Travis Gets Wood, Meat Explosion, and "Wildlife" Encounters: Motorcycle Camping Trip to Jones Creek

- This Honda Africa Twin motorcycle camping trip certainly didn't start off well, considering I got a flat tire and dropped my bike twice on the way in, but once I got to camp things got a whole lot better. Motorcycle camping with friends is always a blast, and thanks to Travis from Beards, Bikes, and Camping this trip quickly went from awful to awesome.
After getting my tent and sleeping bag all set up, it was time to enjoy some cold beverages and cook dinner. I decided to try out a new camping dinner that I've never had before: canned pulled pork. Cooking it was eventful, to say the least, because I accidentally collapsed my Sea to Summit X Pot and meat exploded everywhere when I managed to pop it back into shape. Fortunately, the camping cooking turned out okay and the pulled pork sandwiches I made were quite edible. Afterward, we enjoyed our first campfire in many months thanks to a lowered fire danger and Travis' excellent wood acquisition skills. We spent the evening drinking and laughing around the campfire before heading off to sleep in our tents.
The next morning, I encountered some dangerous wildlife, but managed to successfully sneak up on the elusive and dangerous PNW Sea to Summit Green Manta Ray (aka the Sea to Summit Pack Tap from MotoCamp Nerd) and extract enough milk to Jetboil up some morning coffee before heading off to join Amanda Zito's "Pack it Out" cleanup event at the Jones Creek day use area that morning!

The p-38 opening a can is a right of passage for camping...they used to come attached to k-rats from the military. I am glad you were able to educate the people!

The WW2 P38 is called that because it's supposed to take 38 punctures/pulls around to open K and C rations/cans. I don't smoke but when people tell me cigars aren't healthy I say George Burns smoked most of his 100 years.

My first reaction to the Pork F**kery .. Who do I attract bears... I know, pour meat flavored water all over the campsite, the spread flaked meat all over the table .. Keep being you, my little spirit animal!
I did have that thought but they're really not much of a problem in our area. More likely to attract a curious raccoon than anything
@@DorkintheRoad in certain parts of AZ (the ones i like to camp in) they can be a major concern and they are quite bold, I've seen shredded tents and even ice chests thrown out of the bed of trucks and dismantled

I believe that if you need to dump food type stuff like that meat juice in the campsite, it's best to do it in the fire pit so it'll get incinerated rather than rotting and/or attracting animals.

I plan on taking up moto camping next year. What is your opinion on one wheel trailer for your bike. It seems like a good accessory for hauling bulky relative lite stuff. Ive seen them on u tube but not in person. Don't think they sold very well several years back some folks were manufacturing them but I think itsa love it or hate it kind of deal. I embrace the DORK!!!

Are those camping sites free or you have to paid a fee? over here it just state parks witch are booked all the time and full of people every where, your neighbors almost have the tent 5 feet from yours.

I live in alaska drive haul road all the time. Why folks take bikes on it beyond me. Deadhorse is a big nothing burger and its expensive. My first year I found all kinds of Harley parts,Harley trinkets,cell fones tube and tires and air filters
