These awesome pilots get that huge jet at 40000 feet safely on the ground in Heathrow and make it look no more difficult than my drive from home to the local supermarket.....incredible. Great attitude by these 2 professionals and a great airline to go with it.
That's because it is not. The computers do the bulk of the work.
who lands the airplane? the computer? @@dijoxx
@@flixqtt Yes, the computer can land the plane too.
@@dijoxx can, but rarely used so not everything is a computer
@@dijoxx If you knew anything about flying, youd know the computers are completely useless without constant human input. the computers dont just "do all the work"
What fabulous, skilled pilots - and what a great advertisement for anyone a little apprehensive about flying. With this Captain and his FO on the flight deck of an already safe aircraft, these guys have it all handled - whats there to do other than enjoy the ride.
Malaysia Airlines is my favorite. Flown with them several times and each experience was perfect.
people who flew mh17 and mh370 would not say the same
awesome to watch and listen to, very professional Captain and First Officer, thank you for explaining what happens on a flight into LHR, I can tell both take great pride in their duties. Thank you for sharing.
Impressively calm, relaxed and professional. I want these guys flying the next plane I'm on!
This pilot is a cool customer. Beautiful landing...when you think how heavy that aircraft is. Thanks for posting.
Flown a couple of times in the A380 very smooth and quiet.
Makes you feel real safe with these skilled people up front
very good video, thanks. I used to live in southeast London; now live in Essex, east coast town.
tradjazzer thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it
The final moments of the approach were like a scene straight out of an Alistair Mclean movie !! Tense and clipped curt commands and readings called out.....always followed by " chhheeeckkkk ". Then you realise its not a studio prop...its for real !! Not Sean Connery but a real Captain controlling the biggest plane in aviation history. Brilliant crew brilliant flying.
Literally any pilot: "Iv had good rest"
Also the same pilot: " I got around 4 to 5 hours of sleep"
Hiipixel well he’s in flight so that’s a good rest
That's more than enough considering that he is on a flight. Besides, a pilot gets 3 hours of sleep on average on long hauls.
Would love to fly Malaysia...esp. with this crew. Greetings from Germany during Corona crisis.
u prefer a crew that is flying auto pilot during landing?
Beautiful view outside these windows, amazing plane, great and friendly pilots, and awesome landing that sounds great. I enjoy hearing the pilot as he explains their equipment and what they do. It was awesome seeing that 747 takeoff while on the plane. I love it, awesome video.
“That’s it” we operate this behemoth just like a bicycle. Thank you very much for knowledgeable people. Skill is really more powerful than strength and knowledge is more powerful than skill.
Once again a video with a very well performed walktrough of the arrival and approach procedures. Well done!
Great video and the captain even had a sleep for five hours. Loved the clear instrument displays.
Never tire of these videos especially when the whole deal is so wonderfully professional from the cabin crew to the production.
That was quite a smooth approach and landing ! Beautiful
tell this to the people who developed the auto pilot
This video shows excellent examples of situational awareness and crew resource management by a professional flight crew.
Great video..They parked right in front of my old BA Engineering crew room...memories..
I flew from London to Auckland via KLIA and it was a wonderful trip. I'm very familiar with the ATC terminology and jargon. I had the captions turned on while watching this video. Some of the captions were hilarious, I'm glad I had my headphones on otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue what was being said!
If the Wright brothers could see it all now.
They would be overwhelmed. I am and Im from our age of technologie. A Smartphone would even blow the mind of someone from the 80s. Who knows whats coming?
bar10 ml what a brilliant thought,
brian field Thank You.
They would realize that they were wrong. Ailerons are more effective than wing warping. They held up the entire industry due to their litigious actions.

thanks for a great video. I live in England on eastern coast, about 80 miles from Heathrow.
Sir, incredible professionalism and incredible aircraft. Thanks for the insight.
Watching these have become my new hobby. Love the walk-through by an enjoyable Captain. Onto the next XD
Get MSFS2020 flight sim and can experience yourself.
Thank you. A really interesting experience of life in the cockpit - it is very easy to think you are not going very fast.
Well done captain...well explained....well experienced... What more words to say :) thanks for being a great captain of MAS
With the advanced aviation in the A380, it practically lands itself anyway. Beautiful aircraft . 👍🏻
Bryce James indeed ; i think in this video it was an automatic landing 😅
@@rochdi0421 I don’t think so
I don’t hear an autopilot disconnect sound after landing which is what would have happened
The autopilot disconnect might have been cut before landing
@@nikobelic4251 if you look on the roll out it did disconnect, you can see him pressing the disconnect and the light going out. Don't think it gives you the audio warning other than the click below a certain ground speed on roll out
@@nick123nak6 I re watched and saw that.
It was an autoland, even then though, setting up and monitoring an autoland is work.
I don't know much about this profession but its obvious this is very top level. Confidence and precision.
Beautiful landing , Well done to both of you.
Wonderful and great crew resource management and professional teamwork.
I agree.
Very nice thank you, nice to see the instruments up close.
Really really awesome.. tq guys😬💪💕🇲🇾⚔️
He was a cool captain very impressive
He is malaysian pilot 👨✈️
It was most interesting and thank you to the pilot, and yourself for sharing this experience with me and many others.
Love these videos, keep it up! Also shoutout to that captain, great explanation of what was going on!
These pilots need a gold medal for getting us around safely
This captain is already retire last year if not mistaken... his the pioneer captain in MAS. Join crew 1975... 40 years service.

How many landings does he have? Zero? 😂😂😂
Can't believe the landing briefing - goo weather in Manchester!! Its always raining.
I love Malaysia Airlines!
If you like to disappear forever
@@haroldaranda8042 Stop talking nonsense here and stop this shit. Nowadays only paranoid and irrational people like you keep thinking about that.
why?
This has got to be one of the most enjoyable professions. At least while on air.

A380
Professionals at work... awesome.
What a lovely gentleman the Pilot is :)
Fab one of the best clips ever watched Those large glass displays are great ❤️
Pilot brilliant personality & commentary. Loved it all . Nice guy.
Intensely absorbing and extremely well explained, Thank you!
Half hour to begin descent from Cologne into Heathrow. The crews of Flying Fortresses would be thinking “how we wish”
Chapeau, Captain ! Excellent flight and thanks so much !
Brilliant a pleasure to watch, pilots where excellent.
Malaysian pilots 🇲🇾❤️❤️
Excellent video, the amount of information presented to the crew now is just mind blowing , what an awesome bit of kit!
Excellent Captain and Co Pilot,
Great pilot and caption👏👏👏👏👏
A380 is a wonderful plane; sad to see it wasn't the success it deserved to be. Great feat of engineering.
Wonderful to watch, Thank you for posting.
Really miss the Malaysian A380. Now we flew the A350 to London, Tokyo and Auckland.
greetings from singapore, love this video..i love malaysia airline..thanks for sharing....
Incredible how an A380 weighing 332 tons @ landing still has an approach speed of 131 knots!
Apparently, due to the size of the wing, it has the same approach speed as an A320/330, it was part of the design requirements.
Alonso Trujillo Airbus is very good at optimising aircraft for low speed flight. Thats also why the A320/330 have small flaps
Alonso Trujillo ikr
Also incredible, how it goes down the runway,at 332 tons, and lifts in the air.
yeah and 137kts at O.R Tambo elv ~5500 Feet
Great view and explanation of gauges, flight plan and cross checks....
i don't understand why some people dislike the video!! i mean there's nothing to dislike here ....it's just flying and pure procedures and good professional pilots
Because they should hand fly more, especially in those conditions.
That Ladies & Gentlemen is how to properly & smoothly land a huge aircraft...
Hercules for sure not with a fully automated Autoland 😂😂
@@MrFsxgamer I don’t think this was an Autoland. Also Autoland are usually rougher than manual landings
Very detailed and wonderful coverage! Awesome!!
Thank you Flip👍
Utterly brilliant!
You got to admire these pilots, absolute respect
Yes absolutely respect for these pilotes
Brilliant video, great crew integration!
My wife was calling me to watch a drama. I literally told her I'm coming after successfully landing the plane 😁
Would love to go for a pint with that Scottish bloke on ATC. Fascinating job and a lovely voice.
Aye, wee and nae. Am a fan of Shetland. ;). A wee bit.
Assalamualaikum...
proud of MAS Captain Piloting A380.. superb...well explained
Proud for ? Will u say jay shree ram ?
Cool captain!
Thanks, really good.
Did not hear the autopilot disconnect. This is a full auto land all the way to touchdown. Lack of movement of sidestick on short final by pilot flying confirms this. I would have loved to see the aeroplane hand flown from at least 1500 ft AGL. I wonder if this is standard practice at Malaysian Airlines. Auto land should only be used in IMC for a CATII or CATIII ILS approach in low visibility and/or low cloud base conditions and certainly not in clear daylight VFR conditions with light winds. Using the auto land too frequently leads to erosion of actual flying skills.
There is a Lufthansa RUclips video series for a MD11 freighter where the pilot flying is the very young first officer who disconnects the auto pilot a full half an hour before landing at about flight level 140 and hand flies the aeroplane all the way through vectored approach to touchdown (speed managed). This is real skill and a young bloke relishing the challenge.
I just feel that complacency creeps in due to an unbalanced reliance on the high level of automation available in modern day, new gen airliners.
Just like some airlines mandate, I hope Malaysian Airlines makes it compulsory for pilots flying to disconnect the auto pilot and hand fly the aeroplane to touchdown.
Believe me, autoland function is rarely used. You can use autoland in VMC or IMC. Some pilots use autoland just to check if the system is still functioning normally after many manual landings being made.
Jonathan Castelino no , you use it at times to stay current in the event you need to land in CAT2,3. But I agree it’s more fun to hand fly
Karl Sandin - thanks. Appreciate your comment.
cruxader27 - thanks. That’s a relief. Cheers
There is nothing wrong with doing an Autoland in VMC conditions, all flight crews do that regularly as training.
But there is one - really really important thing - that bothers me about they way the crew did this. At NO POINT I heard them announcing doing an Autoland into Heathrow to ATC...
This can be verrrrry dangerous and it should be announced to the approach controller or earlier so that the tower controller at the destination airport can let possible departing traffic hold at the CAT II / III holding points instead of the CAT I to ensure correct ILS signals for the aircraft performing the Autoland.
What can happen is case like that, although not caused my traffic on ground but by traffic that took off shortly before (and was not seperated within CAT III minimas)-> just google "Singapore Munich runway excursion" and click the AvHerad article.
very nice video, thank you.. I am an ex Londoner, now live in Essex on East coast
Awesome video of my most fav aircraft ❤ great how everything was explained way to go dudes xx
Not much space in the "driving seats" of the largest airliner. Amazing technology though.
Very clear weather at LHR, same conditions at alternate Manchester. Severe monsoon rain in cabin.
Lol
Good grief
Well that was amusing..I turned on auto generated captions. Captioning interpretations of what is being said is pretty funny!!
Love these clips very good
Thanks for the ride!!
Got to love the LHR tower controller's cool Scottish accent :)
Excellent and informative. Thanks
When on easterlies, flights for Terminal 4 sometimes get to use 09R for landing. It saves queueing and having to cross a live runway. A great vid with an interesting array of views of the approach and landing, very enjoyable.
good job captain and your first officer :) on board this fantastc A380 !:)....and fly safe :)
Good job Captain. Greetings from Senegal.
Great stuff. Thank you
Well done gentlemen!
Think about the ATCs at Heathrow who are responsible for multiple aircraft every minute, respect!
I worked with the engineering team that provided the infrastructure for Heathrow ATC. They said that the most important characteristic of a controller was a complete lack of imagination!
My son did work experience as ATC @ Glw airport when he was at schol; then shadowed a dentist. Eventually ended up as an accountant with one of the Big Four.
I still have audio recording of him speaking to Captain of Zoom flight landing at Glasgow Airport
Thank you for sharing cockpit with us. Very pleasant captain.
great video, love the Malay flight crew
06:51 Funny how he lowers his voice when he's speaking to the passengers.
All aircraft have built in synthesizer, you press a button for Johnny Cash mode.
Awesome job Mr. Pilot👏👏
Thank you captain for sharing this experience
Beautiful video 👋👋👋👍👍👍
Thanks Mercelo👍
Excellent fly. Very nice ship
As a curious passenger, its wonderful to see how the pilots handle what happens in the front of the airplane. Passengers may complain about this or that, but I always am grateful to the flight crew every time I fly.
Quite right. Passengers are too often oblivious of this fact.
My favourite big bird
very good video.I am saving up for a trip to Seychelles via A380 then A320 at Doha
that was awesome great video
Terima kaseh..... great film
