Used to be quite terrified of flying. Then I started watching these cockpit videos and seeing just how much redundancy there is, and how professional pilots are. Amazing!

Helps even more if you get a simulator and actually learn all the processes that go into flying too! I used to be terrified of flying but now I watch these vids and just learned to takeoff and land a A350 very comfortably and my fear has turned more into an excitement of flying on passenger planes!
Very smooth, kind and articulate voice coming from Heathrow. Not the threatening JFK style where you daren't say a thing out of place.

Do you have any idea how many airports there are in that area and how much traffic they have to handle?
@@dmatthieu2 This is a major city thing the world over. London is a busy and congested place and its people have a reputation in the rest of the UK for being more unfriendly and abrupt than their provincial compatriots. Paris has the same reputation in France and so on.
@@cephalopod7300 yeah but dude acting like ATC is a walk in the park kind of job. Its a VERY STRESSFUL job with ZERO room for error. No one has time to be "nice". Thier job is to be professional enough and get you on the ground in one piece and preferably on time.
That cabin is immaculately clean : almost as impeccable as the crew.
Oned would hope so on a brand new 787-9 - this was the aircrafts first commercial flight :-)
The controllers around London sound lovely! Such a busy, stressful area and yet they speak so pleasantly. The way the guy was clearing planes to land sounded like he lived for those moments. The lady who said something like "Would you mind pulling the speed back juuuuust a little bit to 220 knots"
Maybe it's like the Premier League for Air Traffic controllers or something, only the best of the best work the London airspace.
I love this captains demeanor! This guy knows his plane backwards and forwards and is spot on his explanations!
a bit too much explanations/chattering in the sterile phase below FL100. just my oppinion.
Highly managed cockpit. No nonsense sterile cabin in descending. Flawless teamwork. Focused on weather. Perfect landing. Nicely done Captain pleasure flying with you today!

The commander couldn't be more professional and fabulous. London and Heathrow will always be my beloved city and airport respectfully. Gotta love the Brits for their calm and polite demeanor while handling so many flights non stop. I have never seen Autopilot off and landing clearance at Minimums. Super stuff.

Haha yeah been flying cessnas and got one at 50 ft which was a bit stressful, was about to ask for confirmation to land. But its another thing in a 787 at 100ft though haha

My mums house is right below the Lambourne Hold (LAM). I used to watch all the aircraft come in and plane spotting since I was 10:yrs old. Then it was B707 and VC-10s and Tridents !!

Always amazes me that while us passengers are just sitting, chatting, watching out the window, reading, etc there is SO much going on in the cockpit. The pilots are doing things constantly and it takes a lot of concentration and adherence to protocol. Its clear why airlines require pilots to have a certain amount of sleep.
WOW! super smooth landing weldone. My recent landing in Bangkok in a A380 (Emirates)☹ was shocking. Once on the runway the plane swerved dramatically from left to right about 7 times. Overhead lockers dropped things went flying all over the aircraft. Everyone was frightened including myself. I'm sure this is not normal as weather was fine.
Wow, glad you're okay. Sounds like this pilot should let others do the flying and he should spend some more hours in the simulator.
Crosswind landings are much harder, and this usually has the craft swerving on touchdown at least once.
Probably the first officer who is newer to crosswind landings overcorrecting

Was a passenger on a then-new 767 in the 80's. The pilot informed us he had some braking hydraulic problems while coming in to land at Boston Logan airport. It was cold and the runway was icy. I remember looking out my window and clearly seeing the runway center line sliding by as we touched down (the airplane was going rather sideways). The pilot got it straightened out and then stopped short & informed us he was waiting for a tow. After a few minutes he announced he had regained some braking hydraulic pressure and went on ahead to the gate. Deplaned without fanfare and went home!

They've got a nicer EFB than on our 787s. I always love the approach home on 27R and the ATC are second to none 😉

The British air traffic controllers are the best in the world. Calm, clear, precise.
I feel as though I was busier than the pilots on that approach. Clicking away constantly to get rid of the excessive adverts, I mean. Phew! Hard work.

That's the latest into final approach I've heard the autopilot switched off. Slightly more than 100' altitude.

More than just rain they landed in fog as dense as pea soup. First video that showed cross traffic that appeared so close, but were on a different plane of altitude. Very interesting. ☮️

i think the perception make it look faster tho. I think the two planes are going face to face sides., So what you are seeing is the pov from one of the plane's flyer, which gonna be allot different from a observer from standstill pov
