Banana Slugs, Smashed Tables, and Angry Birds: First Time Dual Sport Motorcycle Camping (w/Friends!)

- You're probably wondering how I have a motorcycle camping focused channel but somehow don't have a single dual sport motocamping video. Well, technically all of my moto camping trips have been on adventure bikes. I've never actually loaded up one of my dual sport motorcycles with motorcycle camping gear and gone out to do some honest to goodness dual sport motorcycle camping. Well, that all changed with this adventure featuring our friends Tim and @ExploreAdventureMoto himself.
We decided to stay at a campground for this dual sport motocamping adventure because fire restrictions are still on for everywhere else, and we really wanted to have a campfire. What followed was an evening of awesome dual sport moto camping fun, with beers, broken tables, a banana slug, motocamping cooking, bird attacks, and a whole lot of Bronco backflips.

Of all your moto camping vids, this one is my favorite. Really captured the goofiness of being a kid in the woods with your buds. I didn’t get to capitalize on the weird weather we were having here in Oregon, so thanks for letting me live vicariously.

That part where you guys put chips on that tent reminded me of a time when my buddy and I were camping somewhere near eel lake an I was rudely awakens by an effing eagle dropping fish guts on my tent.
That's what moto camping is about.
6:53 I don't miss those nasty slugs that are EVERYWHERE on the wet side of the Cascades. I'm so glad they don't exist on the dry side where I now live.

I really enjoy your content. Judge Judy is on commercial so I thought I would comment. You seem like a guy I could hang with. Sarcastic and self deprecating. I ride a 2016 690 ktm and a 300xc-w ktm that is played. I have done parts of the wabdr. I like seeing the geology. I thought Bridge of the gods was a stupid name for a bridge until I found out how it got that name. Fascinating.

But, Ben is your internet biking buddy! Seriously, I hear you, bro. None of my friends or family have the time or will to go moto camping. They are all married with kids and 9 to 5 jobs. I am only about 300 miles from Ben, and could technically trailer over my bike one of these weekends to join him for a trip some day. Maybe next Spring when I get over 1000 subscribers and stop crashing, lol.

Note to self. Go camping with Travis. Then you don't have to go find firewood and make a fire. I have gone several nights without a fire purely because I was to lazy to gather wood. I need a Travis!
I highly recommend taking both a Tim and a Travis camping if you have the opportunity.
So, how did your modified sleep system work out?
I get the rotundity.
I was 360lbs in May. Down to 280lbs now. Just 100lbs to go.
Drink more water. Eat only poultry, eggs, and fish (avoid red meat, dunno about pork, I didn't eat any) and eat LESS. Still drinking like a fish, tho that will have to go at some point, and I'm not exercising, but that, too, will have to change.

I’ve camped all over Oregon and Washington and I’ve never seen a bird like that at camp, or any bird that brazen around people. Ravens will tear shit up but not with you 10 inches away.
They live in the campground year-round so they're pretty used to people. I've had similar problems with Blue Jays in the past.
I know them as gray jays. They are also referred to as camp robbers.

I enjoy camping as much as the ride. The guy I ride with rides an Afica twin. He likes to ride fast, I do as well. Riding with him is like riding to a museum with many cool things to see and then running through it without seeing anything. Don't get it.
I don't know their actual name....but I call those birds "Robber Jays". They are always the first birds trying to scavenge at my campsites.

You technically need a commercial drone pilot's license to use drone footage in a monetized youtube video, so probably not unless I get one of those sometime soon.

Other than the weight factor do you notice the 450l being a lot faster than the drz? Or is it close to the same? the weight just makes it feel faster. Thanks
I’ve been riding street bikes for a while…but i am looking in to dual sports for the pst cpl years worried about my weight tho I’m around 320 at the moment what do u recommend that can handle my weight
They think you bring a lot of crap. That's nothing compared to what I have seen.

Technically it is but I definitely packed it like an adventure bike
I pack mine like an adventure bike and all my friends tell me I don't need to bring all that stuff what would you do if my friend saw a boy what did their envious when I cook steak on my twig stove and unpack cold beer
