    Every time I see a 380 takeoff, I’m struck by how deceivingly slow it seems when they reach rotation speed. Also the acceleration for an aircraft approaching 500 tons is pretty amazing.

      Most of the pilots I've spoken to all agree it has become a lousy job. Extremely stressful with paychecks and pension funds that gets cut for no reason. They all agree it's a funny and exotic life when you're young since you basically visit the world for free, but after a while it gets old. Also, you are at constant risk of losing your job. Being a pilot in the '70ies and '80ies was another story, nowadays probably you're just a glorified bus driver. Hats to these fine men anyway, thanks to them milions of people each day are able to travel safely to their destinations.

      @@andreaforcella1094 There are worse jobs to be had. Nothing to complain about and it's fun if you are interested in planes. All jobs get old. Salary is huge. Personally I wouldn't want to be a pilot, but I don't think it's right to talk down like that saying they are a bus-driver.

    • @CodPix
      @CodPix Год назад +1

      @@andreaforcella1094 Some of your points aren't true. Being a pilot isn't being a "glorified bus driver" today. Being a pilot is still being responsible of hundred of passengers and the salary is still huge, even if it can be stressing with some airlines. Being a pilot isn't always lousy. It's not because it happens one time to some pilots that it happens to everyone everytime

    Saw one of these behemoths take off at Frankfurt airport a few years ago. And I’ve seen a C5 take off too. It’s insane watching it lumber down the runway and takeoff. It never looks like it’s going fast enough because of how big it is but eventually the nose rises and up it goes.

    The first time I flew that route was in 1959 as a passenger on a BOAC Comet 4. We couldn't land at Kuala Lumpur, so we had to go to Singapore. The flight time was 19 hrs 10 minutes, but we had about six stops on the way so the journey time was longer. We flew at 480 kts and 40,000 ft. I've done Australia to the UK and return via Singapore/KL several times on an A380. I prefer the A380 🙂

    • @televisio8652
      @televisio8652 8 месяцев назад +1

      The tower cleared them to line up and wait on runway 09R. That means they get clearance to line up on the runway and get ready for departure. Obviously they cannot line up on their own regard, but in this case they were cleared to do so. Normally in super heavy aircraft like these you get a line up clearance prior to a takeoff clearance since they take a bit more time to get set up on the runway centerline and for the pilots to do their departure checklists. Hope this helps!

    It is interesting how a380 is designed to hold more wieght and passengers but b747 always flies at full captivity and has less room for passengers

    When will a video of a complete large flight come out? Congratulations on the videos. Fighting for my dream of flying an a380.

      Never. These videos are free previews. If you want the full flights you can buy them from the Justplanes site.

      As Ben said, these are indeed short videos of the full 3-4-5 hour films we sell. They show you parts of the full film. For example here you see a little but about the preparations before takeoff. The actual film has the complete preparations, briefing, checklists, fuel calculations, takeoff speed calculations, cockpit set up and a lot more... But as you can imagine sending our film crews all around the world to film these and then produce them as well as equipment etc... costs a lot and in order to be able to continue making these films we have to sell them... but in the 29 years we have been making them we've never increased the price even though the costs have gone up so we really try to bring them to you at the lowest possible price. We're no millionaires but we love doing this :)

    Hey Just Planes, i was wondering if you could either do a cockpit film for Sydney and Manila and if you can, do like a tutorial thing in which the pilots show how to do approaches. Its up to you but we can give it a go. Nice video as always too

      Hi James. Most of our videos include the pilots doing a briefing before the approach and describing the approach in detail. We don't post those on you tube though as they can be long and its more about the actual landing and takeoff here just go give folks a taste of what our videos are all about but the full pilot briefings and presentations are on our full programs. While we have done both SYD and MNL I'm not sure we have anything recently filmed into those airport.

    The A380 is such a fantastic aircraft. I’m sad time seems to have passed her by.

    Good to watch, and educational for all flight simmers ... but 22:25 it's going to be Belgium, not Netherlands on the other side of the Channel!

    I always wondered how they find where the runway is from the gates. Airplanes have their own little airport sat nav!

    Wait did anyone see that? The runway lights are like traffic lights guiding the pilots. Never seen this at any other airport before.
