the Windows side as well, thanks for your response.

This was not helpful. The keyboard is producing notes, but the transport buttons are not working.
i came for the same reason.. this info he provided is obvious and old info. why is it hard for people to show to to link the transport controls? jeez
I've always used mine as a Midi Controller connected from my motu interface only, to input notation on Mac using Finale, but doesn't seem to work in Logic Pro X without an available control surface which it doesn't have, & bypassing control surfaces hasnt worked, even though the Mac Audio-Midi setup, motu, & Logic can all see it connected.
I am currently trying to troubleshoot this, I'd hate to put this keyboard in mothballs after all these years, it worked perfectly with Finale.
Did you try connecting the Keystep directly to a usb port on your computer, NOT via midi interface?
@@MattiasHolmgren Yes, but as it turned out, the old Kawai X-D 40 keyboard was physically damaged internally so nothing was going to work, & sadly I had no choice but to invest in a new M-Audio MK3 61 Keyboard that is strictly a Controller, it arrived yesterday. But kudos to the Kawai that served me so long & so well from 1994, & thanks for your interest & for your guidance to everyone, here!😊🎶
