I always carry an ultralight tarp and a couple adjustable poles. If I have to set up camp in the rain, the tarp is the first thing to go up. I can assemble a freestanding tent under the tarp and move it to an edge where the tarp shields the entrance. The tarp can provide cover for a picnic table. It can provide shade to work on the motorcycle if you break down in the middle of the desert.

Hi Mark, I'm 7 months late to the party on this one.. 😊
But with your dislike of toggles - get some small stainless steel keyrings just large enough for a toggle to fit through end on.
Wind a keyring on to the loop the toggle is supposed to go through, then instead of trying to put the toggle through the loop just pop it through the keyring and it should still hold the door or fly open when rolled up.

Hi Mark, thank you very much for the heads up on this tent. I've had a Mongar 2 from Nature Hike for the last two years and it's great , light, strong and most importantly waterproof. I toured for two months in Europe in 2022 by bicycle and it was faultless. Sadly on the way back to Australia my bike box didn't end on my flight, this meant it was delivered by Singapore Airlines a few days later. Unfortunately Australian customs inspected the box because it was unaccompanied baggage and after inspection they didn't tape it back up. So during transport to me the aluminium tent frame was lost at some stage :^( . The aussie supplier doesn't carry spare frames and wanted $295 for a new tent and still do. When I saw your video at $169 I immediately ordered a new tent through your amazon link. Thanks mate, keep up the great work. Ps I'm doing a lap of Australia from Narooma in NSW, leaving the 26th April on my Yamaha XT1200 Super Tenere and will be camping using the Mongar 2.

I’ve had this tent for a little over a year. I use it for motorcycle camping and it has been great. I bought the add on vestibule last summer and it’s great for when your parked in one spot for a couple days. It allows you to keep anything extra off the bike (luggage, gear, etc) and out of sight. :)

Hey Mark. Thanks heaps for all you do on this channel, super good stuff. Just wanted to update you on this tent. I watched your review recently ( really good thanks) and just purchased this because you could set the fly before the inner tent, keeping everything dry. Like you, I love this feature. Unfortunately, since your review, the manufacturer has changed the fly connections, which means you need the inner tent in place before you can install the outer fly. Just wanted you and your viewers to know. Received new tent from Amazon on 12/08/2023. Cheers

WOW! just found your channel. i am in the U.S. like that tent. easy set up, love how the clips work on the corners, free standing. the tent i have now is a 3 person, it's huge for me, set it up once, took about 20 minutes, the stakes are crap, it does pack small, it's a nice tent, fits on the back of my bike nice, but i need a rain proof 50L bag to carry all my gear in. haven't camped yet, but soon. looking at a lot of people on YT and how they camp, cook, carry, etc. loved this video, you explained everything great. i thank you for that. be well, be safe.

    Very thorough review. Thanks.
I prefer hammock camping. My Hennessy hammock is very comfortable, very lightweight and it packs small. I can't always find two trees, so a tent would be good for motorcycle camping, particularly in a desert or above the tree line. I bought the bits to pitch my Hennessy hammock on the ground but it's not very easy to enter or exit and it's very cramped. It's more of an emergency no-tree shelter. I'd like to do some longer motorcycle camping trips and there would be times when I'm stuck in the tent for a day due to inclement weather. It'd be great to have a tent like the Mongar 2 that had enough room for me and my stuff comfortably, and particularly enough room to sit upright.

Me too! Love love love the nomad. I have the 3 person one. I use aluminium poles from an old tent (alu poles are shorter folded). I have a separate bag for the poles and an old sleeping bag bag for the cloth making it easier to fit on the bike. It's simplicity and set up speed in the dome design and enormous amount of room inside and its big doors make the nomad a real winner for me. I sleep on the diagonal though otherwise I touch the sides at 6ft but I use one triangle for all paniers, top box and mc gear and the other massive triangle of floor space for whatever I feel like because it is huge. I just wish there was a better quality version of the same simple design.

Well that mat separate bag will be useful in case your mat gets dirty.

Buying a tent for a return to moto camping trip from UK to Greece and back last September/October the tent options are numerous! Ended up with a $114 AUD pop up 2 man tent. Quality is good. Nets and outer are all in one package, out of the bag and UP in 25 seconds! 100% Honest! Y
Waterproof, plenty or ventilation and air flow for 40c temps. Out the bag and up and if raining you can be in it in within 30 seconds or so in the dry. You can open the two doors and put the pegs in whilst under cover + 6'5''/195cm and I'm OLD, riding bikes for over 60years!!!!!!!
Nice tent but all that faffing around and time to erect and take down. The pop up is down and folded within 40 seconds, it take long to get it back in its bag.

@@Marcspix. "Olpro" is the brand, quite a few seller's in the UK. I liked that it went up so fast and I could get straight in it in rain after 500km in rain. Plenty of ventilation in 40°c as well and you could leave the small top cover off on very hot dry nights on Adriatic coast. Compared to friends Vango at 3 + times the price it came out well they were still faffing around with. Poles whilst I was under cover.

Sure beats the Mitchell biker swag, helinox stretcher is a little bit glamping.
Most hard core would just use the sea to summit inflatable mattress.👍👍
